Busy Saturday

Pollo Bravo | Houston, Texas | Causa Rellena and Pollo Quesadillas

Scruffy and I woke up this morning and ate my leftover pho and Chaurrasco’s for brunch. We got ready and headed to the rehab center where Mama is and paid her a visit since it’s been awhile since I last saw her. She’s up and walking with the help of her walker and brace but she’s doing great.

We stopped by World Market for literally a quick couple of minutes before we had to meet Caitlin, Rami, and Peyton at Pollo Bravo for lunch. Since we ate not too long ago, I opted for the Causa Rellena appetizer (way too dry) while Scruffy got the Pollo Quesadillas (not bad but if the salad was cassava fries it would of been perfect). Thomas met up up with us there and ordered to go.

The Teahouse | Houston, Texas

After lunch I went and got a Milk Tea with lychee jellies at The Teahouse. Bad mistake because I asked for less sugar and got a watered down drink where half was ice. It was so horrible but for five dollars I tried my best to suck down everything.

We then headed to Caitlin, Rami, and Peyton’s where we played a few card games before they left to return a mattress and Scruffy and I left for dinner.

[2018] 195/365: Spicy Hot Pot

We weren’t too sure where to go but decided on hot pot at Little Sheep. Sissy and BIL met up with us at the spur of the moment and it was a fun last minute decision. After our bellies were full we said goodnight and headed home. I’m not too sure what we’re going to do now. I’m assuming telly and then bedtime.

I’m not ready for the weekend to end!

Pool Day

2018 | 174/365 | Pool Day

[2018] 174/365: Pool Day

Horea and the kids came over for a quick pool day. The kids are still a bit shy but they’re breaking out of their shell and soon enough they were holding my hand, asking me to flip them upside down and whatnot. I had a very fun time with them.

Burgers and Hot Dogs

Scruffy even made hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone. I opted to wrap mine with lettuce instead of buns and it was equally delicious.

We played in the pool a bit more and then they left for a church event. That’s also around the time Rami, Caitlin, and Peyton showed up. We played with Peyton for a bit before they left as well. Ashy and Jamie went to the hospital while Scruffy and I laid on the couch. I think I took a short nap then too.

The Pho Shack | Sugar Land, Texas | Pho and Egg Rolls

Jamie, Scruffy, and I went to The Pho Shack for dinner. They used to have the worst broth I’ve ever tasted and we vowed we wouldn’t be back. But about half a year ago, I wasn’t feeling well and really wanted broth for my throat and this was the closest pho place. We were floored by how much different the soup was and now it’s one of our favourite pho places!

Now it’s iPad and telly fun time. Good night, lovelies!

2018 Dad’s Birthday

June 3, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Hong Kong Cafe Macaroni Breakfast

We took a group picture before heading back to Houston. Scruffy and I stopped by Hong Kong Cafe, ordering takeout. While we were waiting for our food, we stopped by the sushi place next door and enjoyed a few pieces. Once we got our food, we stopped by Eck Bakery and picked up a dozen of egg tarts for Dad. When we got home, we ate our foods then showered, waiting for Sissy and BIL to arrive.

Tasty Ko | Katy, Texas | Dad's 2018 Birthday

We played San Juan, a new board game Scruffy got him. We all enjoyed it and then ended up going to Tasty Ko for Dad’s (and Scruffy’s) birthday dinner. I was surprised that we cleared out EVERYTHING. Only less than a handful of meat was left!

[2018] 154/365: Dad’s Birthday

We then went home, cut the cake and Dad opened his presents before Sissy, BIL, Scruffy, and Luna left back to their own homes.

I’m so sleepy, I’m ready to go to bed, but not ready to go to work. I wish everyone only worked four work days with three day weekends. I feel like everyone would be much more productive.

Dad’s Early Birthday Celebration

May 27, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Lunch at Joanna and Kiran's New House

Today has been an equally busy day. We started out going to the neighborhood pool for some splish and splash. Emmy did wonderfully without any tears for the hour we were there.

We then showered, got ready, and picked up food from Lucky City to bring and eat at Joanna and Kiran’s new place! And to meet the new addition!

Brudda forgot his phone was in his pocket before going in the pool and so we all headed to Costco for his new one and the mall for a new screen protector.

JT5 Restaurant Hot Pot & Grill | Plano, Texas

We were able to relax for a short while before heading out for dinner at JT5 Restaurant Hot Pot & Grill with SIL’s parents. It was also for Dad’s early birthday celebration.

I can’t speak for the Korean barbecue aspect since we didn’t get that but this easily jumped to a top favourite hot pot place. Especially because we were able to make our own sauces at the sauce bar.

The only complaint I have is that they don’t look at the order sheets and give you more or less of what you actually ordered.

2018 | 147/365 | Dad's Birthday Ice Cream Cake

[2018] 147/365: Dad’s Early Birthday Celebration

We stopped by 85 Degree Bakery to pick up some breakfast for tomorrow morning before all going back to the house to cut the ice cream cake we got earlier.

Tomorrow we head home. I cannot wait to see Rizzo! Scruffy has been taking care of him and sending me little snaps and updates which is never enough, obviously.

Family Day in Waco, Texas

Uber Eats Breakfast Tacos

Sissy and I ordered breakfast tacos through Uber Eats while everyone ate kolaches Mum brought up from Houston.

George's Restaurant and Catering | Waco, Texas

After Emmy had her socializing class, we all headed to Waco. We had plans to check out Magnolia Table but due to the long wait, we headed to George’s Restaurant & Catering instead.

Dad and I shared our foods while Sissy and I shared our drink. The food wasn’t bad. I would opt out of getting the corn though. That was our least favourite.

Dr Pepper Museum | Waco, Texas

We then headed to the Dr Pepper Museum since Mum is their “biggest fan”. She even ordered it with her lunch, per usual. The museum, though small, was a bit fun. I liked that they had some interactive things for the viewers to take a part of.

Dr Pepper Museum | Waco, Texas | Complimentary Drink

We all got complimentary drinks. I went with the Sunkist. I drank a couple sips before Mum downed the rest.

Legends Thai Cuisine & Kung Fu Tea | Plano, Texas

We were going to stop by somewhere else too but decided to head back to Dallas. Sissy, SIL, and I played with Emmy while Brudda, Mum, and Dad went to Walmart and then picked up foods from Kung Fu Tea and Legends Thai Cuisine. This is one of the best Thai places I’ve had in America. It’s spicy and they give you so much for your buck!

2018 | 146/365 | Rockets vs Warriors | Game 6

[2018] 146/365: Game 6 Rockets vs Warriors

Though I’m extremely happy we had an amazing day with the family, my happiest was when I realized I finally get to watch the Rockets game. I haven’t been able to see any since I don’t have cable. Sadly, they are losing right now. Come on, Rockets, push on through!! Sigh …
