Deadpool Movie

February 12, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

You know those crazy people that go and stand in line opening night and wait for a few hours before they’re seated so they can pick the “best seat” in the theater? Yeah, I’m not one of those people. I don’t really do those crazy opening nights type of deals. I usually wait until the theater is about to take it off the big screen or until it comes out on DVD or something because crowds.

But it was different this time around because Deadpool. I’ve been waiting for this movie since before they even talked about making a movie. And if you don’t know who Deadpool is, I don’t know if we can be friends anymore.

People ask me who he is. Apparently, he’s not very well known. Then they ask why he’s my favourite. Because I suck at video games but love playing, when games had him in it, I would choose him. He could heal on his own so I wouldn’t die as fast. And because of that I Googled him and found out he’s a freaking badass but a good person and super romantic at heart. But overall, I fell in love with his humor and sarcasm. And ever since then I was in love … with a comic book character.

Back in the beginning of January, there was a Groupon for Alamo Drafthouse and saw I could reserve my seats for Deadpool. I was surprised to find that though the movie doesn’t come out until midnight on the 12th, they were having some earlier showings on the 11th. Um … hello, duh. And since then, I’ve been patiently counting down the days.

People asked why I’d pick row 1 thinking it’s right at the front … to clear that up, it’s actually like the third from the back. Best seats ever, k? Cool.

Yesterday we finally made our way to the theater and I don’t think anyone would believe me if I told them I had chills from all the excitement that I couldn’t hold in especially because …

… when we arrived, we saw there were people dressed up as Deadpool and my heart leaped. How lame is that?

Like “Hello, Melissa … Deadpool is only fictional.”

Like “Duh, I know.”

So if you wanna get with me, I guess all you have to do is dress up like Deadpool and talk and do silly, stupid, crazy things and I’ll probably fall madly in love with you.

At first I thought these people just really love Deadpool but soon realized, Alamo Drafthouse hired them to pass out masks where on the back of it was a promotion for chimichangas, because what else!

Best. Movie. Ever.

But I’m biased. Obviously. And I’m certain if you don’t know anything about him and watched the movie, you’d agree. You’ll be biased like me.

I don’t think I’m ruining anything by telling you to stay until after the credits.

Gahhhh … I promise you’ll be patiently waiting for the next one just like me.

Happy Hump Day!

February 10, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Took half a day off yesterday due to unbearable pains and I didn’t worry about missing meetings or feeling guilty for skipping out on lunch with Erin. I made sure to let them know though so they rescheduled the meeting and Erin texted me to make sure I was okay a few times throughout the rest of the day. It felt good not worrying all the time how people feel when you’re not okay. Step one of being less of a people pleaser by taking care of me, myself, and I. Check.

Madison is getting induced tomorrow which means hanging out with Mallory is a no go this week. But that means a little girl or little boy will be born soon! I can’t wait to meet him/her. I am patiently awaiting Mallory’s text to let me know. Eeeeep!

Deadpool tomorrow. TO-freaking-MORROW. I hope I don’t get disappointed since I’ve been looking forward to this movie since before they were making the movie. There’s going to be a freaking drink in my hand while watching because that’s what Wade Wilson would do. Duh.

Weekend plans are on lock down for the most part. Appointments and reservations and that type of deal and I’m a little nervous. I’m a homebody so I don’t go out and really meet anyone. Doing too much without any breaks for me to recharge makes for a cranky me. I need downtime in between long hours spent with people to recharge so I was surprised I agreed to everything. We’ll see how that goes.

Hopefully I’ll have time to finally un-box my Meme Box from December that Sissy and BIL got me and my Stitch Fix that just came in yesterday. I’ll let y’all know if there’s anything worth mentioning.

Stay Positive and Think Good Thoughts! 🙂

2016 Chinese New Year | The Year of the Monkey

Chinese New Year 2016 | The Year of the Monkey

Happy Chinese New Year!

The Chinese horoscope says I’m suppose to have a pretty good year. Haha I don’t believe those things but we’ll see if they’re right.

I’m lucky enough to communicate with my family in Hong Kong through WhatsApp. It’s usually just the kids and Kathy in there but Rachel was able to record PoPo’s voice wishing us a Happy New Year and telling me to bring home a man and we can eat pigeon together. I replied that we might scare him if he sees us eating it. haha I miss them a lot and it’s times like these I wish I was over there to celebrate with them. Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to do so next year. Wish we all had more time together. But I’ll take this over nothing at all.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

A Whole Lotta Words For Nothing …

February 7, 2016 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I’m not really sure where this post is going. I’m just writing it to document what I did the last part of the week just for my own memories sake. So … you can skip this unimportant post if you’d like. 🙂

I was starving when I met up with Mallory after work Wednesday and the whole time we were at Target I could feel my stomach eating itself. But right when we walked into Fish City Grill I was full and a meal that Mallory and I split ended up pretty much untouched. It was the first time we finished eating before John even got home so I ended up watching telly with her for a little while.

Thursday after work Sammy and I had plans to hang out. We had just gotten to World of Beer and I really thought I was going to keel over but I persevered. It was funny, though – for the first time, I didn’t chug my beer and he was beating me … not that it was a race or anything. After however much beer and time later, we headed to Bernie’s Burger Bus where I pretty much watched him eat because I wasn’t hungry. It’s been a while since we hung out and it was nice we were able to do so. He was even nice enough to agree to stop by my house to pick up my guitar. He’s going to put new strings on it. I haven’t played in forever but maybe now that I get new strings on it I will.

After hanging out with him I took a sleeping like pill since I was going to jump into bed by 9:30 pm thinking I’ll finally get enough sleep. Instead, I woke up at 12 am and went to work by 4:50 pm Friday. Pure torture to be so wired and so tired at the same time especially on a Friday in a meeting. I wasn’t able to or wanting to go eat until late that night. Stomach pains ended up having me to cancel plans with Alyssa to rest up since the next day was going to be quite long.

Saturday was all types of pre Chinese New Year festivities. I planned to go to Zuco’s surprise birthday party late at night but the pain was too much. I stayed home with the fams playing video games instead. I want to upgrade to a PS4 now. Ever since BIL, I play more and he actually has a little bit more patience to teach then my brother did. But it’s expensive and I would probably either play all the time and do nothing with my life (doubt it) or I play on and off and it won’t be worth the money.

The latter part of the week was filled with peoples. Sadly having to cancel two of them because of pain sucks. But staying at home and hanging out with my family was still fun since I rarely get to see the cousins. Chinese New Year tomorrow! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeps!

Coffee Art

Bob Marley Coffee Art | Maria Aristidou

Maria A. Aristidou

I’m not a hardcore lover of coffee though many will say I’m lying since I like to try new coffee shops. I go to coffee shops are more for the environment than for the coffee. I usually only order coffee when I’m blogging at a coffee shop or back when I wanted to see this boy at work and the only way was to ask him to walk downstairs with me to get coffee.

But other then that, I wouldn’t say coffee feeds my body. If anything, coffee destroys my body … if you know what I mean. TMI? ha

It would have never crossed my mind to take coffee and turn it into art. If anything, coffee stains always made me feel uneasy because it reminded me of dirtiness. But these are far from dirty. They are so pretty and I’m jealous I wasn’t the one who came up with it. Why am I not as talented as these people?!

I wonder if these mold. If not, that’ll be something cool to experiment with. What other drink items can we use? …. Oooo how about sauces? Man, I’m sure those would mold though.

Friday is just around the corner! We can do it! Stay positive and think good thoughts! <3
