2020 New Year Resolutions

December 31, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2019 Best Nine on Instagram

My top nine filled with family, friends, and travels. What more could I ask for?

I’m currently hanging out with Mallory, John, and Trey to ring in the new year. Recap to come. Until then …

Recap of 2019 New Year Resolutions

  • Refocus on health and fitness – I failed on this. Mentally, I’m healthier but physically, I could do better. I did lose weight but it’s never enough. Since BBBS gave us free YMCA and work gives us $250 a year on fitness, I’ll hopefully be putting it to use this coming year.
  • Read, Read, Read! – my Goodreads stats are below. I made a vow to read twelve books by the end of the year. I freaked out when June came around and I had only finished three. I was so behind but by the end of August, I completed my twelve and it’s been a bit stagnant since.
2019 Goodreads Recap
  • Travel somewhere new – Pennsylvania (x2), New Jersey, Marble Falls, Ohio, Montgomery, Arizona, Midland, Denver
  • Save money for a new place – I’m still working on this though I will say I am doing great but the fear of having to pay for so much is a little frightening to me.

My 2020 New Year Resolutions

  • Focus on health and fitness
  • Read my usual 12 books a year
  • Travel more
  • Save money for a new place
  • Continue building strong friendships

The same goals that have made me mentally happier this year so I will continue them, plus one.

Flu Shots, Mimosas, and You

December 28, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Finn is going to be born soon so Brudda asked us all to get flu shots so Mum and I went and got ours this morning. Work gave them out for free but since I was getting Lasik at that time, I wasn’t allowed to get the shot. I’m glad I got pretty good insurance now so my shot was free, unlike last year.

I grabbed some wines and snacks and took Mum home. Then I headed over to Mallory’s. Leah was coming over for a visit again so we got some girl time in.

Mint + Dark Chocolate KitKat

Anyone that knows me knows I love KitKats. I saw this Mint + Dark Chocolate combo and had to get it. It’s probably now my favourite KitKat, other than the BigKat of course. It’s so good, I had to write about it.

Mimosas and JJ

Mallory, Leah, and I had mimosas with fresh-squeezed orange juice by John. Yum! It wasn’t as sweet as the store-bought juice but still super delicious. JJ had fun with his new toolset he got for Christmas. Maybe he’ll be a little builder when he’s older.

Mallory & Mellie Dee Color Street New Year Nails

Mallory and I put on new Color Street nails, new year style with the sparkles. It is definitely cheaper doing this than getting nails done by a professional. I do miss the pampering though.

John took JJ to go play at the park while we girls and Jacob watched two episodes of season 2 of You. It’s much gorier and disturbing this season but so far, so good.

Alicia's Mexican Grille | Katy, Texas | DoorDash

We ended up ordering DoorDash from Alicia’s Mexican Grille. The fajitas were very good, as well as the guacamole. I loved that they gave chips and salsa as well which some places don’t do when you order to go. The downer was the soup. Although it was good, I wish that they put the rice on the side rather than in it. It also needed a little more spice. Mallory liked it though since it was very mild. Overall, not a bad experience. We were just happy that the food made it to us and in a timely matter.

I’ve been working on a project for Finn’s room and my fingers are crossed they come out okay! Maybe if it does, I’ll share it with you all.

2019 Christmas Day

December 25, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Rizzo Christmas Sweater

The day started out with coffee in front of the tree with our Christmas pajamas on. Penguins for Rizzo and Buc-ee’s for me. Coffee … who am I?

2019 Christmas Hot Pot

Sissy, BIL, Bruno, and Kato came over and we had our hot pot lunch. As we get older, we’ve noticed we eat less. So much leftovers for dayz.

2019 Christmas Rizzo Photoshoot

I tried to take cute pictures of Rizzo in front of the tree, like I do every year, but he didn’t feel like cooperating. He wouldn’t sit or lay down. These were my best shots. Still a cutie, I guess.

2019 Christmas Secret Santa from Brudda

We did a video chat with Brudda, SIL, and Emmy since SIL can’t travel with her belly being so big. We started off with our Secret Santas. I got seven gifts in one box nicely labeled to be opened one at a time.

2019 Christmas Secret Santa from Brudda - Deadpool Funkos

This was NOTHING off my list but I’m not mad. I’ve decided a while back to try and collect as many Deadpools Funko Pop! as I can. The only downside was that I wasn’t going to actively go searching so this was a nice surprise. This explained why Brudda kept asking me questions when I visited during Thanksgiving. Thanks, Brudda.

Now to order my shampoo and conditioner and other useful things I actually needed for everyday use that was on my list … yeah, I’m horrible at asking for what I want.

2019 Christmas Presents from Family

The other gifts I received this year. Dad’s annual money game where I always end up getting the least. Yay $30! haha I don’t know what a “small meal” is. Does seafood boil count?

2019 Christmas Other's Cute Presents

These are gifts from other people to other people that I loved. Rocky painted by one of Sissy’s best friends, Halley. I want one of Rizzo when I have my own place though it is super expensive. Little cute pandas. And Buc-ee’s Carolina Reaper salsa I got for Dad that I low-key wanted for myself for my Christmas tamales.

2019 Christmas Next Door Neighbor's Dog Cookies

One of the next-door neighbor kids made cookies for the pups. They gobbled them up. Sissy joked that there was poison in it but they seem fine.

2019 Christmas - Santa's Favourite Ho Sweater

Everyone took naps while I organized things in my room. For Katie’s annual Family Christmas Party, I wore the “Santa’s Favourite Ho” sweater work bought me. It was perfect and Kiran had a big kick out of it.

2019 Christmas at Katie's Food

My plate of food. The pork belly was on point today. I could eat that forever.

2019 Christmas - Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut

We were blessed with this $46 bottle of champagne that we were told was $80. Still, super expensive and fancy. I felt a bit regal. I’m used to that less than $20 stuff.

2019 Christmas Uncles/Aunts/Cousin Presents

My loot from the family party.

I’m pooped. It’s been a long day. My body is tired but my brain is still alive. Chatting with a few friends through messaging and watching telly until I fall asleep.

Merry Christmas, world!

Mahal kita!

Hanging with Mallory

December 17, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Mallory & Mellie Dee Conversation | JJ Mad About No Emmy

Just a simple conversation between me and Mallory. I hope she doesn’t get mad I posted this but I find it hilarious.

I sent this exact message over to my family and asked when Emmy was coming down again. Brudda replied with February so I guess we’ll see what happens.

2019 Christmas Present from Mallory

Mallory gave me my Christmas present. I love it!!! I don’t have this colour before so it’s perfect! Especially since it’s greenish and Christmas time.

I don’t have her present ready and probably won’t be ready until later. I feel bad but she says she doesn’t mind and I’m taking her word for it.

Champagne with Mallory

I’ve been helping her with her 24 days of Christmas wine. We enjoyed a mini champagne, red and white in the small bottles. The champagne surprised me as it wasn’t horrible at all.

Chicken and Rice at Mallory's

she made teriyaki chicken breasts with pilaf. There’s a side of Chick-fil-A sauce to dip it in. I’ve never though of just having it dipped this way but it was perfect.

Two more days until the weekend. I’m so excited!

Goodbye San Antonio

December 15, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Breakfast by Patricia

Everyone knows I usually leave at five in the morning and head back home after being in San Antonio. Today was different. I decided to stay and have breakfast with Patricia, Linda, Shayla, Aubry, Ashley, Ricardo, Noe, and Gerardo.

Penelope and Pepper

Once we finished eating, I was so tired. I took a five-minute nap before taking off. I said goodbye to Penelope and Pepper. They are so cute. I wish they got to meet Rizzo.

Bang and Cucumbers Driving Back to Houston

Must-haves for long drives. Bang energy drinks and baby cucumbers. Bang doesn’t do anything for me. I think the spike of fizziness helps. Corey was on his way home as well so we kind of kept each other company. Although he started driving at night taking him almost a whole day while mine was only for two and a half hours.

Tamales by Patricia

Other than some fideo, Patricia was sweet for sending me with a dozen tamales that she made with her family. I’m excited since I’ve been wanting some homemade tamales. Maybe one day she’ll invite me with her family to make some!

Four days of work before the holidays! Yippee!
