Ed and I met at Black Walnut Café in Cinco Ranch.

Black Walnut Cafe | Katy, Texas | Garlic Cheese Bread

Ed and I shared the Garlic Cheese Bread for starters. These are the devil. They were so good that we couldn’t stop and was sad when it was over.

Black Walnut Cafe | Katy, Texas | Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup

I got the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup as my main entree. The soup wasn’t something to talk about and if you love cheese, this grilled cheese is perfect for you.

I was so full but Ed wanted to hang out some more before he had to go to work so we went to Starbucks down the street. He paid for my Green Tea Frap since I paid for the appetizer.

Afterward, I went home and played my guitar. Ed re-strung all the strings for me since I’m always afraid it will pop in my face (because that has happened before).

Reunited and it feels so good!

I headed into Sugar Land to meet up with Amanda. It was supposed to be us and two of her other friends but they couldn’t make it. Oh well, more time for us to catch up!

I went to pick her up and we headed to:

Bravos Mexican Restaurant | Sugar Land, Texas

Amanda has never been to happy hour before so we popped her happy hour cherry. I believe it was also the first time she’s drank since her birthday celebration.

Bravos Mexican Restaurant | Sugar Land, Texas | Chips and Dip

Chips & Dip | Free. Much needed with our drinking.

Bravos Mexican Restaurant | Sugar Land, Texas | Strawberry Margaritas

Strawberry Margarita. There is too much alcohol in that shizz. After this, I know I do not like margaritas. Beer for me, please.

After much talking and sucking those babies down, I drove her home and headed home.

After reading Rachael’s post about Recommitting, I hopped on the treadmill. I obviously did not do a 6-mile tempo run like she did (I haven’t even reached that point yet!) but I did do a 25-minute run and a 25-minute butt and thigh exercise.

I feel better already but it’s going to be hard to go back to how I did three weeks ago. I should have not quitted for so long! Ah, you’re stupid, Melissa. But I did better than I thought. I even up the tempo a little more than I usually did.

Thanks, Rachael, for that post. You saved me.

Mellie Dee | Blueberry Smoothie

Now I’m sucking down a blueberry smoothie with too much milk. I ran out of yogurt so it’s mostly milk and ice. Still delicious.

Tomorrow is going to be another Food-venture!! Mum and I will be attending lunch at one of the Houston Restaurant Week locations. Then I can cross it off my Bucket List!

Night!

C25K: Last Day

July 16, 2011 by Mellie Dee 6 Comments

“Eat in moderation. Exercise in moderation. Everything in moderation.” That’s pretty much my motto now because I’ve graduated from C25K! Whoop!

I ran even faster than last time but had to slow it down again at 15 minutes from the pain in the side of my hip. It’s okay though because I have succeeded!

For the first time in my life, I am able to cover more distance running and hold my ground on running for a longer period of time. It might take a few days to rest so my hip can heal but my goal now is to faster my time.

Maybe one day I will sign up for a 5K. Maybe one day before the year ends. Here’s to wishful hoping.

After the run, I treated myself to a delicious smoothie and watched Beastly, a classic take on Beauty and the Beast and with humans instead of animation. Having Alex Pettyfer onscreen wasn’t bad at all if he wasn’t the beast because … hello.

Now it’s just catching up with blogs and Grey’s Anatomy. Good night everyone!

Recipe | Overnight Oats In A Jar

July 8, 2011 by Mellie Dee 1 Comment

I have  never been a lover of oats, especially oatmeal. But I took the plunge and made Overnight Oats in a Jar since my knockoff Nutella was all gone.

Overnight Oats in a Jar

Overnight Oats In A Jar

Ingredients:

  • Almost empty jar of spread
  • Rolled oats
  • yogurt
  • milk
  • Honey Nut Cheerios
  • blueberries
  • strawberries
  • peanut butter

Preparation:

  1. Put rolled oats, yogurt, milk, and peanut butter (I didn’t have enough leftover spread in my jar) into the almost empty jar of spread.
  2. Put into fridge overnight.
  3. Add Honey Nut Cheerios, blueberries, and strawberries on top.
  4. Eat.

I added a little bit of chocolate syrup because I always wanted to squirt some of that on something.

Overnight Oats in a Jar with Berries

Ba-ba-ba-berries!

I think I change my mind on oats. It was so freaking delicious. I didn’t mix it well enough though since the bottom didn’t have much flavour. And this breakfast kept me so full for so many hours. Sahweet!

Rocky Asleep

Rocky is so lazy! He took up half the bed as I got busy working on things knowing I get to sleep in due to not having to work on Friday.

I just got done with my C25K: Week 8! Felt good not giving up. I decided to give the treadmill another try. Instead of listening to music, I put on Netflix and the run went way faster than expected. I guess running on the treadmill is okay as long as I have something better to do.

Now I’m running late – no pun intended. Got to get ready and head over to Michelle’s house.

Hope you guys are enjoying y’all’s Friday! 🙂

P.S. I changed up my page layout. Hopefully, it’ll be the last for a while.

Water Bottle Blocking Work Clock

Today was going by so slow. All I could think about was my run later that day. I kept looking at the time on the computer. I resulted to covering the computer clock with my water bottle.

I tweeted saying that I plan to run today but my legs were feeling very heavy. Then Rachael replied. How great is she?!

Rachael, Happy Healthy Run Motivation 1

I was leaning towards giving up since we were having crazy weather and I only love to run outside.

After reading her tweet, it was a no-brainer. I was to run on the treadmill even if it’s not with Mother Nature. Our treadmill is a little wonky so no one really uses it anymore. After a little while, I realized why. I got really bored and had an urge to check the time every few seconds but it went by faster than I thought. Though I’m not a big fan of running on the treadmill, I just might next time if the weather forces me to.

She is so motivating! Oh don’t forget to enter her Gotien Giveaway!!

This whole week is going by really fast. Just one more day and it’s the weekend!!

No Slacking

July 4, 2011 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Happy end of Fourth of July!!

We grilled up a lot of foods. I ended up eating a hamburger and two hot dogs. Plus a lot of little trees, onions, squash, zucchini, etc. Yum!!

Afterward, Sissy, Brother, Brett, and I played Scattergories. I am horrible at this game and was in last place the first time around but we had a rematch and I became second to last. At least I moved up!

But just because it was July Fourth and we had a guest over, it doesn’t mean that I would skip running. I laced up my shoes and did C25K: Week 8.

The run felt long especially since I was starting to feel the pain in the tummy I had felt all weekend. I pushed through and though my legs weren’t tired while I was running, it felt like jelly afterward. Plus, the weather didn’t help much until the end when I was about to do my cool down. Mother Nature gave me a gust of wind.

Five more days of running total. I got this! Night y’all!
