Teahouse with Juhi

September 9, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

The Maples | Katy, Texas | DoorDash

Sissy came over to see the parents and to have brunch. We ordered from The Maples, our first time trying it out and it was pretty decent. The only complaint I had were the potsto fries. I could have done without those. And I gave my toast to Mum. Scruffy said his burger wasn’t bad but will need to say mayo next time … Or buy a thing of mayo for my house. Haha

Waiting for Juhi While Raining

Scruffy and Luna left. Mum, Sissy, and June went shopping. Dad was watching telly while I updated my podcasts. Soon enough I was out the door to meet Juhi for our catch-up. She thought she had told me three thirty so I sat in my car for a good thirty minutes before she showed up.

2018 | 252/365 | The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish

[2018] 252/365: Complete Hilariousness

I didn’t mind though because I finally got Tiffany Haddish’s audiobook, The Last Black Unicorn. I’ve been waiting for this especially since it’s read by her. I am loving it so far and have had a few giggles. She is so real and raw and it’s completely refreshing.

Kim's Teahouse with Juhi

Soon Juhi was knocking on my window scaring me and we walked into Kim’s Teahouse, ordered our drinks and literally talked for four and a half hours. From work to boyfriends to future. It’s been a while since I’ve had a girl’s talk so it was pretty nice. I also realized matcha pudding is pretty good.

Since then I’ve done my laundry and meal prepped. I am pooped and excited to finally go to bed.

2018 Happy Birthday Amina!

September 8, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Face Masks from Hong Kong

Parents came home late last night and I was surprised to find so many face masks where brought back from Hong Kong! I split it up between Mum, June, Sissy and I and I am excited to try them all!

Halal Guys for Two

Scruffy and I shared a Halal Guys dish and hummus and went to fix my glasses. We’ve gotten to the point where we realize certain meals are better shared because there’s just too much food. I always want to order extra though for that nice picture so sometimes we do, like the hummus.

Starbucks Trienta for Nana

We stopped by Fivr Below to pick up cute little water doodle booklets for Amina and since we were going to be outside for the majority of the birthday party I decided to stop by Starbucks and pick myself up a venti iced caramel macchiato and a trenta iced tea lemonade for his Nana.

2018 Amina's Birthday

Amina had inflatable pools and even a water bounce house in the backyard. There were snacks and snow cones there as well. Before long we were singing happy birthday and cutting the cake.

2018 | 251/365 | Texas Roadhouse with Scruffy

[2018] 251/365: Texas Roadhouse Date

We went home and relaxed a bit with Kitchen Nightmares before heading to Texas Roadhouse. I’ve been craving a steak and Scruffy a chicken fried steak and it hit the spot for the both of us. I had so much steak to take home and some of Scruffy’s mashed potatoes.

We’ve watched episodes of Parks and Rec and are about to play trivia and whatever else. Secretly, I just want to cuddle in bed til I fall asleep. Well not secretly because Scruffy knows that’s all I ever want to do ….

Finally A Snorlax

September 2, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Neighborhood Swim

The day started out with swimming at the neighborhood pool. Joanna, Katie, Jasmine and Katrina all came over as well. All I did was dunk my feet in and watch the little ones go crazy.

Pho and TVB

Afterward we ordered some pho and I ate while watching some TVB. I couldn’t even make a dent in it since I haven’t been feeling so well this trip.

Squares Hot Pot | Dallas, Texas

Dinner consisted of hot pot at Squares Hot Pot which isn’t such a bad deal. We tend to overeat when it’s all you can eat. Can you believe we are all full and it costs less than if we did all you can eat? Crazy!

2018 | 245/365 | Pokemon Go | Snorlax

[2018] 245/365: Pokemon Go Snorlax

On the way home I caught a Snorlax. SNORLAX! I’ve been wanting one since the beginning of time when I first started playing. I feel so accomplished now. I don’t know if I should even continue.

Time to cuddle with Snorlax Rizzo and fall asleep. This girl is tired and need all the rest she needs to fight whatever this is.

Full Day of Emmy

September 1, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Zero Degrees | Dallas, Texas

This morning I finally got to see Emmy! We played a little bit and she headed to her gym class. After she was done we all headed to IHOP then Zero Degrees for drinks. Matcha Milk Tea for the win!

2018 | 244/365 | Emmy and Rizzo Asleep

[2018] 244/365: Emmy and Rizzo Asleep

We headed back to the house thinking Emmy would fall in a long enough nap. Instead she woke up after thirty minutes or so and was wild for hours. Sissy and I had to pretend sleep for her to fall asleep and soon enough I was able to capture this cute picture.

Yoon Korean BBQ | Dallas, Texas

We stopped by Joanna’s to say hi to her, the kids, and Katie before heading to dinner at Yoon Korean BBQ. We weren’t thinking of doing all you can eat but individual dishes were pretty much almost the same price. Though the food is good, the service is horrible and we believe it’s because the top was already added since we had five people. So lame.

Missha | Dallas, Texas

Brudda took Emmy home and SIL, Jenny, June and I headed to Missha, a Korean beauty store for some masks, mostly gifts for others in the future but I’m excited to try them on.

Tom n Tom's Coffee | Dallas, Texas

Right next door is Tom n Toms Coffee where us four ladies each got a drink and headed to the second floor to chill and relax and talk. It is pretty nice to have this moment since it’s been awhile since I hung out with SIL and Jenny.

We are finally headed home where I can shower and cuddle with Rizzo until we fall asleep.

2018 Houston Restaurant Week at Tobiuo Sushi & Bar

August 29, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2018 | Houston Restaurant Week | Tobiuo Sushi & Bar | Katy, Texas

Another Houston Restaurant Week for the books this year! Was it worth the $35 for four courses? Probably not.

2018 Houston Restaurant Week | Tobiuo Sushi & Bar | Katy, Texas | Mallory & JJ

Mallory and JJ came along for the ride with me and Scruffy. I haven’t seen these two for a long while so it was long overdue. This boy has grown up so fast!

2018 | Houston Restaurant Week | Tobiuo Sushi & Bar | Katy, Texas | Sake Bombs

We ordered two rounds of sake bombs, traditional between Mallory and I. I haven’t drank that much in such a long time I got tipsy.

2018 | Houston Restaurant Week | Tobiuo Sushi & Bar | Katy, Texas | First Course

Our first course was pretty bleugh overall. I believe the coconut shrimp was the best out of everything flavourwise.

2018 | Houston Restaurant Week | Tobiuo Sushi & Bar | Katy, Texas | Second Course

Our second course blew me away! I was surprised to find that I had nine pieces of sashimi instead of six as stated on the menu. Everything was pretty good overall for this course.

2018 | Houston Restaurant Week | Tobiuo Sushi & Bar | Katy, Texas | Third Course

Scruffy and I got the same for our third course. The ribeye was very flavourful and tender. Probably one of the best I’ve had in a while. Mallory’s salmon was pretty good too. I especially loved the crispy skin.

2018 | Houston Restaurant Week | Tobiuo Sushi & Bar | Katy, Texas | Fourth Course

Four our fourth and final course, we were deeply disappointed. The waiter said the watermelon dessert was his favourite but it was horrible. Think of a watermelon soaked in lemon-citris juice. The summer shaved ice was a big giant fail. JJ had fun eating the fruit out of it though. The winner was the Lychee Ice Cream with Macarons.

2018 | 241/365 | Houston Restaurant Week | Tobiuo Sushi & Bar | Katy, Texas | Favourite People

[2018] 241/365: Dinner with Some Favourites

It’s usually just Mallory, JJ and I at dinner or over at her house so I was very estatic that Scruffy was around to join us. With him and Mallory chatting up a storm I was able to chopstick feed JJ and focus on him. He is adorable and makes me wish my niece was closer to us so I could do the same with her.

After dinner we all stopped by Sephora before heading home. I’m so pooped. I cannot wait to jump into bed. Good night!
