Erin’s Happy Hour at Watson’s

May 28, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Work was quite chill today since not many people were in the office. I got all my work done and even managed to finish a whole entire module and then some in my studies.

Erin's Going Away Happy Hour | Watson's

Today was Erin’s first happy hour for her going away at Watson’s. Christopher, Juhi, Jade, Miao, Chase, and Amelia all showed up. We had fun talking about languages and many tried to pronounce my name, failing horribly. I had fish and chips and two beers before calling it a night.

I forgot about the happy hour and used my free Redbox code and pre-rented A Simple Favour. I think that’s what it’s called. I hope it’s good. I like both those ladies. So since it’s getting late. Shower, get ready for bed, then cuddles with my pups while watching the movie.

Good night world!

Day of Food

Little Sheep Hot Pot with Sissy, BIL, and June

I don’t remember much of yesterday other than it was super relaxing. June and I took Mum and Dad to the airport, bought groceries and relaxed at home until it was lunch with Sissy and BIL at Little Sheep Hot Pot. I don’t eat as much as I used to and it shows when I go to places like these or buffets. I’m excited for the new places opening in the new Chinatown. Lots of new places to try!

Tilapia and Curried Vegetables with Priscilla

We went home and I got some studying and nap in before heading over to Priscilla’s for dinner. Delicious fish and curried vegetables. Lots of wine and great conversations. We’re currently watching What Men Want and I’m super tired already. Hopefully I can stick it through and make the long drive home!

Jollibee & Pottery with Noah

May 24, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

This week has been hell when it came to getting sleep. I probably got a total of two to three hours a night while continually waking up during those “sleeping hours”. Last night I slept less than two hours and was thankful for London and I’s different time zones. We texted while I surfed Reddit until I fell back asleep. Sadly the alarm rang ten minutes later and soon enough, I was out the door.

Jollibee | Noah

Work went by so fast since. I sat outside and worked with Erin and Joel while they ate their lunch. I left a little early to pick up Noah from my old job and headed to our usual spot, Jollibee, for a late lunch. The whole ride to there and while standing in the long line, I updated him about everything that’s been going on since I last saw him at the beginning of January.

The Mad Potter | Noah | Before

Then he goes and talks about his stuff while we finished eating and while we drove to The Mad Potter. He painted an elephant mug for the girl he’s going to ask out Monday, and I painted a vase/cup type thing because I had no clue what to paint and it was one of the cheapest options.

The Mad Potter | Noah | After

We finally finished hours later. He kept asking for my artistic opinions on what to do with his elephant and it turned out super cute. There is even inscriptions on the inside which she will love! I just went the simple route and painted in the geometric shapes. Hopefully they come out okay. Mum or June can possible use it as flower pot!

Chick-fil-a Ice Cream Cones | Noah

Before taking him home, Noah treated us to Chick-fil-a ice creams. Did you guys know they have three different sizes? Same size cone but the swirl is either kids, small, or large. We both opted for the kids size and I cannot even imagine what the large would be like.

I dropped him off and although I had invites to some places, I declined. I did agree to thirty minutes of Switch play online with Mallory but my forgetfulness resulted in crushed plans due to an uncharged Switch. Whoops.

I’ve opted to work on some online training from a cloud-based software company instead of going out to party. My company will be using this and I’d like to get a jump start so I can get a better idea of what this can do for our team and start throwing out solutions to our issues. I could block out time every day to take these during work hours but it’s just been a bit too hectic so I’m trying to do them whenever I can.

If this is how I end up spending my three day weekend, I don’t think I’d mind one bit.

Flood of Memories

May 23, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

A few months back, some work emails between me and another company surfaced a separate email from one of the ladies to ask if I was from Hong Kong. Because she was and she doesn’t really get to “meet” any other Cantonese speakers. She then shared she used to live in Houston until recently having to move to Colorado. We became friends on Facebook, traded mobile numbers, and once in a while, we will have niceties.

Today I get a text from her that she and her old calculus student added one another on Facebook and saw that her student had a mutual friend with me. I’m not too certain how she found this out but I didn’t question it. Small world. The mutual friend I have with her student was Ashy, Scruffy’s dad. And I come to find out, Scruffy’s cousin is the student.

It’s crazy how everyone is connected, one way or another. And even though it’s been a while, seeing those names flood memories back and takes you to another place and time.

Panera Bread with Osvaldo, Monica, Erin

Work has been a rollercoaster this week. So many people are out on vacation or sick that it’s stressful being “one of the only ones” that can fix the issues. And I don’t even know everything since I’m still pretty new.

I haven’t been hungry all week but when Wacko and Erin asked if I wanted to go to lunch with them and Monica, I was just glad to be able to get away, off-campus and enjoy conversations about anything BUT work. We went down a few memory lane trips since I’ve known Wacko since 2007 and Monica since 2008. Erin was the latest, 2013 I believe.

Luckily tomorrow is Friday, which I’m more than likely going to leave early if shiet doesn’t hit the fan again. Three day weekend. Next week will be a three day work week before having another three day weekend. Why can’t every week be this way?

Emergency Vet Clinic

May 22, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Rizzo hasn’t been himself since I got home from work yesterday. No following me around, no jumping for joy, no wanting to go potty, no walking up the stairs, no eating or drinking. And this morning he didn’t want to get out of bed and was shaking violently.

I was hoping it’ll pass by the time I got home today but no change and on top of it all he kept hiding under things. For anyone that knows him well enough, they’ll know how strange it is to have a quiet car with him inside.

Emergency Vet Clinic for Rizzo

I’ve been at the emergency pet clinic for over two hours now and they’re going to rule it a back injury and have given me medications. No jumping and we have to limit his walking.

I keep telling myself he’ll be okay but I also think about Daisy and how we all thought it wasn’t as big of an issue and she would be okay and I just can’t stop thinking. Hoping he has a speedy recovery and back to his old self soon.
