Erin’s Last Day

Maria was nice enough to get Shipley’s donuts, donut holes, and kolaches for the team as a goodbye to Erin. Her big hoopla happy hour with the team is not until next Thursday so I guess you can say this is a pre-goodbye.

Erin, Angie, and Josh went to get lunch at Mexico’s Deli. I was stuck in a meeting so I met up with them later. It was surprisingly delicious except for the fact that they need a fly trap. The taco truck is still my favourite place though. Note to self: go back to the taco truck soon!

Work settled down but ever since everyone found out Erin was leaving, it’s been a whole lot of crazy. I sat in some meetings with her and now too many people trust me on things that have nothing to do with me. Help …

Jake came into the office so we went and got lunch at Rattan with Erin, Juhi, Wacko, and Omar after the handover meeting. I’ve always wanted to try this place and I’m glad I finally got to. Everything was surprisingly good, even the dessert that came with the lunch order!

Astros v Brewers & George Springer Bobblehead

My old team had a few extra tickets to the Astros vs Brewers game and I was lucky enough to be invited. I got a George Springer Bobblehead that Brudda has been trying to call dibs on.

I’ve been craving Shake Shack and had mistaken it to be at the Toyota Center. Imagine my surprise when we saw it as we were walking towards our seats. Their fries are probably my number one favourite.

Glad I got to sit with Erin as tomorrow will be her last day. We, along with a lot of my old team members had a great time. This is by far one of the best Astros games I’ve been to.

Joel came and sat with me for a while majority of the people went to get drinks. Wacko was nice enough to get me a beer and Joel saw me trying to take a picture, just went and grabbed it out of my hand and held it for me. I asked if I can use his services if his wife was okay with it. Can you imagine having an assistant every time you wanted to get a shot? He even complied when I was making a boomerang. Boys, take note.

Erin's Going Away Happy Hour 2 | Yardhouse | Old Fashioned

Erin had her second going-away happy hour at Yardhouse tonight. Only a select few were invited. I was the only one who isn’t on that team anymore and the first happy hour I’ve had with Delisha since we’ve both been back at this company. It was nice getting to hang out with them again outside of the office and reminisce about the past.

We ordered way too much food and I felt pretty horrible since the company picked up the tab. I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to the company paying for my stuff unless it’s for business travel purposes. Two more days until Erin is leaving the company. Looking forward to her third and finally happy hour next Thursday though.

I’m not always spontaneous. I like to think about all the positives and negatives before making big decisions especially when it comes to spending a big chunk of money. But in less than 24 hours of joking about taking a trip, I ended up booking tickets. I am excited to fly away from reality for a bit and spend time with one of my bests soon. I’ve been researching and hiking will definitely be on our itinerary. Eeek!

My voice is still wrecked from when I was coughing up my lung but I picked up the guitar and started playing through really old songs. This one brings me back to college with a friend who would knock on my door many times, day or night, with tears streaming down her face. The only thing she wanted was for me to play my guitar and sing to her. This was one of the songs she would repeatedly request.

Because of these interactions with her, I ended up writing something in her point of view. I later turned that into a forty-second piano ballad which is still hilarious to me because I don’t even know how to play the piano. It’s still one of my favourite, most powerful pieces ever.

Crawfish & Noods

A long overdue crawfish session with Salim. It was apparently his second time having it and the first time this year. Who is this kid? We went to Jolynn’s since it seems to be equal driving for both of us. They’re more pricey and we didn’t really see many other customers there but their flavouring is still pretty great. I was surprised that he was okay with eating the heads!

Afterward, his fingers were burning and his lips were on fire so he suggested ice cream but he got too excited when I said there were a lot of boba places around so we ended up at Sharetea. I got the Taro Milk Tea and he got some kind of other milk tea. I wasn’t really paying attention. It was nice getting to talk nerdy stuff with him as we usually tend to be in a group.

Tim and Tara had a going away dinner tonight at Damian’s Cucina Italiana. She is so adorable with the decorations and games. It was crazy how Eric walked in and the girl he has been seeing for the last four months is My-Linh, a girl that I knew back in college. We pretty much just all sat together and caught up.

Free bread for the table. Tara was sweet enough to order a few plates of appetizers (breaded asparagus, calamari, and some type of gnocchi) for the table. I got lobster bisque and Shrimp Damian. I was so full that I gave some of my food away. Every single thing there was delicious. This might just be my favourite Italian restaurant now. Well worth the money I spent. My-Linh was sweet enough to pay for my old fashioned. I don’t suggest ordering an old fashioned there though because they splashed in tonic water which is not how it’s made so that was a bummer.

Today has been filled with delicious foods that my stomach is a little too happy. I’m going to try and fit in a bit of studies before bed and maybe finish Chernobyl. Night, world!
