2019 Cousin’s Trip | Day 1

October 5, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Hi from Arizona! Our 1st annual cousin’s trip has begun. It could be our last depending on how things go but so far so good.

2019 Cousin's Trip | Houston to Phoenix | Pappasitos Steak Breakfast Taco

I spent the night at Sissy and BIL’s so Sarah ended up meeting up at the house. We drove, parked our car and made our way through TSA. We ended up getting a taco from Pappasitos. It was not the very best as it was super greasy and hard to hold. Never again.

2019 Cousin's Trip | Houston to Phoenix | Southwest Mimosa

I got a free drink ticket from Sarah and ordered myself a mimosa. I didn’t know they give you the whole tiny bottle! I started Five Feet Apart and cried the whole time until we landed. Ugly crying with snot and all. I didn’t finish the ending yet but it’s definitely not a plane movie with all the emotions that runs through you.

The Houston folk and Dallas folk had around the same time flights. Timothy on the other hand came from Seattle. But it all worked out that by the time we got our rental cars we were all there at the same time. We stopped at Target to buy snacks and water before heading to lunch.

2019 Cousin's Trip | Matt's Big Breakfast | Phoenix, Arizona

We ended up at Matt’s Big Breakfast. I got to try a bloody Mary, which is not something I’d ever order with all that sodium, and a mimosa flight. I really liked the apricot mimosa. Food wise was the scramble scramble. I ordered a side of bacon just in case it didn’t come out okay. Everything ended up being pretty dang good but if I come here next time I’m good with bacon and potatoes. With an apricot mimosa of course!

2019 Cousin's Trip | Papago Park Hole in the Wall | Phoenix, Arizona

We drove and hiked up Papago Park’s Hole in a Rock. It’s crazy how nature makes such beautiful views. This wasn’t a crazy hike but the kind of hike I like. Short, not hours and hours long, and you get to see such beautiful views.

2019 Cousin's Trip | Driving to Flagstaff

Then began the two and a half hour drive to Flagstaff. I jammed out to music while I drove and we stopped for a pee break and for the other car to change drivers before we finally made it. The views were so beautiful and I was a little sad I couldn’t take pictures since I was driving.

2019 Cousin's Trip | Portabella Jerky

Joanna had loot from her conference so we now have a lot of snacks. One of them is the Portabella Jerky. Surprisingly not bad and BIL, the hater of mushrooms even tried and ate it all. If he could chose, he wouldn’t eat it but he doesn’t hate it which says a lot.

2019 Cousin's Trip | Fat Olives | Flagstaff, Arizona

We chilled around the house watching football and baseball before heading out for dinner at Fat Olives. Guy Fieri came her for Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. We ended up ordering both the things he tried and they were both a lot more amazing than I thought. There were two pieces of deli meat in Sissy’s salad and it was pretty dang good too. I wish I knew what it was so I could get some!

2019 Cousin's Trip | Starry Night from Airbnb

We went back to our Airbnb and looked out at the sky. The temperature feels so nice to where I was freezing. I managed to get a shitty picture of the stars in the sky. I’m hoping I will get better when I actually have more time and with foreground.

Half of us are asleep or getting ready to sleep while the other half is up watching the Astros game. It’s against Kiran’s team, Tampa Bay, so it’s funny to hear them.

Night world!

2019 | Rizzo Turns Six

October 4, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2019 | Rizzo's 6th Birthday

Happiest 6th birthday to my baby boy! I celebrated him by getting him a bully stick and a new toy. One of the pet stores we go to give out a birthday coupon so his new toy was free. The last time he had a bully stick was over a year ago so he was a happy camper and even growled when Bruno and Kato came close to him.

Gyu Kaku with Noah

For lunch I went to pick up Noah for a catch up with his college life. We went to Gyu Kaku and ordered way too much food. When I went to drop him off at his truck we ended up staying in my car for almost an hour singing and harmonizing. We’ve talked about making YouTube videos of us playing and singing but it hasn’t happened because life.

National Taco Day | Taco Bell

To celebrate National Taco day June and I went to get a couple of tacos from Taco Bell. Hmm, maybe I should use my crunchwrap recipe to make tacos next time. Who wants to join me?

I am stuffed. Good thing I’ll be walking off everything these next few days!

Hustlers the Movie

October 3, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Chick-fil-A Spicy Chicken Filet

Did you know you could get just the filet at Chick-fil-A for a dollar less than the sandwich itself? I was hoping it could be a little cheaper but this way I don’t feel so bad about eating the carbs I don’t like anyway!

Hustlers Movie with Mallory

I met Mallory at AMC to watch Hustlers. It was a good movie but I don’t know if I loved it enough to watch it again. Kudos to the actors though. It must have been pretty tough having to wear skimpy clothes and run around. You have to be super confident to do that. And we both didn’t find out that it was a true story until it started rolling.

By the time I got home I was pooped. I’ve been packing since I’ve gotten home and I have no clue what I need or don’t need. I love to travel but I hate packing.

2019 | Midland Work Trip

2019 Midland Work Trip | Houston to Midland

My first work trip to Midland since I started on this team. Since our flight was at 7am Michelle and her husband picked me up for the airport.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Chick-fil-A Breakfast

Since we were there an hour and a half early we grabbed Chick-fil-A. I’ve never had their chicken biscuit before and per usual, not a big fan of biscuits since they crumble so easily. The spicy chicken was perfect though.

2019 Midland Work Trip | View of Well Pads

Soon enough we were able to board along with Kara, Phil, and Christopher. It’s kind of cool to see the well pads especially so close to the airport. But it also makes me sad that so much nature is gone because of it.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Starbucks National Coffee Day

We got our rental and headed to Starbucks for a pick me up. It was also national coffee day so it was perfect. We went a detour way and saw an actual tumbleweed! Later when we were in the airport looking at souvenirs we saw a tumbleweed shirt and I really wanted one. They’re actually kinda cute.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Chick-fil-A Lunch

We started our presentation for the production technicians. I only paid attention and spoke for my small tiny part. Because of that Christopher and I actually got a lot of work done. We had Chick-fil-A for lunch. I had their superfoods salad today and I fell in love. They just need to add some chicken to it and it’ll be perfect. Phil gave me his chips and cookies which now sits in my backpack for a rainy day.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Airport Statues

We went to the airport and saw these statues. When I see the dog, I think he’s holding up a middle finger but I know that’s not the case.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Midland to Houston

We were supposed to get home around 9pm but we were able to get on an earlier flight and got home around 7pm. I had the pleasure of riding in a car the company usually calls for rides. I felt a little fancy.

I actually had fun on my first Midland trip though I hope I get to visit a rig one day soon. That would be pretty cool.

Trader’s Village

September 29, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Green Mimosa and Mani Pedi

Started off the day with a green mimosa and a medi pedi. I went with two different shades of orange to channel my inner Halloween and fall.

Yummy Crawfish & Seafood | Katy, Texas | Mum & June

I met up with Mum and June at Yummy Crawfish & Seafood. My heart is happy. No crawfish but I’ve been moving on to snow crabs lately and their shrimp is always perfect. We took the sauce home to make more shrimps in. Yum!

Trader's Village | Houston, Texas | Ed

I went home and relax because food coma then Ed came and picked me up. Everyone who knows me knows that I hate driving so I love when people come and pick me up.

We headed to Trader’s Village. They have a lot of stalls there but not much of things I’d want to buy. I picked out something for Emmy only because it was new. Other than that we mostly ate and drank fresh juices.

Kung Fu Tea | Katy, Texas | Ed

We stopped by for some Kung Fu Tea since our conversation started to get pretty deep. It’s crazy how long I’ve known him yet we both don’t see each other a lot. That’s what makes this friendship so easy.

It’s going to be a very busy week especially since my vacation is coming up. Flying to the field office Tuesday for work and flying to Arizona on Saturday for the Cousin Trip. Fingers crossed it’ll be a pretty simple week though.
