It’s The Weekend!

Pappadeaux | Houston, Texas | Non-Ops Team Lunch

I was invited to have lunch with a different team since I support them. They decided on Pappadeaux and from what I could understand from the manager, it seems I’ll be invited to others down the line. We all shared appetizers and each got to order an entree. I was able to make conversation with everyone and learned more about them which helps build relationships and such. I’m not so nervous around the manager now due to being invited to these things so that helps. Our own team doesn’t even do this so it’s nice to get away from the desk.

2019 Halloween Goodie Bags

When we got back the Halloween party had already started. I think this is the first time any Halloween stuff has been celebrated at work with goodie bags and everything. It’s nice that the admins did that and even got the managers to say something nice.

I went and mentored the high schoolers today. They asked if I’d come back next year when though they’d already have graduated. I told them I don’t know because I don’t want any other kids. I like them and it’s sad to watch people leave. Then I got teary eyed thinking of them graduating from high school, going to college, graduating and getting jobs. I love watching people grow.

We are packed and currently about to fall asleep at Sissy’s as our adventure starts tomorrow. It’s going to be freezing and we don’t have anything planned. We’d probably just stuff our faces only. Fingers crossed all goes well.

World Series Bummer

Astros vs Nationals World Series | King's Court | Houston, Texas | Food

Sissy, BIL, Timothy and I went to King’s Court to watch the final World Series game. We were going to go to Pitch 25 but it was too busy. We were able to snag a table at King’s, ordered a buttload of food and watched without worries.

Sadly we lost and it was a huge dissapointment but watching in that environment was worth the traffic. The upside is no honking throughout the night and I can actually sleep. One more day of work before the weekend to Denver!

Astros vs Nationals World Series at 8th Wonder Brewery

2019 Astros vs Nationals World Series | 8th Wonder Brewery

While we were at work, Timothy texted and asked where we were watching the game. In less than 30 minutes we decided to venture to 8th Wonder Brewery to watch with Sissy, BIL, and Sarah. Luckily Timothy was nice enough to drive so that I could take a nap in the car.

2019 Astros vs Nationals World Series | 8th Wonder Brewery | Beers and Eastie Boy Food

We ordered beers and food from Eastie Boy food truck. They had a deal going on where if you order a Wonder Burger you get one token for beer. I didn’t use them all but saving it for next time.

The atmosphere is definitely different here than watching at home. But sadly we left before the last inning. I guess I’ll be seeing them tomorrow. We’ve dubbed Sarah bad luck and she won’t be joining us tomorrow. Jokes but … not.

Meeting Jacob & Reunion with Sebastian

October 28, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Footworks Boutique | Katy, Texas

My feet were tired from all the dancing I did last night so the first thing I did this morning was a one hour foot massage at Footworks. I fell asleep and I’m certain all of them heard me snoring. I had planned to do this with Mallory a few weeks ago as a birthday present but Jacob decided to be born and so we’d have to do a raincheck.

2019 | Mallory Birthday Lunch | Chick-fil-a & Tiff's Treats

I had Tiff’s Treats delivered to Janna’s house since that’s where Mallory was due to JJ getting strep. They were happy with Chick-fil-A sandwiches for lunch. So easy to please. She opened her baby presents, birthday presents and JJ’s birthday present as well.

Baby Jacob and Mellie Dee | 1st Meeting

After we caught up and ate I was able to hold baby Jacob. He is so much tinier than when JJ was a baby. He smiles when he sleeps and makes a lot of sounds with heavy breaths. I cannot wait to see how he interacts with JJ as he grows up.

2019 | JJ's Birthday Present

JJ on the otherhand was feeling much better so Mallory got to go home with Jacob. She sent me a couple of pictures of him playing with the present I got him. It seems to be JJ approved! Love his smiles.

Torchy's Taco | Katy, Texas | Sebastian

I picked up groceries on the way home, took a nap, meal prepped then went on my way to meet Sebastian at Torchy’s. We haven’t seen each other in almost two years and we live so close to one another. I guess that’s what being a grown up is. We spent two and a half hours catching up in deep conversation per usual. We didn’t notice the time until they were cleaning up to close.

I’m pooped from so much social interaction these past couple of days. Luckily it’s only three work days until the weekend!

Jenny’s & Kemp’s Wedding

October 27, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I’m going to cheat and write as if I published this yesterday because I didn’t get home til almost one am and I was pooped from the drive.

2019 | Sissy's Birthday Celebration at Sushi 9

I was supposed to meet up with Jakob for lunch but due to timing and having to drive to Montgomery for the wedding our timing didn’t work out as planned. Instead I had lunch with Sissy and the family to celebrate her birthday at Sushi 9.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Montgomery, Texas

After running a couple of errands I headed to my over an hour drive to Montgomery, Texas for Jenny and Kemp’s wedding. The drive wasn’t as bad as I thought and seeing this sight made my heart happy.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Selfie

I was kind of feeling myself since I haven’t put on full eye makeup in a long time.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Decorations

Her decorations were on point and I loved the wooden name touch. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it but I love it.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Saying "I Do"

There was an announcement to not take pictures during the ceremony but I’m a rebel. But don’t worry, they photographer and videographer were standing next to where I was sitting so I wasn’t in their way!

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Emma

I finally got to meet Emma, Wacko & Monica’s daughter. She’s already so grown! She was very shy but still uttered hello to me and gave me high fives and kisses.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Food & Drinks

They catered from Goode Barbeque and had open bar. Everything from the venue to the food and drinks were on point. I’ve found out I like Crown Apple with Cranberry juice as well.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Mellie Dee with Bride & Groom

I was lucky to snag a picture with the lovely couple. Her dress was so freaking gorgeous! Speaking of dresses, my dress had both the bridesmaid and groomsmen colours! How crazy on point was that.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Bride & Groom

These two are so silly, so loving, and so perfect for one another. They’ve both grown a lot as well and I’m so honoured to have witness them tie the knot.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Wacko, Tony, Rachel, Ann with Mellie Dee

It was also great to see familiar faces again too. Well other than Wacko since I work with him and see him practically every day.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Photobooth

But this family always makes me feel very welcomed and always makes me feel like I belong. There were no anxieties walking into the Big Sky Barn alone because I knew with them I felt at home.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Drive Thru

It was a gorgeous wedding. We danced the night away and caught up. There was drunk talk, drunk crying, and drunk love. Don’t worry, that wasn’t me. But I witnessed it all and my heart is full with love for each and every one of them.

The drive home wasn’t horrible since I was still high from all the love and fun we had.
