Lia’s Last Day & Case Study Competition

July 18, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Lia and Reis & Irvy's Froyo

A busy morning resulted in less than thirty minutes to say goodbye to Lia. She’s going off on maternity leave but even after the leave is over, she’s quitting to do life with her husband and newborn for his fellowship. I enjoyed some delicious froyo and Michael who used to be on her team stayed and caught up with us as well.

Case Study Presentations and Free Lunch

After a couple of more meetings I headed off to practice my speech with the team. Nerves and all, we walked into the competition room and grabbed our lunches. We sat through two presentations before ours. We did horribly but we pushed through and listened to one last presentation before they were announcing the winners.

Although our team didn’t win, I won a door raffle prize of a cap. I don’t have a picture because then you’ll know where I work if you Google it. I’m glad I took home some prize rather than nothing at all. It was a different experience than I thought and I doubt I’d do another one in the future. I might just attend as a guest though.

Off to relax before another busy day tomorrow. Night, world!

Spaghetti Casserole

July 11, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Work went swimmingly well. The nerd in me was excited to make flow charts all day today and not have to really worry about other things.

Spaghetti Casserole by Mallory

After work I stopped by and picked up some cookies for Mallory as a suprised. She made a very delicious spaghetti casserole and although it’s not the healthiest, it’s pretty damn delicious.

Afterward we played the Switch then watched Big Brother. She has a strong love for reality television and it’s been years since I’ve watched this show.

I’m off tomorrow but will be working a little bit in the morning. Then it’s a jam packed weekend. I’m happy to be seeing so many individuals but know I will need downtime to recharge.

I’m ready for cuddles with Rizzo and bedtime. Night, world!

Night of Games

July 3, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Work was pretty long but at the same time, very relaxed. Many meetings but the in between was pretty laid back.

Pepper Twins | Houston, Texas | Erin, Erin's Mum, Christopher

Christopher and I met Erin and her mum at Pepper Twins for an early dinner. We feasted on such delicious Asian food that it reminded me of home. Her mum was so gracious in paying and we had so much left over. This is a new place I can go to when I want somewhat authentic Asian food. Win!

Bowl & Barrel | Houston, Texas | Erin, Christopher, Juhi

I went home and played with Emmy and put her to bed before heading back out meeting up for Erin’s super last hurrah at Bowl & Barrel. We bowled a game and a half before our time was up. I was horrible this time. I chuck it to being so tired.

The Escape Game | Houston, Texas

We went across the street and tried The Escape Game. We chose the next available, Special Ops: Mysterious Market.

The Escape Game | Houston, Texas | Special Ops: Mysterious Market

And we escaped!! This was one of the best escape rooms I’ve been at and if makes me super excited about the one I have coming up with my family next weekend.

We are currently at Yardhouse getting a drink and chomping on some apps so good night world!

Bark Box

July 2, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I accomplished something at work all by myself. Something I’ve been out of practice with for so long. Once that was accomplished I was too happy and didn’t even mind having to stay late for other things.

BarkBox and Rizzo

Doesn’t it look like he’s smiling? He was very interested in his first and probably only Bark Box. I only got it because there was a big discount using a code.

BarkBox and Rizzo 2

I made him sit still so I could get these pictures. It was New York themed hence the Statue of Liberty head and Chinese takeout boxes with three little baos. So freaking adorable.

BarkBox and Rizzo 3

He was most interested in the sausage chew but I’m saving that for sometime this weekend. He and Rocky did enjoy the Bark of the Wild treats. They are wheat, corn, and soy free which is a plus since Rizzo does have a sensitive stomach.

AJI Ramen | Katy, Texas

Sissy came over and we ordered AJI Ramen. Everything was salty and the taste overall was sub-par. Sissy didn’t think it was as bad. It could be because of the delivery factor but I don’t think this would be a place I’d go to again.

We spent time playing with Emmy, rolling around on the floor and such and gave her a bath. It was nice getting time with her and Sissy since those are pretty rare.

Milk Cow with Emmy

July 1, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Milk Cow | Katy, Texas | Mango and Hazelnut

I worked a little longer than I planned but was happy that there was not a lot of traffic since many were off on vacation. Also because my gas tank light came on. Whoops.

I took Mum and Emmy to Milk Cow for some dessert. I loved hearing her say “ooooooo pretty!” When she saw the cotton candy. And the way she says ice cream makes my heart melt. Pun intended.

Milk Cow | Katy, Texas | Emmy

Don’t worry, she didn’t get her own. She had a little bit of mine and a little bit of Mum’s. Her hands were a sticky mess. I wasn’t a big fan of her holding my hand afterward but I didn’t mind.

A couple of days left with this cutie. I’m trying to get as much Emmy time as I can. It’s been nice coming home to her smiling face. I’m tired but I love getting to play music for her and laugh and play with her.
