“Book the Flight”

September 17, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Dove | Book That Flight

We’ve been talking about going to London to visit my cousin, Patricia, so when I saw this I sent it to my siblings. But what if it meant book a flight for work? Because that’s what happened. I’ll be heading to the field for a day, or is it the office?, in October before the cousin trip. My boss wants us to stay for two days but with the time crunch it wasn’t going to happen.

Happy Hour | Delisha | Next Door Bar & Lounge | Houston, Texas

I left work early today so Delisha and I could have a catch up. Even though we now work close together again, we never see one another. It was nice to get out of the office and talk about anything and everything. It has always been that way with her and I’m glad our friendship is still there after all these years.

Few more days and it’ll be the weekend. I’m excited to do absolutely nothing.

BOGO Raising Cane’s Chicken Boxes

Chick-fil-A Lunch Boxes

Guys, these Chick-fil-A lunch boxes make me happy. We were expecting nasty sandwiches or something and was so exited that if wasn’t that. They even had spicy chicken sandwiches. I grabbed the nuggets by mistake but better that way since I would have only eaten the chicken anyway.

I got approval by our asset boss for a project I’ve been trying to push! It’s a big accomplishment. Now we wait and hope it passes the board and we get funding for it. Eeek!

Collegiant Challenge Mentoring | Papa John's

Collegiant Challenge Mentoring began today. The kids were so excited to see me and I gained another one. One of them even went and got me a slice of pizza because I was hungry and didn’t know mentors could have any. I’m sad it’s the last semester with them and after December I won’t see them again. Hopefully we stay in touch because they are so sweet and have such a bright future ahead!

Houston Dynamo Win Equals BOGO Raising Cane's

Since the Dynamos won they had a Jack in the Box deal, I think. The other one was that if they make two or more goals, you get BOGO of the Raising Cane’s chicken boxes! So I did just that. I gave June my other one. I forget how juicy their chicken is. Thought they could do better with their fries.

It’s been a pretty long and rough week. I’m glad tomorrow is Friday. I have to work but I’m happy I have a chill and relaxing weekend.

Houston Dynamo vs Minnesota United FC

Houston Dynamo vs Minnesota United FC

After work I headed over to Sissy and BIL’s. Timothy met up with us an hour later and we headed over to the Houston Dynamo vs Minnesota United FC game. They had $1 hotdogs and $3 beers so we got a few. I got chicken tenders and fries as well though I couldn’t eat most of the fries and gave them away. I think not eating fries or potatoes for a long time actually made me not as big of a fan of them anymore. Weird, huh?

Houston Dynamo vs Minnesota United FC | 2 Goals Before Half

We scored two goals before the halftime and we won with the same score. There was a scare that Minnesota scored one bit after the replay they realized that one of the players used their arms and disqualified their goal. The place looks empty but we had all the people on our side due to the cheap seats.

It was fun to get out and go to a sporting event. It’s been awhile since we’ve done this. I’m going we can get a NFL game and NBA game in too. That would be the dream!

Mentoring 3rd Graders

Mentoring Elementary Third Graders

Today was the first day Christopher and I went to mentor a couple of 3rd graders. They are so sweet. My girl talked so much so it was pretty easy.

We missed part of their recess since we couldn’t find the front office so by the time we got through the tour it was time for their lunch.

They ate and we each got to know our own kid. Then we played Jenga with Christopher and his kid before we decided to do a “All About Me” sheet. I didn’t know what to write on some so I made it up.

Chick-fil-A Lunch

We ended up getting Chick-fil-A and brought it back to our desks to eat while we worked. I’ve been craving it so when Christopher said he wanted that for lunch, I didn’t fight him on it.

The rest of the day was a mess of issues. I ended up staying later than I wanted and ended up working a little bit just now but tomorrow is a new day.

Mentoring the kids gave me a break away from my desk so it was nice. It made the day go by faster and seeing the kids so excited that we were there and wishing we could come everyday puts a smile on my face.

Mallory’s Fried Rice

September 9, 2019 by Mellie Dee 1 Comment

Mallory's Fried Rice

I headed over to Mallory’s after work today. She made fried rice which was delicious. She went heavy with the sesame oil but that’s one of my favourite things so it made it that much better. I wanted more but I had to control myself from eating too many carbs.

JJ was very wild today but happy. I like hearing his laugh and watching his imagination go wild. I wonder how he’ll do once Jake is born. If he’s going to be as wild too or calmer.

I haven’t seen Mallory in a couple of weeks and it’s only going to get tougher since my mentorship for the high school starts and as my workload gets shifted. I cannot wait for my fall vacation coming up. I’m leaving work behind this time so hopefully everyone can survive two work days without me. I am excited to get my hike on and take more photographs. I need more travel buddies. Sign up here!
