Empathetic

February 14, 2012 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I was having a conversation on Facebook Chat with Brother Bear while Jenny and I were chilling on my bed on our laptops talking and laughing about things.

It resulted to me asking him a question because I needed a guy’s opinion on something. He answers “Hold up, I’m thinking”, to him knocking on my apartment door. We had a 20 minute or so hang out with Jenny and Deana. Then they headed for bed and he and I had almost a 2 hour conversation.

Love talking to him because he lifts me up whenever I’m feeling down or uncertain about something. He always tells me to never give up and to think about “What if?”

So it breaks my heart when I hear when he’s down or uncertain about stuff. I guess you can say I can feel his heart breaking like it was my own. I’m one of those empathetic people. It always hurts when I cannot help ease their pain.

He deserves so much but never gets anything in return. I know whatever happens though, he’ll be okay and he’s strong enough to get overcome anything.

He knows my blog now so … if you’re reading this Travis … you’re the best Brother Bear ever! And everything will be okay. And I hope you’re not mad I’m writing about this in here.

On happier news, I finished my song. Open-mouthed smile  Lalala … and I feel great about it.

Injuries Suck

February 13, 2012 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I’m in the worst pain I’ve been in a long time. Shin splints came back. Along with my old knee injury.  I brush it off like I’m fine but when I was coming home, walking up the stairs, I almost fell down. Mmm … fun stuff.

Tomorrow’s the basketball game and last one for the week. No athletic stuff until next Tuesday. Thank goodness.

I emailed my teacher today and asked him if I could take my test next Tuesday instead of tomorrow. He said yes. Score! Smile

Now it’s time to finish my homework and relax.

But before I do that, here’s a story of Dying Texas man gets wish, holds newborn daughter.

Hope your Monday is going well.

My Wall Is Up Too High

February 13, 2012 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Tonight I got one of the most heartbreaking calls in my life. Eric S. called to tell me about everything he went through. I bet me crying on the other end as he spoke wasn’t helping matters. It’s been almost a month since his mum’s passing. I am horrible when it comes to death and in a way I think he knew … so I only texted him telling him I was there for him. He talked about the events from the last time I saw him and his parents at their house that led up to where he is now. How he tries to be strong but breaks down once in a while. Him asking God for a sign and getting it in his dream. All I could do was listen. He’s one of the people who I don’t have to see at all and talk once in a blue moon on the phone. But he understands me and I understand him. He spoke until he couldn’t speak anymore. And there was silence on both ends. Sometimes, that’s all that’s needed. Silence to breathe.

Because of all the emotions I felt, I wrote a new song. It’s missing one verse but other than that, it’s done. In some way you can put parts of it with Eric and his mum and other times you could put parts of it with giving up before you fall too fast and get hurt. Up to your interpretation. With all these emotions of pain I’ve been feeling lately, it just seemed appropriate to write and it feels nice to get it out because sometimes acting like everything is okay … hurts.

Now if only I could put to actions with the words I write.

Recording Studio

February 12, 2012 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I went to Football Practice for an hour and a half. I left half an hour early so that I could get ready. I finally had a chance to step foot in a recording studio. Though it’s connected to a house, it was better than I imagined.

Katrina, Preston, Dilip, Ryan Z., and I were present for Micaela who was recording a song for FTK.

Star of the show, Micaela, busting out her song, Capture That Dream. She had several takes and we finally found the right one that had enough emotion and confidence.

Then came the hard part of adding harmonies and the such. I didn’t want to intrude since I was a guest so I would whisper ideas to Ryan Z. (Overall Chairperson for FTK and Micaela’s brother). And when I finally did speak more openly about my ideas, and they used them, it made me all happy. I contributed to the final product and it feels damn nice.

Ryan and I during one of the playbacks.

The producer is going to put in some beats and see how it sounds. I cannot wait to hear all the different versions and see which one sounds the best!

I’ve always wanted a recording studio, and today it just confirmed it even more. Uh … is it too late to change my major?

FSA Parties

February 12, 2012 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I’m thankful I’ve grown up to realize that I don’t need to pretend to be someone I’m not.

Tonight I looked around the room and saw so many people trying to fit in. They try so hard to get someone to laugh at their jokes or to get some kind of approval. I feel sorry for those people. The sooner they realize trying hard will never get them to fit in, the sooner they realize their own personalities are lovely. That they don’t need to pretend.

I’ve made new friendships tonight and had fun getting to know certain people but it would have been better without the annoying people, loud noises, big crowds, drunk people vomiting everywhere, and the such.

I forgot how FSA parties get …

Football practice tomorrow! I’m ready.
