2020 | Week 6 of Quarantine

April 26, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2020 | Week 6 of Quarantine | Home Eats

Beets. All day everyday. I’ve been obsessed and the air fryer has been my best friend in keeping my belly happy. I also had pigs in a blanket and Spaghetti O’s to relive college days.

2020 | Week 6 of Quarantine | Tarot Reading by Alliana

Alliana started doing tarot readings and asked if I wanted mine read so that she could practice and get more business before she became a professional. Funny enough, every person I know that reached out to her has never met one another and all agreed that she was spot on so she’s well on her way!

2020 | Week 6 of Quarantine | Mellie Dee Masked

I left work early Friday to run errands with June for a couple of hours. Then the downfall came where I was stuck back at work until almost 10pm. No worries though because I had some downtime to do other things. It just sucks when you have to wait for others to turn in their work so you can do yours.

2020 | Week 6 of Quarantine | Rizzo and Yummy Seafood and Oysters | Katy, Texas

We celebrated Saturday by ordering crawfish from my now favourite place, Yummy Seafood and Oysters. We got 8 lbs of crawfish, 2 lbs of shrimp, 2 clusters of snow crab legs, 2 sausages, and mushrooms. Corn and potatoes came for free. Sigh, that’s the stuff. They shorted us a corn and a potato but I guess that’s life of delivery. Also take a look at the bags. It’s a good laugh when I gave them our full names and ended up with those. Whatever works!

2020 | Week 6 of Quarantine | Rizzo and Mellie Dee

Rizzo haven’t been eating. I think he’s depressed I’m at home all day and he doesn’t have alone time. All he does is sleep though but I give him lots of scratches, blueberries and carrots.

2020 | Week 6 of Quarantine | Mellie Dee and Patrica Snapchat Pool

Patricia and I have been playing Snapchat pool. I must say, I’m better online than in person. If anyone is down to play this or Words with Friends, or any other game, hit me up. I’m becoming a pro at it all … Maybe. Mallory’s dad, Mace, is still kicking my butt in Words with Friends except for maybe one or two rounds.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | White Claw & Zebra Cakes

I finally caved and got some alcohol in my system. My grocery delivery came this week and I got my White Claw in. I also went and ordered zebra cakes because I haven’t had it in a long, long time and craved one. I did this in the middle of the day while The Circle was playing in the background.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Rizzo Stares & Judgement

I felt very judged by my coworker. Constant stares into my soul. These quarantine blog posts will always capture him pretty much staring at me like this.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Mellie Dee & Mask

Friday was my day off so I finally went out into the world with my quarantine mask. I feel like I have a face where I look better with a cap on or something covering my face like this. Also, I need to get me eyebrows done. Thankful for my mask covering up my mustache.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Catana Comics - Daily Calendar

June went with me to the work campus. She sat in the car while I went to grab my keyboard, mouse and other knickknacks. One of them was the Catana Comics daily calendar. I’ve missed over a month now and was so happy to look at them and rip them off. These two were some of my favourites from the bunch because it’s pretty much true.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Double Filet o' Fish

We went to get groceries as well since there’s not a lot of people on Friday mornings. We also went and picked up McDonald’s to be a little bad. They have the double Filet o’ Fish but I think I’d stick with the single patty. Not enough bun to fish ratio to tartar and cheese. The fish also flaked off more making it fall apart much easier.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Rizzo Sleeping While Serenading

I spent a couple of hours perfecting my ukulele playing skills. I sang Rizzo many songs as well and this was how he took it all in. He’s gained a lot of weight from just sleeping all the time now that I’m just at home working a lot.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Sopa de Fideo

Check out my creation! Sopa de Fideo! I had my first bowl last December, fell in love, and ever since then wanted to recreate it. I finally found the noodles they use and put my own spin by adding a lot of vegetables. Online recipes didn’t really have anything but soup and noodles so I was very excited when I saw how successful I was. I’ll share the recipe soon but mostly so that I can look back on it when I need it.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Early Birthday Present from Lily

I received my early birthday present from Lily! I love everything inside and excited to use everything! She couldn’t wait to mail it out hence the earliness. No complaints here because it makes it just the more special. I love you!

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Rocky & Rizzo Outside - Kindle

I spent a few hours outside on Saturday, taking in the clean air and cool breeze. Rizzo and Rocky sat with me and somehow, Rizzo ended up sleeping on my lap. I wasn’t against it though since it was a nice warmth. I was able to get through a few chapters but I really need to read more if I want to accomplish my 12 books a year goal. I’ve completed zero and it’s already April!

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Hot Pot

We decided on hot pot for dinner. I made jokes that we should eat well now since we could all lose our jobs soon. We eat less and less every year which is good because that also means more leftovers, saving money.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Diamond Painting #2

I started a new diamond painting and even got others to join in and buy some. Beth is one of them – she found a site and if they are legit and she gets her product, I’m going to order more. I’ve been wanting a square diamonds but haven’t found a design I like. Can’t wait to frame this one – just need to find some frames.

2020 | Week 5 of Quarantine | Rizzo Sleeping on My Shoulder

This quarantine might not be what everyone imagined but I have loved every second of it. Do I miss my family and friends? Yes. But we’re all safe and well, a roof over our heads and food in the fridge. Families are making a lot of memories with their children and cherishing the time they have. Board games, family dinners, etc.

I have a job (for now) and I actually love my job. I have more time to spend with Rizzo since I don’t have to get ready or commute. I am brushing up and catching up with a lot of my hobbies that I never have a lot of time for.

There might be negatives in the world or even your own lives, but there are so many positives as well. If I lose my job I’ll be sad, but I’ll try my best to see it as an opportunity to find something I will love even more.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Work from Home

Working from home isn’t so bad sometimes. This is my set up. Since then I put up a tiny desk on the right for my other laptop so it’s not so crowded. I like online townhalls where I can crochet while listening. I like being able to freely watch shows while working hard on something. Bust most of all, no travels and no needing to look presentable.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Late Night Work From Home Boiled Egg

The only downside is working even more than usual and at very late hours. This was taken around right before midnight on Thursday trying to ensure our scripts go through correctly. Rocky dropped off a hard boiled egg for me courtesy of Mum since I hadn’t eaten.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Tuna and Seaweed

Speaking of food, my go-to no-cook meal is canned tuna mixed with mayo, relish and caynne pepper. I then wrap that all up with seaweed. Sounds weird but it’s so good.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Drinks for the Sick

Many already know I’ve been coughing a log since last Sunday. Not sure why but have been chugging a lot of teas with random things mixed in or lemon water with different things mixed in. It doesn’t seem to be working but we are doubting it’s Coronavirus.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Crocheting & Guitar

Not leaving the house has not been so hard. I get to enjoy all the things I love like crocheting and playing guitar. My audience loves listening to the free concerts I give out. It also helps having calls, video chats and continuous texts with family, friends and coworkers.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Rizzo Dog Treats

Being home made me see how bored the pups are. Rizzo sleeps all day and only moves when I do. I’m sure he moves more when I’m not around but I figured I’d get him some things to do. I got him a big-for-him slice of antler to chew on when he’s bored and once in a while I’ll treat him to a bully stick or tendon stick. He loves them all. Don’t worry, Rocky gets them as well.

I hope you are having a great quarantine time as well!

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine … Kinda

March 20, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Co-pups

Meet my coworkers of the week. One watches my every move while the other sleeps on the job.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Foods

Since I’ve been working from home, I’ve eaten less as well. I don’t feel hungry like I usually do so sometimes my two meals a day become one. No complaints since I’m sure it has to do with not moving as much.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Rocky Thunder & Lightning

Today’s thunder got my sleepy coworker all up in my business. He doesn’t understand boundaries at all.

It was my day off but had to get some things done. This means working less next Friday, right?

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Mallory's, JJ, Banana But Muffins, Frozen 2

Mallory and I made an executive decision for me to go over. It’s been a VERY long time since I’ve seen her. I came in right as they were putting banana nut muffins in the oven. They were delicious!

Beth came over as well for me to give her her belated birthday present. We sat and watched five minutes into Frozen 2 before JJ wanted to watch something else. We had the bubbliest wine ever made and chilled for a bit before I went back home.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Tiff's Treats

June and I have been craving sweets and when I saw that Tiff’s Treats was having only a $5 delivery, I jumped the gun and got some.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Tandoori Grill | Katy, Texas

June decided to get the both of us Tandoori Grill. Mum didn’t want any. We ate a few bites and put the rest away for tomorrow. I’m so excited for papadum and channa masala. Easily my favourite go to now. Don’t worry, I still like my usuals though.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Rizzo & Mellie Dee

I spent some cuddle time with Rizzo. He’s the worst when it comes to taking pictures. But he’s the best movie and television marathon partner ever. I’ve been trying to get out in the sun more and so I’ve taken him on super short walks a couple of times this week. He’s going to get horrible separation anxiety, more than he already has after this quarantine.

Meeting Maggie

March 15, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Ashy and I haven’t seen one another since the day Scruffy and I broke up. We’ve had a handful of pleasantries by texts throughout the year+ and finally made plans for him to stop by since he wanted to give Mum some succulents.

Ashy, Maggie, Rizzo, Mellie Dee

I had the lovely pleasure of finally meeting Maggie the Beagle. She is a little bigger than Rizzo and they got along pretty well. No growls, all love from Rizzo which is a first and with his tail wagging non-stop. I guess he missed Ashy.

We both held each other’s dogs for the hour or so conversation we had catching up about each other’s lives. It was nice to see how happy he is which was all I ever wanted for him.

Ashy and his Plants

When we finished our conversation, he started taking out all the plants and succulents he brought Mum. She was in love with it all. My favourite was the red cactus.

These plants brought back up our usual talk of opening up our own wedding business, 50/50, which he was still down for. Wishing it was true but also afraid to since he said I’d have to bring the business and, let’s be real, I have no friends or connections.

Maggie and Rizzo

Rizzo loved sniffing Maggie’s butt and followed her around our backyard while Ashy and Mum walked around her garden. When I look at Maggie, all I see is Daisy, but with much fresher breath.

We bid our farewells and I continued watching Bitten, a show I started last night and am already on season 3 because I’m crazy like that. I also got to video chat with Emmy and her favourite word right now is booty in Chinese. She said “Goodbye, booty!” in Chinese as she ended our conversation. How lovely.

Salmon and Veggies

I made a lovely baked salmon dinner with ALL the veggies roasted nicely tonight. And I mean all, broccoli, asparagus, zuchinnis, carrots and cherry tomatoes. If you know me, this is my favourite go to dinner to make and eat and have never gotten tired of it. And with the quarantine coming, I’m going to need to search for more salmon!
