Jenny’s & Kemp’s Wedding

October 27, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I’m going to cheat and write as if I published this yesterday because I didn’t get home til almost one am and I was pooped from the drive.

2019 | Sissy's Birthday Celebration at Sushi 9

I was supposed to meet up with Jakob for lunch but due to timing and having to drive to Montgomery for the wedding our timing didn’t work out as planned. Instead I had lunch with Sissy and the family to celebrate her birthday at Sushi 9.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Montgomery, Texas

After running a couple of errands I headed to my over an hour drive to Montgomery, Texas for Jenny and Kemp’s wedding. The drive wasn’t as bad as I thought and seeing this sight made my heart happy.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Selfie

I was kind of feeling myself since I haven’t put on full eye makeup in a long time.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Decorations

Her decorations were on point and I loved the wooden name touch. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it but I love it.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Saying "I Do"

There was an announcement to not take pictures during the ceremony but I’m a rebel. But don’t worry, they photographer and videographer were standing next to where I was sitting so I wasn’t in their way!

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Emma

I finally got to meet Emma, Wacko & Monica’s daughter. She’s already so grown! She was very shy but still uttered hello to me and gave me high fives and kisses.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Food & Drinks

They catered from Goode Barbeque and had open bar. Everything from the venue to the food and drinks were on point. I’ve found out I like Crown Apple with Cranberry juice as well.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Mellie Dee with Bride & Groom

I was lucky to snag a picture with the lovely couple. Her dress was so freaking gorgeous! Speaking of dresses, my dress had both the bridesmaid and groomsmen colours! How crazy on point was that.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Bride & Groom

These two are so silly, so loving, and so perfect for one another. They’ve both grown a lot as well and I’m so honoured to have witness them tie the knot.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Wacko, Tony, Rachel, Ann with Mellie Dee

It was also great to see familiar faces again too. Well other than Wacko since I work with him and see him practically every day.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Photobooth

But this family always makes me feel very welcomed and always makes me feel like I belong. There were no anxieties walking into the Big Sky Barn alone because I knew with them I felt at home.

Jenny & Kemp Wedding | Big Sky Barn | Montgomery, Texas | Drive Thru

It was a gorgeous wedding. We danced the night away and caught up. There was drunk talk, drunk crying, and drunk love. Don’t worry, that wasn’t me. But I witnessed it all and my heart is full with love for each and every one of them.

The drive home wasn’t horrible since I was still high from all the love and fun we had.

Baby Finn’s Baby Shower

October 19, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Mum, June and I woke up early to pick up Sissy and headed off to Dallas. I slept most of the way to rest my eyes. It was nice not having to drive all day!

Wu Wei Din | Plano, Texas

We left with Brudda, Emmy, and Sammi for lunch at Wu Wei Din. The Xiao long bao aren’t the very best but still one of the bests in Houston other than Wanna Bao.

QQ Teahouse | Plano, Texas

We went next door to QQ Teahouse And it ended up being one of the worst teahouses I’ve been too. That’s all I’m going to say on that.

Baby Finn's Surprise Baby Shower

Sissy and I went and picked up surprise things for baby Ethan. Brudda went to bed and SIL was still at work. SIL’s mum, Jenny, and Le showed up. It was successful!! Sissy made the teddy bear and I made the decorations for the cake. We all are and talked and had a grand time.

Bols | Plano, Texas

We were supposed to go to the State Fair but ended up against it. We went and got Bols for dinner with Jenny and Le. This place is definitely one of the best ramen places we’ve been to.

Fat Straws | Plano, Texas

We stopped by Fat Straws for another Team but mostly for their mochi donuts. We got the blueberry, strawberry, black sesame, and matcha. We’re saving that for tomorrow’s breakfast though.

We’re back at the house watching the rest of the Astros game. All on the edge of our seats!

2019 Cousin’s Trip | Day 4

October 8, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Today was our final day and it wasn’t really a day where we hung out. We woke up, got ready and since Sissy, BIL and I have an earlier flight we left first while the others packed and got ready.

2019 Cousin’s Trip | Day 4 | Hash Kitchen | Phoenix, Arizona

We drove back to Phoenix and chose to eat brunch at Hash Kitchen. BIL ordered avocado toast the size of his face times two! They don’t skimp on bread here. Even the monkey bread was way bigger than we had thought! Everything was delicious and the decor made me happy.

2019 Cousin’s Trip | Day 4 | Phoenix to Houston

We headed off to the airport, found a magnet for Mum and waited by our gate. Sissy and BIL went and got their free upgrade to board earlier and they saved me a seat.

2019 Cousin’s Trip | Day 4 | Phoenix to Houston | Drink Coupon Jack and Coke

I got another free drink ticket and went with a Jack and Coke that was so dang strong. I forced myself to stay awake so that I can sleep tonight by watching a movie downloaded from Netflix. The movie is kind of like a Hallmark movie … unrealistic happy ever after.

2019 Cousin’s Trip | Day 4 | Pho Tan An | Houston, Texas

We told ourselves we wouldn’t eat for the rest of the day but we ended up getting pho and the like from Pho Tan An since it was on the way of dropping me off back home and them picking up their pups. I had the eggrolls and saved everything for the rest of the remaining week as lunch prep.

Our trip is over. We had a discussion last night and everyone was happy with how the trip was. Everyone got to do what they wanted except for a couple of things with good reason. No one fought and everyone compromised. We talked about having our next one in the Pacific coast. Maybe hike where there are waterfalls or maybe even Alaska since no one’s been. Cannot wait to see where we’ll be next.

2019 | Midland Work Trip

October 1, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2019 Midland Work Trip | Houston to Midland

My first work trip to Midland since I started on this team. Since our flight was at 7am Michelle and her husband picked me up for the airport.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Chick-fil-A Breakfast

Since we were there an hour and a half early we grabbed Chick-fil-A. I’ve never had their chicken biscuit before and per usual, not a big fan of biscuits since they crumble so easily. The spicy chicken was perfect though.

2019 Midland Work Trip | View of Well Pads

Soon enough we were able to board along with Kara, Phil, and Christopher. It’s kind of cool to see the well pads especially so close to the airport. But it also makes me sad that so much nature is gone because of it.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Starbucks National Coffee Day

We got our rental and headed to Starbucks for a pick me up. It was also national coffee day so it was perfect. We went a detour way and saw an actual tumbleweed! Later when we were in the airport looking at souvenirs we saw a tumbleweed shirt and I really wanted one. They’re actually kinda cute.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Chick-fil-A Lunch

We started our presentation for the production technicians. I only paid attention and spoke for my small tiny part. Because of that Christopher and I actually got a lot of work done. We had Chick-fil-A for lunch. I had their superfoods salad today and I fell in love. They just need to add some chicken to it and it’ll be perfect. Phil gave me his chips and cookies which now sits in my backpack for a rainy day.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Airport Statues

We went to the airport and saw these statues. When I see the dog, I think he’s holding up a middle finger but I know that’s not the case.

2019 Midland Work Trip | Midland to Houston

We were supposed to get home around 9pm but we were able to get on an earlier flight and got home around 7pm. I had the pleasure of riding in a car the company usually calls for rides. I felt a little fancy.

I actually had fun on my first Midland trip though I hope I get to visit a rig one day soon. That would be pretty cool.

Trader’s Village

September 29, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Green Mimosa and Mani Pedi

Started off the day with a green mimosa and a medi pedi. I went with two different shades of orange to channel my inner Halloween and fall.

Yummy Crawfish & Seafood | Katy, Texas | Mum & June

I met up with Mum and June at Yummy Crawfish & Seafood. My heart is happy. No crawfish but I’ve been moving on to snow crabs lately and their shrimp is always perfect. We took the sauce home to make more shrimps in. Yum!

Trader's Village | Houston, Texas | Ed

I went home and relax because food coma then Ed came and picked me up. Everyone who knows me knows that I hate driving so I love when people come and pick me up.

We headed to Trader’s Village. They have a lot of stalls there but not much of things I’d want to buy. I picked out something for Emmy only because it was new. Other than that we mostly ate and drank fresh juices.

Kung Fu Tea | Katy, Texas | Ed

We stopped by for some Kung Fu Tea since our conversation started to get pretty deep. It’s crazy how long I’ve known him yet we both don’t see each other a lot. That’s what makes this friendship so easy.

It’s going to be a very busy week especially since my vacation is coming up. Flying to the field office Tuesday for work and flying to Arizona on Saturday for the Cousin Trip. Fingers crossed it’ll be a pretty simple week though.
