Happy Lamb Hot Pot | Houston, Texas

December 22, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Bucees Carwash with Beth

Beth needed a buddy for her errands so I volunteered. We met at Bucees to pick up some goodies then decided on going through the carwash. It gave me some anxieties since it moves and you can’t see anything half the time but I got through it. They did a pretty good job and I should have said yes to the free vaccuum. I know for next time!

We stopped by Target, HomeGoods, and Trader Joe’s before calling it a day. We got a lot done and it was only eleven! I felt very accomplished.

Happy Lamb Hot Pot with Salim

I went home to put down the groceries and left to meet up with Salim for lunch at Happy Lamb Hot Pot. It used to be called Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot but they revamped. It’s more modern, like the other hot pot places, where you order the meat but get everything else by yourself. They had a lot of veggies, various seafood, a lot of fish ball variety and noodles. They even had fried chicken wings, egg rolls, etc. ready to eat, as much as you want.

It was Salim’s first time and loved it so much he’s excited to bring his little brother. Since we hadn’t seen each other in a while we caught up about relationships and work for a good three hours before saying goodbye. We made plans to go to a tea tasting next time but I’m not sure when that’ll be.

Ribeye Steak and Corn

I took a nice nap due to the food coma. Then I wrapped presents and made myself a dang juicy steak. Usually after hot pot, I cannot eat for the rest of the day so I only made it through a third of the steak and called it quits. I will say I’m proud of myself. I made this on the cast iron and it came out perfectly medium rare. I want to try the air fryer next time. I heard it comes out well in there, too.

A while week off no work. Okay, who an I kidding. I will be getting on for a couple of hours Monday and Tuesday else, so much freedom with not much planned. Yay!

Girl’s Day

Mellie Dee & JJ by the Christmas Tree

I came over to Mallory’s since Leah is in town for the day. When I walked in, JJ was so happy to see me. He screamed my name and ran over to give me the biggest hug. He’s such a happy camper in the morning so I took the chance to get a picture in with him.

That's My Dog | Katy, Texas

When John and JJ left to go to John’s parents house, Mallory, Leah, Jacob and I went to That’s My Dog for lunch. They have the best sausage link ever and their fried taste amazing even with nothing on it! My order next time is just a regular dog with regular fries. Mmm, we were so tired after.

Color Street with Mallory & Beth

Beth came over and brought over her Color Street kits. I bought a few and we decided to go festive and get kinda the same nails done. I need more practice but I’m happy with how they came out.

Wine with Mallory & Leah

Beth left and that’s when the wine started pouring. We even downed some Ole Smokey Moonshine. The one I had with Scruffy a long time ago was the apple pie but I’d say the butter pecan is better.

Snapchat with Mallory & Jacob

I took some Snapchat filter pictures with Jacob and loved how they came out. He had such big eyes to begin with so it just enhanced it.

Mallory, Leah and I talked a lot and caught up a bunch. Then John and JJ came home and we left. I just noticed how long I was there but it was a great time. Now to relax with Rizzo before falling asleep. Night, world.

2019 Work Christmas Party & Reunion with Jared

December 19, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

One on One with Ricardo

I had a one-on-one with Ricardo, my boss’ boss, yesterday. He is new to the team a few months ago and has set meet and greets with every single person under him. I am surprised about it but it makes working that much more rewarding knowing they care. He even wrote personable holiday cards to each person as well. It’s crazy and new in this company where there were always walls.

2019 Work Christmas Party | Ninja Turtle Sweater

Today was our work Christmas party at Eddie V’s. We had an ugly sweater contest as well as white elephant. Although work did buy me a “Santa’s Favourite Ho” sweater, after wearing if at Patricia’s White Elephant and getting certain comments I decided to wear my Ninja Turtles one for this party instead.

I ended up with wine glasses for the white elephant. They stuck a gift receipt on it so I most likely will return it since I don’t need any more wine glasses. I have enough saved up.

2019 Work Christmas Party | Eddie V's | Houston, Texas

I ordered the filet mignon which came with potatoes and Brussels for the table. You best bet I ate a lot of the Brussels. They came with fresh fruit and creme brulee desserts. Our team brought two Bundt cakes to say goodbye to two team members. I ended up drinking six glasses of Cabernet and Pinot Noir combined. It was a good time.

Chuy's | Katy, Texas | Jared

I went home and took a nap and then met Jared for margaritas. We haven’t seen one another for almost four years if not more. It’s crazy how time flies. We caught up on dating, breakups, work, family, etc. He’s currently looking for a place to purchase and maybe do some gatherings.

Chilling with Rizzo

My holiday has begun. Here’s to cuddles and telly with my love!

New Rockies Reunion Lunch

December 16, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Today was pretty laid back. A lot to do but Mondays are always less stress than others since the big players are too busy to bother me. Because of that, I decided to accept a lunch invite. This is with people I worked with back when I started at this company. Some have retired, others are on their way to retiring, etc. It’s crazy that it’s been over ten years since I first met them and it seems as if nothing has changed.

Tan's Hunan | Houston, Texas | New Rockies Team

Gary was nice enough to drive me and Rose there where we met up with David, Floyd, and Jannie. The rest couldn’t make it but the company we had was nice. We went to Tan’s Hunan, their usual back up place. I ordered soup and wings (appetizers) since I wasn’t so hungry, and was shocked by the amount I got. I packed it all home and had it for dinner as well. Their food isn’t horrible and the soup really hit the spot for me since it was chilly out.

Tan's Hunan | Houston, Texas | New Rockies Team | Fortune Cookie

I declined my fortune cookie but David said I needed it to know my fortune. “Soon, a visitor shall delight you.” I posted this exact picture on my Instagram story with “How soon? Where you at? Show yourself.” And I got the most ridiculously hilarious replies back. But seriously … show yourself.

2019 San Antonio Weekend

December 12, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Al's 40th Anniversary

Today was Al’s 40th Anniversary at work. It’s crazy to think of myself working here for 10 more years let alone 40 total. It was nice to see people from my old team and my old bosses as well.

Bang Birthday Cake Bash

After work I started my drive to San Antonio. I have been saving this Bang Birthday Cake Bash in my car for months and I finally tried it. Way too sweet but it definitely tastes like cake. I couldn’t drink it all and got a stomachache from it. I’ll stick to my unicorn one instead.

2019 Christmas Present from Patricia

Patricia and I traded our gifts part of her gift didn’t make it in time so she’ll just have to get it when I see her next. We have matching rings as well. How cute!!!!

Mia's with Patricia, Ricardo, Linda

Then it was dinner with Patricia, Ricardo, and Linda at Mia’s. I love fiedo and hope to learn to make it in the future. They do have a lot of carbs in it though so maybe alter it a bit.

We dropped off the “kids” and headed to a pool hall meeting up with Ryan and Doug. Pool, maybe some darts before we call it a night.

Bye, world.
