2019 Marble Falls | Day 2

May 18, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Patrica and I didn’t really want to get out of bed but we forced ourselves to shower and get ready for our pretty jam packed day.

Numinous Coffee Roaster | Marble Falls, Texas

We headed to Numinous Coffee Roasters for a morning caffeine fix.

Numinous Coffee Roaster | Marble Falls, Texas | Coffee, Latte, Danish, and Bailey's

She got a normal coffee and a Danish and I opted for a latte. I brought along some Bailey’s to pour into and it was perfect.

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas

We started our twenty minute drive to Opie’s BBQ in Spicewood, Texas.

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas | All the Meats

They had a plethora of meats for you to view and choose from!

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas | Brisket, Jalapeno Sausage, Tater Tots Casserole, Green Beans, Spicy Creamed Corn, Butter Beans, Pinto Beans

We got the fatty brisket, jalapeno sausage, green beans, spicy creamed corn and tater tot casserole. The pinto beans and butter beans were free along with the condiments.

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas | Mellie Dee & Patricia

We had a hard time deciding what to try first! I obviously went with the green beans and she with the brisket.

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas | Jalapeno Sausage Casing

My favourite was the jalapeno sausage. The casing was just right! I love eating the insides ad then the casing last so it was perfect! Everything else was too salty and I feel bloated now.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas

We headed to Spicewood Vineyard afterward.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Patricia Wine Barrel

They have these cute barrel chairs and I made Patricia model in them.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Mellie Dee & Patricia

We decided and shared the Estate Grown Tasting Menu that came with seven different tastings. Also … Why is my eye so funky? Haha

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Grapevines

I wanted to get a good shot with the Grapevines in the back but if you can tell, the rock the glass is on is darker because I spilled a bit of my wine when I tried to balance it. Fail.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Waterfall

I found a cute little stream that did better for my glass balancing.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Pokemon

We relaxed, listening to the stream flow and the wind blow while catching Pokemons and battling at the gym. I won!

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Cows

As we were leaving we saw cows in the middle of the road so I jumped out and took some pictures. I’ve never seen cow poop until today and man are they HUGE!

Main Street Shopping | Marble Falls, Texas

We drove back to Marble Falls and went on Main Street for some shopping.

Main Street Shopping | Marble Falls, Texas | Gelato & Souvenirs

Patricia got a gelato while I did some souvenir shopping. Ghost pepper pickles for Dad, uncured bacon jam for BIL, pumpkin and turtle and owl decoration for Mum, and a little Rizzo for myself.

Main Street Shopping | Marble Falls, Texas | Percussion Instruments

We bumped into a percussion instrument playground! I wonder if anyone ever actually comes and makes music together.

Bear King Brewing Co | Marble Falls, Texas

We made a stop at Bear King Brewery Co since I haven’t been to a brewery in a long time and it was on my list of places to take him at the time.

Bear King Brewing Co | Marble Falls, Texas | Beer Flight

They had some IPAs on the board but I decided on ones I’d love more. The heffenwizen is my favourite over the porter which I was very surprised about. Since I didn’t have a significant other to help share, I had to force myself to down them all even though I was full to the brim!

Hotel by the Lake in Marble Falls, Texas

We headed back to the hotel to relax a bit where I watched an episode of Westworld. Our hotel is near the lake which is nice but we weren’t lucky to have a room with a view.

Rae's Bar & Grill | Marble Falls, Texas

Soon enough we were out the door to Rae’s Bar & Grill to meet up with Patricia’s friend, Nancy.

Rae's Bar & Grill | Marble Falls, Texas | Steak Dinner, Spicy Mac & Cheese

Patricia and I both got steaks and shared a side of Mac and cheese while Nancy ordered a burger. I’ve been craving steak so it was perfect!

We are currently sitting at Rae’s still listening to people sing karaoke. There are actually a lot of people here so I guess it’s the thing to do on a Saturday night here.

Indianola | Houston, Texas

Downtown Views and Lunch

Today at work, I spilled the beans. I spilled them once everything is finalized though! I went out to lunch with Salim, Fahad, Vicky, and Vicky’s friend. We we’re going to go to Flynn Hall but it was packed so to the Conservatory it was. It was a windy walk but it was nice to get away.

2018 | 354/365 | INDIANOLA

[2018] 354/365: Indianola

After work Sissy, BIL, and I went to Indianola to celebrate some exciting stuff. Apparently they recently opened and are owned by the same people as Coltavarie. I will say that this place is way better than Coltavarie. Everything was so dang delicious. My favourite was definitely their lamb. I would go back just for that!

One more day of work until it’s Christmas break!! Or in my world, a long weekend. Haha

Heights Houston with Erin

December 18, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Hickory Hollow | Houston, Texas | Chicken Fried Steak with Erin

I met Erin at her place after work where we caught up for a few hours before heading to Hickory Hollow. John was working so she ended up bringing him food back. The chicken fried steak are the size of our faces and then some. I wouldn’t say this is the best I’ve ever had. Probably The Black Bear Diner beats them with their thick juicy steak where the breading doesn’t fall off.

Waiting for the Train to Pass

As we were walking back to her apartment and me to my car we got stopped. The train literally started right as we were about to cross. We couldn’t believe our luck. Fortunately it was only less than ten minutes long and didn’t stop like it usually does.

[2018] 352/365: Heights Houston

The view from their rooftop parking. It is so gorgeous but with the tracks being so close I wouldn’t want to live here. Loudness and always getting stuck. No bueno. But the view …

I’m hoping to move out in the next year but we’ll see how things go.

Supervisor Intern Lunch at Tejas Grill

2018 | 311/365 | Tejas Grill for Supervisor Intern Lunch

[2018] 311/365: Tejas Grill Supervisor Intern Lunch

Prisila and I took the second set of interns to our supervisor Intern lunch. They are high school freshmen and you can see the shyness so brightly. One of the kids kept playing a game on their phone no matter how many times we said to put it away.

Overall work has been going by very fast and I mostly believe it’s because of these lunches and dinners I’ve been heading.

Tomorrow night I’ll get to see Emmy! Except I’ll be asleep but come Friday after work! I’m ready for her shining face! Eeeek!

Grotto Downtown | Houston, Texas

November 2, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Bang Energy Drink

During breakfast Justin talked about Bang energy drinks which ended us in going to the convenience store downstairs. I will say that the rainbow unicorn was delicious but it is definitely too much for someone that usually only drinks water.

2018 | 306/365 | Grotto Downtown

[2018] 306/365: Grotto Downtown

During lunch Vicki and I went to Grotto downtown. It was a long walk but it was nice to get away from the office. Plus the decor was so adorable!! And the food was good. We even stopped by Phonecia’s on the way back and picked up some cookies for the team.

Eating Horribly

After work Scruffy and I met up to give each other our stuff back. This didn’t include gifts for one another though. And later through texts and phone calls we decided to try out being friends and see how it goes. We talked about what ifs like if one of us had a significant other and they didn’t like our friendship. We decided to cross that bridge when it happens. I also joked if he’d ever be my bridesmaids if I got married.

Mum and June got me a taro smoothie from Kim’s Teahouse and I got delivery from Panda Express. Don’t worry, I didn’t eat it all.

Time for masks and relaxation. Happy Friday, y’all!
