Spider-Man & Hawaiian Food

July 4, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Alamo Drafthouse | Spider-Man: Far from Home with June

I woke up with Emmy laughter and was able to get some playtime before she had to leave to get back with her parents. A few hours later, June and I headed out to watch Spider-Man: Far from Home. This was a super cute movie. I cried from happiness and sadness. It’s crazy how much technology has advanced and will continue to advance!

I never watched Endgame but I knew the ending so what they showed, in the beginning, wasn’t much of a surprise but it’s made me want to go back and watch and re-watch all of them in the correct timeline starting with Captain America which I’m doing right now. Eep!

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue | Katy, Texas

Afterward, June and I went to L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. This has been on my list for years! But no one’s ever wanted to join me until today. They closed their other location and moved here.

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue | Katy, Texas | Grilled Spam, Chicken Katsu, Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, and Portuguese Sausage Musubi
Chicken Katsu Musubi | $2.95; Grilled Spam Musubi | $2.85; Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Musubi | $2.95; Portuguese Sausage Musubi | $2.85

We ordered one of each Musubi they offered. I have wanted to try these since forever. I will say that the meat to rice ratio is off but that’s because rice isn’t really my favourite and because I wish for more sauce in the rice. The two I’d order again is the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken and the Portuguese Sausage. June’s favourite was the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken as well and the Chicken Katsu.

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue | Katy, Texas | BBQ Mix Plate
BBQ Mix Plate [Hawaiian BBQ beef, chicken, and short ribs with rice, macaroni salad, and cabbage] | $12.45

We didn’t know the Musubis would be that big so we had ordered the BBQ Mix Plate as well. We tried a little bit of everything and packed the rest up. We agreed that the Musubis would be the best bet in the future since it’s pretty cheap and filling even with sharing! I guess I need to come back a few more times before deciding my final thoughts.

We went to HMart to walk off the food and headed home to relax. One day of working tomorrow and it’s the weekend! Luckily I get to work at home.

Happy Fourth everyone!

Night of Games

July 3, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Work was pretty long but at the same time, very relaxed. Many meetings but the in between was pretty laid back.

Pepper Twins | Houston, Texas | Erin, Erin's Mum, Christopher

Christopher and I met Erin and her mum at Pepper Twins for an early dinner. We feasted on such delicious Asian food that it reminded me of home. Her mum was so gracious in paying and we had so much left over. This is a new place I can go to when I want somewhat authentic Asian food. Win!

Bowl & Barrel | Houston, Texas | Erin, Christopher, Juhi

I went home and played with Emmy and put her to bed before heading back out meeting up for Erin’s super last hurrah at Bowl & Barrel. We bowled a game and a half before our time was up. I was horrible this time. I chuck it to being so tired.

The Escape Game | Houston, Texas

We went across the street and tried The Escape Game. We chose the next available, Special Ops: Mysterious Market.

The Escape Game | Houston, Texas | Special Ops: Mysterious Market

And we escaped!! This was one of the best escape rooms I’ve been at and if makes me super excited about the one I have coming up with my family next weekend.

We are currently at Yardhouse getting a drink and chomping on some apps so good night world!

Bark Box

July 2, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I accomplished something at work all by myself. Something I’ve been out of practice with for so long. Once that was accomplished I was too happy and didn’t even mind having to stay late for other things.

BarkBox and Rizzo

Doesn’t it look like he’s smiling? He was very interested in his first and probably only Bark Box. I only got it because there was a big discount using a code.

BarkBox and Rizzo 2

I made him sit still so I could get these pictures. It was New York themed hence the Statue of Liberty head and Chinese takeout boxes with three little baos. So freaking adorable.

BarkBox and Rizzo 3

He was most interested in the sausage chew but I’m saving that for sometime this weekend. He and Rocky did enjoy the Bark of the Wild treats. They are wheat, corn, and soy free which is a plus since Rizzo does have a sensitive stomach.

AJI Ramen | Katy, Texas

Sissy came over and we ordered AJI Ramen. Everything was salty and the taste overall was sub-par. Sissy didn’t think it was as bad. It could be because of the delivery factor but I don’t think this would be a place I’d go to again.

We spent time playing with Emmy, rolling around on the floor and such and gave her a bath. It was nice getting time with her and Sissy since those are pretty rare.

Milk Cow with Emmy

Milk Cow | Katy, Texas | Mango and Hazelnut

I worked a little longer than I planned but was happy that there was not a lot of traffic since many were off on vacation. Also because my gas tank light came on. Whoops.

I took Mum and Emmy to Milk Cow for some dessert. I loved hearing her say “ooooooo pretty!” When she saw the cotton candy. And the way she says ice cream makes my heart melt. Pun intended.

Milk Cow | Katy, Texas | Emmy

Don’t worry, she didn’t get her own. She had a little bit of mine and a little bit of Mum’s. Her hands were a sticky mess. I wasn’t a big fan of her holding my hand afterward but I didn’t mind.

A couple of days left with this cutie. I’m trying to get as much Emmy time as I can. It’s been nice coming home to her smiling face. I’m tired but I love getting to play music for her and laugh and play with her.

Gnocchi Is My New Love

June 30, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Emmy and Rizzo Telly

We got home late last night but I had planned to leave around six in the morning. I checked my phone and saw that there were flash flood warnings through out my route until eight so I slept in more. My drive wasn’t too bad since not many people were on the road. I got home and played with Emmy (picture of her and Rizzo watching telly) for a long while until she fell asleep in my bed.

Cauliflower Gnocchi, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Spaghetti Squash and Shrimp

I made some bomb pasta. Truthfully it’s cauliflower gnocchi and sweet potato gnocchi that are frozen and has always been on my list to try. I added in spaghetti squash, shrimp, zucchini, and carrots. Garlic butter and sage sauce to wrap it all up. So simple that it will now be in rotation.

The rest of the time had been busy taking tests and studying. I’m proud of myself for pushing on and finishing two giant sections! Three days until a day off then working Friday. How weird.
