Somi Somi | Katy, Texas

August 15, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Gardetto's Garlic Rye Chips & Smartfood Flamin' Hot White Cheddar Popcorn

Okay, first things first, did y’all know that they make these two different bags of goodies? I have only found them in Ohio/Pennsylvania and shipped these to myself when I was up there. If I can get it in Texas please let me know where because they are so so so so so so good!

JJ and his Wooden Whistle

After working so many hours during vacation and preceding to stay late since I got back, I made an executive decision to leave early today. I went over to Mallory’s and gave JJ his presents from my trip.

One of them was a wooden whistle that sounds like a train. Sadly, Lacy got ahold of it and chewed it to bits. Mallory ordered one online since JJ wasn’t too happy about it.

Chicken and Rice by Mallory

She made dinner and shared some with me. Super simple but super perfect since I wasn’t too hungry. Plus we had plans to go out once John got home.

Somi Somi Soft Serve & Taiyaki | Katy, Texas

We went to a Korean beauty store before stopping by Somi Somi for ice cream and Taiyaki. I ordered ube and milk swirl while Mallory opted for Oreo. I tried the black sesame and fell in love with that one as well but chose ube for the colour. I will definitely be back for the black sesame. Hoping they’d do a ube and black sesame swirl soon.

The Taiyaki was on point. Although for the ice cream it’s hollow on the inside and they only slather the filling in the wall cavities it was a perfect pair. We both got it with custard filling. I’d love to go back and get the ones where the filling is encased inside.

We walked to 85 Degree bakery. I haven’t set foot in one since Scruffy and I broke up. It was kind of tough to see the breads him and his family would have loved. We walked to HMart after that and called it a night.

Tomorrow is Friday! I’m excited it’s the weekend because it only means next week is a four day work week! Weeeeeeeee!

At War With Itself

August 12, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

One of my friends reposted an article on Facebook, “Having Depression And Anxiety Means Having A Brain Constantly At War With Itself”. Click here for the article. It’s a quick read. The title grabbed my attention and it resonated a lot within me. I’ve never been to the doctor on this subject so I’ve never been diagnosed but it’s how I’ve felt my whole life. I have a few people like me in my life. They have loving significant others who are patient with them so it gives me hope that one day I’ll find my other half who’s the same. Or if I never find him, it’ll be okay, too.

Houston Restaurant Week (month) has started already and I’m already behind! But don’t fret! I already have three planned. I doubt I’ll have any more than that and I’m okay with it. After these meals, it’ll be tight spending before the Cousin’s Trip!

Rest in Peace, Krypto

Baby Krypto

I walked through the door from my summer job and you came running up to me. I thought Brudda got you for my birthday but I was only destined to be your aunt. We gave you a bath that night and I took a million pictures of you, my first pup.

Pluto and Krypto

A couple of years later, Brudda and SIL got you a brother, Pluto. You guys played together all the time. There were months where you lived with me and Jenny in college and sometimes Pluto would join you.

Pluto, Krypto and Rocky

Soon enough Mum and Dad got you an uncle, Rocky. You two didn’t always get along. The whole alpha thing got in the way but y’all will always tolerate one another and at rare occasions, play with one another which usually meant barking at one another.

Pluto, Krypto, Rizzo, Kato, and Bruno

Sissy, BIL and I gave you cousins, Kato, Bruno, and Rizzo, to play with. We literally became a dog house. It was loud and crazy at times but we all loved the memories attached to it.

Pluto, Krypto, Rocky, Rizzo, Kato, and Bruno

We will all miss you. Thank you for all the memories you gave us. Thank you for opening the doors for our family to invite more pups in. Have fun in puppy heaven.

2019 Summer Trip | Day 8

August 7, 2019 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

2019 Summer Trip Day 8 | Gohan and Minie

A picture of the pups in my bed last night. They didn’t move a muscle. I had to stick Minie back in her cage though but I know she wanted to stay in bed with me. Gohan stuck to me so close that I had to push him away a few times since he was radiating too much heat.

2019 Summer Trip Day 8 | Detroit Plum Market

I boarded my flight and got breakfast at the Detroit airport. Eggs and potatoes are expensive. I should have stuck with a coffee and called it a day. The eggs are powdered but the potatoes were actually very delicious.

Thanks to Liliana and Daniel for putting up with me for eight days! For waking up so early to drop me off at the airport and for doing all the things I wanted. For entertaining me and also cooking me delicious foods. Love you both and cannot wait to see y’all again soon!

2019 Summer Trip | Day 7

2019 Summer Trip Day 7 | Coventina Day Spa | Waterford, Pennsylvania

I packed all my bags and we headed to Waterford for massages at Coventina Day Spa. Liliana ordered us a couples massage. The doors open up to another room where she was laying. I don’t really understand what the point of it is since you don’t really talk to one another during. I guess it’s just nice to have them there? The hour went by too quickly but overall it was nice. We both still loved our reflexology more so we’ll have to keep that in mind next time we get pampered.

We stopped by two different post offices because one of them didn’t have packing tape. I guess I won’t fault them since that one was in a gas station but how do you do business as a post office without packing tape?!

2019 Summer Trip Day 7 | Lawrence Park Dinor | Erie, Pennsylvania

Lily found Lawrence Park Dinor close by. They are a quiant little place that reminds me of a Waffle House because you can watch them make your food. It’s been around for years that it’s become historic and they try to keep it as classic as possible. Everything we ate was delicious. I was weary at first but I walked out full and happy. I’ve never had Italian Wedding Soup before and I found myself Googling a recipe to make myself in the future.

2019 Summer Trip Day 7 | Panache Salon + Spa | Erie, Pennsylvania

Soon enough it was facials at Panache Salon + Spa. They take you to the women’s locker room which has a few lockers to put your things, a shower, a restroom, a hair dryer, a curler, and a straightener. You change into robes and slippers then walk down the hall to a very relaxing waiting room with lemon water and cucumber water.

We filled in our forms and the ladies came to take us to separate rooms to get our facials done. The lady did my extractions and told me that she was surprised by how great my skin is. That means a lot coming from a lady that does facials! I fell asleep when she was steaming my face with a hot towel and started massaging me.

Lily and I met back up and she followed me into the room for a lash lift and tint. I’ve always wanted to do one and figured, why not. I don’t think I’d ever do it again only because the results weren’t what I was thinking it’d be but it was a good experience.

2019 Summer Trip Day 7 | Panache Salon + Spa | Erie, Pennsylvania | Mellie Dee & Liliana Before & After

Lily and I’s before and after. I told her I don’t understand why we looked better in the before. Maybe the poking and prodding made our face swell up a bit.

2019 Summer Trip Day 7 | Sonic Slushie and Corn Dogs

We headed to Sonic, picked up some slushies and corn dogs and headed to the airport. Once I got there to go print out my ticket it said that I would have a mis-connect. I wasn’t going to make my connecting flight due to their delay on the first leg of the trip from the weather.

We made an impromptu decision to just fly out tomorrow morning instead so I headed home with Lily yet again so that I wouldn’t get stuck at the Detroit airport if I couldn’t make it.

2019 Summer Trip Day 7 | Roadside Farmer's Market | Liliana

When we were driving back, we stopped by a roadside Farmer’s Market. I’s a trust system where you pay for what you get by sticking cash into the little steel box. We found the most gigantic zucchini ever.

2019 Summer Trip Day 7 | Homemade Dinner by Daniel & Liliana
Drink: Honey Melon Water | Appetizer: Homemade Cherry Vinaigrette Summer Salad | Entree: Elotes

Once we got home, I started working, and Lily started making Elotes. Daniel came home after and was nice enough to make us a summer salad even though he is sick.

They’re asleep now and I’m about to head to bed soon too since I’ll have a busy day of traveling and then working from home once I get back. Night world!
