Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas

On February 3rd, Jenny and I went to Austin since I couldn’t go home for Chinese New Year due to the weather. We stayed at Tammy’s place and went to dinner at Austin BBgo. There was no one there when we walked in and only saw one other couple the time we were there. We soon found out why …

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas | Side Dishes

Korean Side Dishes

Korean restaurants usually come and ask if we wanted to refill our side dishes, but this place didn’t do that and we were too shy to ask. That gets an “x” in my book.

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas | Galbi

Galbi | ~$16

The amount they gave me is not worth what I paid. It was good but not as good as back in Houston so to me, not worth it at all.

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas | Bibimbap

Bibimbap

Tammy said her Bibimbap was pretty good.

Austin BBgo | Austin, Texas | Bulgogi

Bulgogi |~$12

Jenny’s was a different story. The meat was tough and it had no taste. Not sure what happened there. We all tried it and all agreed it was the worst thing ever.

Although we were all able to get seconds out of all these dishes, Jenny’s was the worst. When she ate her leftovers, I can hear her sobbing internally.

I’m a big fan of Korean food but I’ll never come here again. It was not worth my money.

Yogurt Zone | San Antonio, Texas

Eric and I weren’t done catching up after 46th St. Pizzeria so we headed next door for dessert Yogurt Zone.

Yogurt Zone | San Antonio, Texas

The price was by weight, so the heavier it is, the more it costs. You can put as much as you want.

Yogurt Zone | San Antonio, Texas | Cake Batter & Strawberry Sensation

Cake Batter & Strawberry Sensation [with Rainbow Mochi, Strawberries, Blueberries, M&Ms, Mini Peanut Butter Cups, and Dark Chocolate Chips]

I believe mine came out to be about two to three dollars. I don’t go crazy for the froyo. I’m more of a topping person. Ever since then I’ve come back here once and I must say, much better than Orange Cup.

46th St. Pizzeria | San Antonio, Texas

On January 28th Eric and I went to 46th Street Pizzeria to catch up.

46th St. Pizzeria| San Antonio, Texas | Spaghetti with Meatballs

Spaghetti with Meatballs [Dinner plate] | $7.25

We both ordered the same thing. The picture doesn’t show just how much we were given since the dish sinks down.

46th St. Pizzeria| San Antonio, Texas | Bread

Bread | free

I dipped my bread into my spaghetti sauce since there is also way more sauce than it looks. The bread was a little on the hard side but I think that’s how it’s supposed to be.

I would go here again since the price is pretty good for college students. They also have cannolis which are on my list of things to try – next time.

Happy Chinese New Year!

February 3, 2011 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I was going to go home and visit my family but the roads might be icy and snow might fall. Since we live in a hot zone, I’m told not to drive on the road. Therefore, I have to stay put where I am all alone. It’s the first year not being home for Chinese New Year.

So if we think about it, I didn’t break my new year resolution? Maybe? Just kidding.

Thai Dee Restaurant | San Antonio, Texas

Thai Dee | San Antonio, Texas

Jenny’s sister, Tammy, came down to visit so we, along with AV, finally got our Thai food fix at Thai Dee Restaurant.

Thai Dee | San Antonio, Texas | Water

Ain’t that fancy? Water in a wine glass …. with a straw. Cute.

Thai Dee | San Antonio, Texas | Crab Rangoons

Crab Rangoons with Special Sauce

Way too much cream cheese but then again I’m not a great fan of cheese but it was decent. I really liked their special sauce.

Thai Dee | San Antonio, Texas | Tom Kha

Tom Kha

I’m not a fan of coconut but I couldn’t taste it in this so I would definitely order this next time.

Thai Dee | San Antonio, Texas | Fried Wontons

Fried Wontons with Special Sauce

There wasn’t much meat and I wasn’t a big fan but the special sauce made it better. I liked their wrapper though.

Thai Dee | San Antonio, Texas | Pad Thai

Pad Thai

AV was the weird one who got fried rice while Jenny, Tammy, and I got the famous Pad Thai. Jenny got hers with tofu (very moist and delicious) while Tammy and I got the chicken which was dry and made for a not so good experience. I managed to finish it by pouring the special sauce all over it.

If I ever want Thai food again, I don’t think I would choose this place. They have dim lighting and the food was not up to par.
