Unexpected Fun

September 18, 2011 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

Jenny and I rarely get the chance to hang out. Yeah we do study together and maybe watch the occasional One Tree Hill episodes together. But going out and doing dinner and just straight chilling? Rarely.

So to my surprise, Jenny was craving steak and wanted to go out for it. Therefore we decided on Logan’s Steakhouse then drinks afterward at Flying Saucer.

IMG_5380

But since we realized it was Happy Hour at Logan’s we each got a beer. I got BudLight and she got MillerLight (I think). Double fisting both our beers for pictures.

Can I just finally say, I think I’m warming up to my red streak. It really shows up on pictures and in a way makes me feel pretty? Is that weird?

IMG_5381

Our table of yumminess. Jenny and I somehow ordered the exact same thing without knowing.

Our free bread. A mug of beer for each of us. And a plate of rib-eye, sautéed mushrooms, and a baked sweet potato with butter and cinnamon. I could have done without the butter.

I finished everything but my steak. Jenny finished her steak and beer only. That’s how great this meal is.

IMG_5384

I ordered these little shot-like desserts to share with Jenny. Brownie with ice cream, some kind of Nutter-Butter dessert, and Strawberry Cheesecake.

It was 3 for $5 so we decided to try them all. Oh did I mention you get to keep the buckets? Sahweet!

Jenny and I’s favorite? The Nutter-Butter! Definitely ordering ONLY that flavor next time.

We weren’t ready to go home yet so we decided to go to the Dollar Theater. Sadly, they weren’t selling anymore tickets since it was already 11pm and were already on their last showings.

Which resulted in Jenny texting her friend and asking her if she was still going out drinking.

IMG_5392

Jenny and I met her friend at Sparky’s Pub. It’s a gay bar so Jenny and I were out of place and felt out of place. Her friend as well. She was there for her friend’s birthday who is a lesbian.

We didn’t know what to do so we took pictures.

IMG_5387

Just fyi, that’s Jenny’s beer.

Afterward, I texted my friend to see what he was up to. We headed over to where he was. A place called Rush. It used to be called Posh but they fixed it up and changed its name. It’s the first time I’ve been there since they changed and I must say, it’s for the better.

I got to see people I rarely see and it just felt like everything was right in the world.

I would put up pictures of my friends other than Jenny but I don’t know how they’ll feel about it. Especially because they don’t know about this blog.

We got home around 3am and watched an episode of One Tree Hill. I woke up at 9am and fell back asleep. By the time I woke up again, I realized I was 10 minutes late for football practice with FSA. Whoops. So I hauled ass and had a great 2ish hours of practice.

It was a great night that I had. It was great to just go out and put off studying. Which was a bad idea seeing how I have a test on Tuesday. Eeep!

Wish me luck as I study my ass off!

Playing Hooky

September 14, 2011 by Mellie Dee 5 Comments

Mmm … OOIAJ is seriously back in my life.

Picture0279

See what’s behind me? Blankets and pillows. All Jenny’s. She’s still sleeping in the living room. I would too but for some reason, my bed keeps calling my name.Embarrassed smile

I have decided to not go to class today. That’s the reason for the glasses and gross hair. It’s just one class so … it shouldn’t matter, right?

I have decided it’ll be my catch up day. Read my chapters because there is just so much!

But right now, I’m watching 40 Most Shocking Breakups on VH1 and catching up on my Google Reader. I didn’t even know half of these people aren’t together anymore. Ridiculous.

I wish there were no divorces, like how it was back in the days. You are set with that person … forever. That’s probably the reason I’m afraid of commitment.

Whoops. Did I just say that to the world?

Chivalry Is Not Dead

September 13, 2011 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Do you hear that? It’s me crying.

This morning I checked Living Social as I do everyday (along with Groupon) and saw the deal for Whole Foods.

whole

I went to pull out my wallet but realized I forgot it back home! So I was like, you know, I can get this later.

Well I was wrong as wrong as can be. When I got home. This stared back at me.

image

I have lost my chance so now I am crying like a baby. Someone share with me?

********************************************

Last night before bed, I made me and Jenny OOIAJ. Well hers was more along the lines of OOIAC since she didn’t have a jar.

She’s never had it before so hopefully she liked what I made her. I would ask her but right now she’s sprawled on the couch taking a nap. If she doesn’t like it, at least I tried, eh?

For some reason, our apartment has been hot so we slept in the living room. Her on the couch and me on the floor. It’s kind of scary when you’re watching Ghost Whisperer. It’s super dark and you see shadows EVERYWHERE!

Sadly, when I did go to sleep on the floor, the carpet itched me terribly so I slept in my room, on my bed instead. I rather sweat then itch all over.

********************************************

Today the shuttles were crowded. So crowded that the bus driver couldn’t stop by the other two stops to pick people up.

There was this guy that was already sitting in his seat, looked up at me and said,

Do you want my seat?

I politely declined. And he made sure I was for sure okay with it.

Who does that nowadays?

No one really. It’s pretty much me, me, me. I want this and I want that.

So he made me see that not everyone are jerks. That there are some nice people around.

That chivalry is not dead.

I’m not saying that if you don’t give up your seat, you’re a jerk. But that there are people out there still that are gentlemen.

I’m old fashion. I like when a guy holds a door for me or say please and thank you. It’s polite. It’s what I learned growing up. But it seems to me, it’s dying.

Don’t worry men. I’m not only saying negatives about your race. It’s the same for women too.

I just wish the world was a better place. That people are polite.

I would love a knight in shining armor, please!

********************************************

Someone made me cry today. Like really cry. Not the kind of crying I did for Whole Foods. She was being rude to me always and I couldn’t take it anymore.

But I got free Pappasito’s from the CPE so I feel better now.

Time to study. I am so behind!

Strut Your Stuff Girlfriend!

September 11, 2011 by Mellie Dee 6 Comments

Today was the day of the show! Ahhhh!

We woke up really tired.

But we didn’t have to really get ready so we went out the door in a jiffy pop!

People were everywhere and everything was just crazy.

We walked straight to the back to the De Lorenzo station.

Tammy started on her make up. She was the lucky one. Jenny and I never got our make up done professionally … so now I can’t cross that off my bucket list. Sad? Yes. Very much so.

IMG_5281

We had more work done on our hair. Mine more than the others.

IMG_5272

Make up free, baby, all day erryday!

They did some highlights? Lowlights? on one side. Having foil in your hair is kind of annoying but so exciting since it was my first time.

IMG_5292

They washed it out, and this is the color that came out.

Luckily they didn’t leave it that way.

IMG_5293

I went through another process of that until they got the desired color and these were the colors. They look dark but the result is very bright.

IMG_5294

They fed us again too!! I picked a Turkey sandwich and added lettuce in it with regular chips and Sierra Mist. I drank a little less than half of that soda. Bubbly really does hurt my throat.

IMG_5310IMG_5335IMG_5339

This is our after picture. With it dyed and cut after being on stage.

Can you see Tammy’s make up? Her hair got lightened and put in some dark blonde highlights.

I got my hair lightened (my hair is very very dark) and they put in fire red and copper red on one side underneath my hair.

We weren’t sure what happened with Jenny’s but she got some chocolate highlights put in and we think they darkened her hair underneath.

Marvin layered all of our hair the way it would work with our hair and our face. He is amazing. Our hair feels so light now. And he kept our length. This man is a genius!

IMG_5340

Us three with our new hair.

You like?

DSCN1113DSCN1118

On the left is me and Molly. The one who recruited us and helped dye our hair and style!

On the right is Matt and I. He helps them out and he brought us our lunch too. And he never got it wrong!

DSCN1107

Oh the outfit I wore were jeans and boots with a “I Red heart De Lorenzo“ t-shirt and a “I Red heart De Lorenzo” sash. Uhh .. yeah I lost an arm. But FUN STUFF!

IMG_5324IMG_5342

On the left is me and Doug. He helped dye and style our hair.

On the right is Tammy, Jenny, Marvin, and me. He was the one who put layers into our hair. He was also the star of the show. He talked on stage and performed his magical-ness of cutting hair in 7 minutes type thing.

DSCN1142DSCN1143DSCN1144

Afterward, we went home and took better close up pictures of our hair. You can see more of the redness of my hair in each picture. But if I show you the bottom bottom … it’s fire red! Eek.

Jenny and I wanted to get feathers in our hair since Friday and since we obviously couldn’t do it Saturday and this morning, we were in the mood to now.

We called the lady and she hooked us up.

DSCN1149IMG_5367

On the left is Jenny. She got an orangey black one on top right and a black and white one on the bottom left.

On the right is me. I got an orangey black one on top and a black and white one on the bottom. I got it all on the same side since they put red on only one side. It would look weird if they were on the opposite.

My hair is burned out! But it was fun. I sent pictures to my brother and sister. I wonder what they’re going to say. Eeek. Scared!

I wonder what my parents will say!

I wonder what people in school will say.

I guess we shall see!

Time to relax.

I hope your weekend was just as eventful!

De Lorenzo Is Calling My Name

September 10, 2011 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

Last night, I ventured out to find a dress to wear to my friends’ engagement party. After, much looking around, I found one. It was from Macy’s for $17.99, I believe.

IMG_5261

Te gusta?

Sadly, it won’t be worn Sunday.

I got a call from De Lorenzo Friday night, to confirm our hair appointment Saturday for their show Sunday and Monday.

Since I have school Monday, I can only do Sunday and well … yeah, it clashes with the engagement party as well as football practice.

Sadly, I already knew about the show earlier than the engagement party so, I have to go with what I committed to first, right?

Once in a lifetime, right? Plus, I can cross off getting my hair did professionally and getting my make up did professionally off my list.

IMG_5173

This is what the show is called.

Today was prep day, not the real show. It was a Tammy, Jenny, and me type bonding moment. We got there at around 10:45am. Matt found us and took us to the Model Check-In.

IMG_5168

I felt like a rockstar. I will never be a model model. Have you seen my body? So, I felt very happy.

IMG_5176IMG_5171

They gave us checkerboard wristbands and made us fill in the consent form. Check and Check.

IMG_5174IMG_5175

Since they were busy with coloring the other girls’ hair, they told us to hang around and be back by a certain time. We walked across the street to the Riverwalk and ate at the Food Court. It is the devil over there. Reminds me why I never eat at Food Courts if I have the choice. So fatty, so bad for you foods.

We headed into Macy’s too since we had time to spare and we wanted to know if we can find anymore amazing dresses like the one up top. I bought this blue tee for $4.99!

IMG_5260

Then it was time to head back, and head back we did. Then we waited for a little while for our turn.

IMG_5177IMG_5179

I was the first to go into the chair. I have “virgin hair” as they call it. So I was hell-a scared.

IMG_5193

Reping that De Lorenzo swag (Why do people say swag? Just now tried it and uh .. it’s awkward.)

That’s Molly in the back. She was the one that found us.Open-mouthed smile

IMG_5222IMG_5232

They did highlights for Tammy (Left) and Jenny (Right).

IMG_5199IMG_5200

They even fed us since we were there for so long. Us three just got a jumbo hot dog each. That would be Matt putting the food together in the picture on the left; on the right is our hot dogs and condiments. Yum!

IMG_5247

They even have those chairs at the salons to wash out your hair and that’s where we all went to get that done. That would be Tammy getting her hair washed and conditioned and what not. The one doing so is Douglas. He is hilarious. His little comments make me laugh. I was sad for him though because one of the girl models ate his food (who didn’t order any) and he got none. That sucks major boo boo!

IMG_5185IMG_5197IMG_5198

Our Before Pictures

               IMG_5224IMG_5255IMG_5254

Our After Pictures

I don’t see any difference with my hair but it could be because they know I was scared that I’ve never dyed my hair before so they went super easy on it. Maybe tomorrow they can make it more bam bam bam!

We’re told they aren’t done yet, so we shall see what else they have in store for us tomorrow before the show!

IMG_5213

This picture does not do this girl justice but her hair was gorgeous! The one that did it for her, his name is Marvin. He is so funny. Always so excited and happy! Love it!

IMG_5268

The goodie bag they gave us for being their models! The bag’s material is amazing. I love it. They gave us shampoo, conditioner, and treatment for colored hair.

Their products are amazing. My hair feels amazing. They don’t test on animals and it’s organic! If I was rich, I would buy everything they have because my gosh … I love it!

See how big this place is? Picture it 500 times this size. That’s how big this show is going to be. AND they have rooms turned into classrooms outside of this room for people to learn more! It’s all so dang interesting!

Now I can cross off getting my hair professionally done off my bucket list!

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us!
