Hell Week Is Over

October 21, 2011 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

… hopefully.

This week alone …

2 Projects turned in.

All 30 pages of me and my partner’s paper was put together at 4am this morning. I was so happy when we handed it into my professor’s hand at 3pm.

Pure bliss.

2 Football games played.

Had one tonight, but we lost by a touchdown. Semi-finals are over. We didn’t make it into the championship round.

Bummed?

Yeah I am. I’m not going to lie. We were so close.

5 FTK Meetings … so far.

And work piles up during those meetings. I have another one today (Friday) from 3-5pm. Hope that goes well and not much work gets handed to me!

1 Finance Lab homework due.

I made a stupid 95 because I couldn’t get one of the answers correct. That’s just straight poop.

4 classes I went to out of 8 classes … so far.

Yep. I’m a terrible student. I had to finish my paper so I had to skip class! But I have a lab tomorrow so I will for sure go to that. That makes it, 5 classes out of 9. That sounds so much better … maybe?

Okay. Time for bed. It’s so early!!Open-mouthed smile

Ropes Course

October 14, 2011 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Today was a different day.

I woke up at 6am. Showered. And went to pick up one of my buddies by 6:50am.

Then we headed to Ye Kendall Inn in Boerne, TX.

It was a 30 minute drive from where we lived.

FTK Overalls and the Leadership Challenge class had a Ropes Course with some high schoolers that had Leadership class at their school there.

Yep. I skipped class. But it was excused!!

It was fun. We went through a lot of obstacles and learned a lot of stuff about one another from 8am –4pm.

One of the obstacles was being harnessed and having to climb a ladder onto a pole and jump to catch the acrobatic thing. I didn’t do this.

Another was having a high wall and having a group of people help each other get over. It was a daunting task. I did this and I almost had a heart attack. Definitely don’t have the upper strength I used to have.

Needless to say, I’m super red and dark from the stupid sun and am sore everywhere. But I don’t mind. I learned a lot!

That we can have fun and get to know each other and make friends and STILL work together and finish our tasks!

There was once when someone asked the group who brings the fun and some of the high schoolers pointed at me.

See. I’m cool!

I Make My Own Rules!

October 13, 2011 by Mellie Dee 1 Comment

My, oh, my.

You know that rule where bloggers should post regularly. Either once a week on the same day (like a Wednesday) or three times a day around the same time?

Sorry. I don’t follow that rule. Sometimes my workload prevents me from writing posts and other times I have no workload I can write a bajillion post everyday in a week. That’s how it works.

Do know I still read blogs and comment everyday!

Luckily, I have content to give you so I actually have something to write. Whoo!!

This is the first time I won a Blogger Award.Embarrassed smile

I haven’t really had time to put myself out there in the blogging world so I’m very thankful I was nominated!

The Versatile Blogger Award

Thank you so much Rachael from Happy Healthy Runner! She’s my number one reader. I’m sure of it. She has helped me so much in this world. Thank you. Thank you.

Since it’s my first time, I have to follow the rules.

So this is what I have to do:

1.  Thank the person who gave you the award and provide a link to their post. You are amazing. I think I would of lost interest if it wasn’t for your support!
2.  Share seven things about yourself.
3.  Award this award to 15 recently discovered blogs

Seven Things About Me….

  1. I’m not a fan of sweet things (chocolate, candy, ice cream, desserts, etc.) but I love to bake for people. I do crave sweets sometimes … but that is rarely.
  2. When I started this blog it was just a place to write about food and working out. But once I started to reach out to other bloggers six months later, I’ve grown to love this community. I’ve actually gotten happier after a long while of being in a black hole. So thank you everyone!Winking smile
  3. I love ketchup. Ketchup, ketchup, ketchup. I got ketchup from a friend for my birthday before because he thought it was funny. I thought it was genius since I ran out a few days prior.
  4. I love music. I love to play it, sing it, listen to it. I wish I could have a little band and just jam out. I’m not great at all though.
  5. I graduated high school with 1000+ other classmates. Yes. We had a REALLY long ceremony. I liked it though. I met a lot of new people. I love meeting people!
  6. I watch Chinese Soap Operas online while doing stuff on the computer (like now). I have to multi-task and Chinese is easier for me to understand while doing so.
  7. I am very competitive in sports. I have a mean face on while playing and 10 minutes or so after. I love sports.

I Fail Everything

October 10, 2011 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

So … I haven’t been doing 30 Day Shred. I did like four days and stopped. I have failed.

But on a happier note, I’ve noticed I’m quicker when playing flag football. Running every other day this past summer definitely helped. I just wished I was still able to run. Time and it being unsafe (my mum’s words) has made running hard.

These are excuses, I know. But I am still active so that’s better than nothing.

Capture

Please tell me why someone searched for “bent over and rammed” and ended up on my site? I promise this is not a porn site. There is no nakedness here.

Would You Rather Be A Mermaid Or A Whale?

October 7, 2011 by Mellie Dee 9 Comments

This has been circling Facebook and I’m not sure if everyone’s seen it. I think it’s a pretty great read.

A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was “This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?”

The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:

“Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.
They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.
They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on cds. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires.

Mermaids do not exist.

But if they existed, they would line up to see a psychologist because of a problem of split personality: woman or fish?
They would have no sex life and could not bear children.
Yes, they would be lovely, but lonely and sad.
And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side?

Without a doubt, I’d rather be a whale.

At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends.

We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn’t enough space in our heads, and it spreads all over our bodies.
We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated.
Every time I see my curves in the mirror, I tell myself: “How amazing am I ?! ”
