2012 Penn State Trip | Day 1

February 16, 2012 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

So yes. I did not sleep at all. And I still have not slept. Whoo!

It started out with a 3:30am drive to the airport with Patricia, Shayna, Shayna’s Mum, and Flor.

Shayna and her mum left and Jakob arrived right when we were walking in! So these are the earliest risers that got there first! We win …

Shayna made little baggies of breakfast for all of us. It consisted of a blueberry muffin, a Capri sun, little pieces of candy, and a bag of pretzels.

Us all enjoying our breakfast. We sent this blurry picture to Shayna to let her know we love her and wished she was with us.

Us in our seats. We got to pick anywhere we wanted to sit. There was a lot of open seats so a lot of us had our own row … like Tim J. here who sat in front of me. Jakob sat in my row and we had an open seat in between us.

Before we took off, the view. And after we took off, the view. So pretty!

It was a 3 hour plane ride to Baltimore.

I was so hyper before we took off. But once we were up in the air, the hyperness died off. I tried hard to fall asleep but failed so I pretty much just shut my eyes and listened to music Trisha gave me the night before.

Little snacks we got on the plane. I only ate the Wheat Thins and still have the Ritz. I got water and Tim J. threw the Plane Cookies at me which I still had until later that night.

The view from the sky as we were about to land! It’s so pretty!

Hello Baltimore!

IMG_5499

We grabbed food quickly from the food court at the airport. A bunch of us bought food from Quizno’s. I got a veggie sub. Yums!

Then we got on our charter bus to have a 3 hour drive to Pennsylvania.

It was a pretty fun bus ride. I really wished I got some sleep but we had fun reading a Cosmo magazine Patricia bought. Ryan was going crazy over it! And Tim J. somehow felt the need to talk to me and share with me things that happened in the past and his failed Valentine’s Day. I feel sorry for him.

Next thing I know … SNOW!! Life is amazing.

I am in love with this weather. It’s cold but not cold enough where I want to kill myself. I wish I could move up to a cold place when I get older.

2012-02-16 14.23.39

We arrive at The Atherton Hotel and this is the lobby. Hello. You’re gorgeous!

IMG_5510IMG_5511

And the rooms aren’t shabby either. It’s just the three of us (Liliana, Marisol, and me). So big! So much room! I get to have a bed ALL to myself! hehe

A group  of us walked around the streets before getting dinner. Everyone else went their separate ways. (Courtney, Andy, Patricia, Tim J., Liliana, Marisol, and me!)

2012-02-16 16.05.16

I found a Wilson Volleyball!! It’s so cute … I want it!

Everyone was starting to get hungry so we went to:

Green Bowl

State College, Pennsylvania 16801

2012-02-16 16.21.58

All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet for $11.95. We all jumped on it. You pick what you want and they cook it! It looks dead but there were people here!

2012-02-16 16.57.39

I ate ALL of that. And another plate. I can make this at home but it was nice having more ingredients than usual. Winking smile

Andy, Liliana, and I at the restaurant. We only found this place because the Penn State students suggested it.

I would probably not waste $11.95 on this kind of food since I can make it myself, but it was good enough to satisfy all of us and our hungry tummies.

Afterward, we all walked back to the hotel and we chilled in my room. Ryan and Dilip walked in to let us know they were going to have a drink in the hotel bar downstairs. The 21+ club followed suit. Aka: Patricia, Marisol, Tim J. and I.

2012-02-16 18.31.44

I got a Shock Top that was on Tap. Yum!

Then Bob and Cindy came in with Emily and they had a drink. Along with Murtuza, Lance, Jakob, and Tim S. Eli walked in to hang out with us a little.

A few of us played pool and then some of us went back to our rooms to relax.

It’s been a busy, fun filled day. It’s only 10pm here where back home, it’s 9pm. This time change is confusing me and I am starting to get tired from not sleeping!

I cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings!

I hope you all have an amazing Friday!

Butterflies In My Tummy

February 16, 2012 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

I said I would tell you why my weekend began on Monday night.

I will be heading to Penn State soon! There is an organization there called THON which is where FTK derived from.

Their Dance Marathon is this weekend and I’m excited to experience it with some amazing people.

I hope I get to see real live snow!!

2012-02-15 16.33.31

Katrina went with me to Wal-Mart to buy last minute things for THON and she decided to pick up some cupcakes.

When I asked her which princess I would be, she said something funny … but rude.

2012-02-15 17.24.13

Gary came over and they hung out with me while I packed.

Picture of Gary wanting to go to THON with me.

I wish everyone I love in FTK was going with me. It would so much better. But I’ll make do with the people I have. Winking smile

Then we, along with Andrew C. and Lisel, went to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. Had a good time with them and sad I won’t get to see them for the next five days! Sad smile

Trisha came over and gave me 100 songs to listen to while on my trip. I’m excited! I love new music!!

Then Travis helped me with my luggage and drove me to Shayna’s and Patricia’s so that I wouldn’t have to leave it here over the weekend. We have decided not to sleep … but they have dozed off next to me. Shayna and her mum are driving us to the airport at 3:30am.

Eepp! We’re almost there! My eyes are getting heavy!

Hallmark Holiday

February 15, 2012 by Mellie Dee 3 Comments

I guess you could say my weekend started Monday after 7:30pm when we found out the other team wasn’t going to show up for our FTK Co-Ed Soccer game. I’ll tell you more about why my weekend has started this early at a later post. Winking smile

2012-02-14 11.25.59

Today has been a pretty eventful day. I woke up with a text from Jenny saying to grab a donut on the way out. I’m not a fan of donuts but I like sprinkles. Smile I ate the one in the middle on the right because it was a better looking heart than the other two.

2012-02-14 13.30.00

I went to school and a friend and I did a storyboard for a video we’re wanting to shoot that has to do with skydiving. It’s pretty simple. Not too in depth. Most of it is just in our heads. Then I went to class to where I didn’t have to be at since I rescheduled my test.

Went to the bank to get moolah then headed home and relaxed with Jenny and Deana. Travis came over and he ate the chocolate heart shaped donut and we all read horoscopes, watched YouTube videos, and hung out.

Took a one hour nap. Then headed over to Shayna’s and Patricia’s. It was Girl’s Night. To be exact … Single Girl’s Night.  I think one of them has a boyfriend though.

Before anyone else came over, Shayna, Patricia, and I talked about guys. Bahaha Typical, right? What is girl’s night without some talk about guys …

2012-02-14 21.12.25

Flor and Patricia’s friend, Jocelyn, came over. We ate Alfredo Pasta with broccoli, carrots, cucumber, and tomatoes. With half a yam. I love yams. Yams, yams, yams. Open-mouthed smile

2012-02-14 21.19.42

And we drank wine. I’m not a wine lover but this was actually pretty good. Patricia drank pretty much the whole bottle.

We also had another bottle of wine but I didn’t like it.

2012-02-14 21.58.28

Then we all had some chocolate covered strawberries and watched Our Family Wedding. I asked for a sad movie where either people die at the end or a relationship doesn’t work out. But they picked a cutesy funny one that made me wish I had a boyfriend. BOOO …

Anyway, I hope your Valentine’s Day was as great as mine … surrounded by people I love. Open-mouthed smile

Empathetic

February 14, 2012 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I was having a conversation on Facebook Chat with Brother Bear while Jenny and I were chilling on my bed on our laptops talking and laughing about things.

It resulted to me asking him a question because I needed a guy’s opinion on something. He answers “Hold up, I’m thinking”, to him knocking on my apartment door. We had a 20 minute or so hang out with Jenny and Deana. Then they headed for bed and he and I had almost a 2 hour conversation.

Love talking to him because he lifts me up whenever I’m feeling down or uncertain about something. He always tells me to never give up and to think about “What if?”

So it breaks my heart when I hear when he’s down or uncertain about stuff. I guess you can say I can feel his heart breaking like it was my own. I’m one of those empathetic people. It always hurts when I cannot help ease their pain.

He deserves so much but never gets anything in return. I know whatever happens though, he’ll be okay and he’s strong enough to get overcome anything.

He knows my blog now so … if you’re reading this Travis … you’re the best Brother Bear ever! And everything will be okay. And I hope you’re not mad I’m writing about this in here.

On happier news, I finished my song. Open-mouthed smile  Lalala … and I feel great about it.

Injuries Suck

February 13, 2012 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I’m in the worst pain I’ve been in a long time. Shin splints came back. Along with my old knee injury.  I brush it off like I’m fine but when I was coming home, walking up the stairs, I almost fell down. Mmm … fun stuff.

Tomorrow’s the basketball game and last one for the week. No athletic stuff until next Tuesday. Thank goodness.

I emailed my teacher today and asked him if I could take my test next Tuesday instead of tomorrow. He said yes. Score! Smile

Now it’s time to finish my homework and relax.

But before I do that, here’s a story of Dying Texas man gets wish, holds newborn daughter.

Hope your Monday is going well.
