I’m Slow But I’ll Finish

I just registered for my first 5k. Two to be exact. One is around Thanksgiving time (see how bad I am). The other is around New Year’s Eve (see how much I’ve improved).

Both expensive for my taste but both virtual. After doing last year’s 5k at school (walking it due to fracture) I figure it’s time to run one. It’s not at a location with a big group of people which is good for a beginner but this will push me to work hard at this and hopefully do a real race with real people running around me next year. I’m excited.

Plus it’s for a good cause. All proceeds go to a camp that serves terminally ill children.

And since I signed up, I’m up and running again today. Eek, it wasn’t a good 1.5 miles. But I will push through! I did some strength training after as well. This is only the beginning.

Coworker bought the Stella & Dot catalogue to work so I browsed through it. I want everything in it please. I wish I didn’t have big boobs sometimes because some necklaces do not work with them. TMI? Sorry I’m not sorry. And I wish I had ear holes. I guess I’d have to settle for the rings and bracelets whenever I have some money I can spend on things I don’t need.

My guitar string broke a while back and I’m still crying about it. I’m not great a restringing the guitar. Violin? Easy. Guitar? Not so much. It’s popped many times when I tried so I gave up. I think I’ll give it a try again. Wish me luck! Because I miss playing my songs!

Have a great upcoming Tuesday! 🙂

A Whole Lotta Fun

A coworker was leaving to do bigger and better things so BossMan took us out for lunch at:

Pradaria
10694 Westheimer Road
Houston, TX 77042
(281) 501-2960
www.pradaria.com

Cheese Bread – too doughy for my taste. Pass …

Salad Bar – a lot of various choices. My favorite is the cow tongue (gross I know … but so good!) and the mashed potatoes since I’ve been craving it!

All You Can Eat Meat – so many choices! I only had a good I don’t know … 10 or so pieces of different meat. That’s SO much. They didn’t come over a lot though. Maybe because we had a lot of people and was scared we were gonna eat all their food.

Thanks Bossman!

Halloween! Also my sissy’s birthday. Yep she’s a halloweenie! (teehee) I was dressed up as a ballerina. Simple and easy because I was tired from a long day of work. She had a little get together costume party and we had wine and cheese, and snacks, and sweets. YuM!

20121031_210855

There’s no pictures since they are her friends and if she doesn’t want to be on the blog, I doubt her friends would either. Don’t know how they’ll feel about that so here’s a picture of Bruno is his bed while we partied.

Friday

The girls: Mallory, Samantha, Leah M. and I had a girl’s night.

Don Julio’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina
25250 Northwest Freeway
Cypress, TX 77429
(281) 758-4000
www.donjulios.com

Chips & Dip – free and so good … the green one at least which makes me believe is creamy avocado dip. YUM!

We all got Margaritas on ice (Sam got it frozen). I use to think I hate margaritas but I’m beginning to think I don’t like them frozen. In ice is totally different. Guess because it dilutes the alcohol a bit?

La Paz – the enchilada and taco was so good and moist. The pork tamale … not so much. It was SUPER dry. Don’t ever get that if you ever go here.

20121102_212240

We moved our booties to a bar. We were early so there wasn’t much people but there was a band playing and I loved their choice of music.

IMG_20121103_002636

But we drove down to Midnight Rodeo and danced our hearts away. It was a lot of fun critiquing people dancing. Some people … they’re there for our entertainment. Sorry for being mean but I’m not sorry. You had to be there.

Went over to Mallory’s and we watched Magic Mike with Samantha … too much skin. I’m not use to it. But I guess it’s a given with it being a stripper movie and all.

Channing Tatum is a hottie but my eyes were all for Alex Pettyfer in this one. Mmm … man with scruff.

This week is over already. But I’m excited for what’s to come! Ice Hockey this Thursday. Crossing things off my list! And day off this Friday! Whoop! Happy upcoming week! I promise to do better with this whole blogging during the week thing.

Busy Fun Week + Halloweekend!

October 28, 2012 by Mellie Dee 5 Comments

Craptastic. I wrote this whole thing ready to publish
and then Live Writer goes haywire on me!

I’ll try to make this go like it was suppose to.
This was suppose to be like last week’s post since y’all liked it so much
but this would probably mean once a week post …
I don’t know how I feel about that yet.

Monday:

IMG_20121026_093039

Taylor Swift’s album RED dropped.
Better believe it’s been played five billion times already.

Tuesday:

IMG_20121023_214731

Pumpkins were carved!
Lauren F. and I went over to Mallory’s and I carved my very first pumpkin.
Check off my Bucket List! It was oooey gooey and I loved it.
Guess which one is mine! Sadly ours got super moldy in like two days. 🙁

Wednesday:

Michelle’s going away dinner at Chuy’s with Stephanie.
Michelle is the new Lufkin reporter!
Cannot wait to see her new place!
She’s going to make it big one day!
The only picture of us three from that night … sorry.

Thursday:

IMG_20121025_215206

Alyssa’s friend, Erin K.,
posted about Painting with a Twist
for a Cause … Relay for Life.
Hello, I’m all down for that. I threw in the big bucks and went!

IMG_20121025_215048

I had a lot of fun.
Freaked out a lot thinking this is gonna be one ugly painting
but it came out pretty okay.

134754_480240088664062_852625072_o

The people in the class were hilarious and fun to be around.
They were acting like little kids and Erin and I were the youngest ones there!
I’m already wanting to go back …

IMG_20121025_221249

I baked for the coworkers that night regardless of how late it was.
We’ve been having a sluggish week at work.

Friday:

IMG_20121026_235847

After work nothing happened at all.
I’m pretty sure I slept for a good 20 hours. Jk.
I slept for 3 hours and painted this thing in less than however long Despicable Me is.
It’ll get better with more practice … hopefully.

Saturday:

Sally Hansen stick on nail things.
Sent on accident but got to keep!
Worked well with my costume: Skulls with pink glittery background.
Note to self and everyone else … put on a top coat.

IMG_20121027_190624

Mallory’s birthday … plus Halloweekend!
Baked her a cake then headed to her place
where I met all her friends from college
who were watching the aTm game.
I drank out of an aTm cup to fit in …

230574_1008700748313_7581_nIMG_20121028_110543

I hadn’t celebrated her birthday with her since were where both seniors in high school.
Us then (graduation rehearsal).
Us now (last night).
We definitely look nothing like we use to …

And now just pictures from the night.

IMG_20121028_011023

Mallory, me, & Sarah

No matter what went down this has got to be one of my favorite Halloweekends ever.
I had a lot of fun.
One of the best Houston downtown nightlife experience as well.
Thanks Mal!

After such a fulfilling week
it’s gonna be a little sad going to my regularly scheduled days.
Hopefully I can still have some fun.

Have a great week ahead!

RED

October 24, 2012 by Mellie Dee 4 Comments

I thought I didn’t have a life … til this week happened. I was so ready to workout and blog everyday. You know … little changes.

But this week happened and though the workouts are still occurring, the blogging … not so much.

But I will make up for it. Promises. I’ve been crossing (or trying to cross) things off my bucket list! With help from some lovelies of course.

I was surprised I had friends … my mum as well. Seeing how I’ve gone out pretty much every “school night” this week.

P.S. If you haven’t heard Taylor Swift’s Red album yet, you’re missing out. Make sure to get the Target one … extra tracks. Sadly they’re on a different disc. Makes me mad cuz now I can’t listen to all the greatness in one sitting without moving.

P.P.S. Her “I Almost Do” is like my “I Want To” I wrote awhile back … great minds think alike I guess.

Next Door Bar & Lounge

October 21, 2012 by Mellie Dee 8 Comments

My life is pretty boring. I would wish to be a stay at home blogger or some other job that is at home so I can enjoy life. But then the weekend comes and not much happens and I get bored out of my mind so … maybe at home job isn’t right for me either. Hmm … ever wonder what you’re doing with your life? Like you were going with the flow and now you feel … stuck? I feel like that sometimes because now I don’t know if it’s my life I’ve been wanting to live … or if it’s just living and we just have to deal.

Last week I went to Happy Hour with Mallory and her friend Samantha. Sam is such a friendly girl. I liked her from the get-go. Hopefully we’ll become great friends as time goes on!

Berry Mimosa Frozen Carafe | $18

Mmm … all my friends know I’m a beer lover. Anything else is not up to par but this was actually very good. Tasted like juice meaning you can’t taste the alcohol. That carafe was enough for three glasses tall!

Hot Spinach Artichoke Dip [served with homemade tortilla chips] | $3

I wasn’t very happy with this at all. There was way too much cheese and not enough spinach or artichokes. Sad day. Don’t order it …

Harvest Flatbread [a vegetarian pizza with grilled eggplant, toasted red bell peppers, broccoli florets, feta cheese, and basil pesto marinara sauce] | $6

SO GOOD! Loved every bite. Can’t go wrong with anything basil pesto. Go here and order pronto!

Rustica Flatbread [jalapeno sausage, roasted red bell peppers, mushrooms, mozzarella, and marinara sauce] | $6

This was too spicy but it was still good nonetheless. I’m never a big fan of flatbreads aka pizzas but these were up to par.

Homemade Chips n’ Dip [served with jalapeno feta dressing] | $3

I was a little skeptical of the name of this dish … but it came out very well. The chips were paper thin and super crispy. In a way, melt in your mouth. They weren’t a fan of the jalapeno feta dressing but I loved the spicy tang. If I go here again, this is a MUST order.

I’m obviously not a food critic but this has seriously been one of my favorite happy hour places ever! With great company of course. 😉
