2020 | Week 3 of Quarantine

April 5, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2020 | Week 3 of Quarantine | Work from Home Rizzo

Work was horrible in the beginning of the week but it was nice getting Friday off even though everyone knows I have issues signing off. Turning around working on my secondary work laptop and seeing this face makes my heart so happy.

2020 | Week 3 of Quarantine | Rizzo and Ukulele

I took the plunge and finally got myself a ukulele, mostly because Brudda wants me to teach Emmy. It’s super easy since I already know guitar. Only thing I need to work on is getting my huge fingers to fit on the fret well enough. This came with a case, capo, electric tuner, extra strings, picks, strap and a little guide book – amazing! I also like that it’s not the usual hole in the middle so it gives it a little flair. I’m getting concert requests from friends like the college days with the guitar so we’ll see how comfortable I am.

2020 | Week 3 of Quarantine | Egg, Beet and Veggie Bake

I had time to cook lunch Friday and opted to use up some old vegetables lying around, zucchini, Brussels, and carrots. I added in beets and eggs all baked to perfection. This is definitely my easiest bake meal.

2020 | Week 3 of Quarantine | Orleans Seafood Kitchen | Katy, Texas | Door Dash

We decided to get crawfish for dinner. Mostly for me since everyone else had their own food. This is from Orleans Seafood House. They don’t have the usual flavour I love, just Cajun, but was still super flavourful, spicy, and cooked perfectly. The lemon garlic butter was perfect for the potatoes. Definitely putting that in my boils in the future!

2020 | Week 3 of Quarantine | Rizzo Freshly Cut and Clean

Many people complained of Rizzo’s crazy hair so I went and trimmed him up and gave him a wash. Fresh and clean! He was so good and even let me do the bottom of his paws too.

2020 | Week 3 of Quarantine | Diamond Painting

Other than phone calls and video chats to keep busy, I jumped on the bandwagon with Diamond Painting. More like diamond placing. It’s actually very relaxing and I’m already more than halfway done and have another one waiting for me. I might share the end product once I finish.

2020 | Week 3 of Quarantine | Rizzo Watching Me Diamond Painting

This was Rizzo’s stages of watching me do this project. He’s so cute.

2020 | Week 3 of Quarantine | Tandoori Grill | Katy, Texas | UberEats

June and I have been obsessed with Tandoori Grill and ordered it AGAIN. We convinced Mum she had to try it so the outcome looks as if we ordered the whole store. They are awesome and added a ton of papadum when I asked for it – all for free! Love this restaurant and the fact that they’re not stingy with the servings too!

We’ve been told that quarantine life will last till May or even up to July. So far, the introverted me is okay with this life. Especially if Amazon stays open and we have enough alcohol to spray everything down, I’ll always be able to get my groceries and fun project stuff to fill the time.

I hope the rest of y’all are doing well.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine

March 29, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Work from Home

Working from home isn’t so bad sometimes. This is my set up. Since then I put up a tiny desk on the right for my other laptop so it’s not so crowded. I like online townhalls where I can crochet while listening. I like being able to freely watch shows while working hard on something. Bust most of all, no travels and no needing to look presentable.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Late Night Work From Home Boiled Egg

The only downside is working even more than usual and at very late hours. This was taken around right before midnight on Thursday trying to ensure our scripts go through correctly. Rocky dropped off a hard boiled egg for me courtesy of Mum since I hadn’t eaten.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Tuna and Seaweed

Speaking of food, my go-to no-cook meal is canned tuna mixed with mayo, relish and caynne pepper. I then wrap that all up with seaweed. Sounds weird but it’s so good.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Drinks for the Sick

Many already know I’ve been coughing a log since last Sunday. Not sure why but have been chugging a lot of teas with random things mixed in or lemon water with different things mixed in. It doesn’t seem to be working but we are doubting it’s Coronavirus.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Crocheting & Guitar

Not leaving the house has not been so hard. I get to enjoy all the things I love like crocheting and playing guitar. My audience loves listening to the free concerts I give out. It also helps having calls, video chats and continuous texts with family, friends and coworkers.

2020 | Week 2 Quarantine | Rizzo Dog Treats

Being home made me see how bored the pups are. Rizzo sleeps all day and only moves when I do. I’m sure he moves more when I’m not around but I figured I’d get him some things to do. I got him a big-for-him slice of antler to chew on when he’s bored and once in a while I’ll treat him to a bully stick or tendon stick. He loves them all. Don’t worry, Rocky gets them as well.

I hope you are having a great quarantine time as well!

Homemade Honey & Lemon Face Masks

March 22, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

On our last trip to Dallas, June and I went to Diasio and found individually wrapped compressed face masks and towels. I figure I’d test them out and if they’re good, they’d be perfect for traveling!

2020 | Coronavirus Quarantine | Honey Lemon Face Mask | Mellie Dee & Rizzo

I finally tested out the compressed face mask today. That tiny disk ended up soaking all the honey, lemon and water solution I made while I took a quick shower and washed my face. 10 minutes of watching Suits as my face soaked up the goodness. I washed my face, put on my usual nighttime face routine and tried to take a picture with Rizzo. #nofilter He was more interested in licking my face hence me sticking my tongue out because apparently many dogs don’t like that. I’m certain I didn’t get all the honey off … Whoops.

Anyway, my skin is now baby butt smooth and I’m excited about this new life. So much cheaper than buying all the masks and using things I have around the house is a plus! Quarantine life isn’t TOO bad.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine … Kinda

March 20, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Co-pups

Meet my coworkers of the week. One watches my every move while the other sleeps on the job.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Foods

Since I’ve been working from home, I’ve eaten less as well. I don’t feel hungry like I usually do so sometimes my two meals a day become one. No complaints since I’m sure it has to do with not moving as much.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Rocky Thunder & Lightning

Today’s thunder got my sleepy coworker all up in my business. He doesn’t understand boundaries at all.

It was my day off but had to get some things done. This means working less next Friday, right?

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Mallory's, JJ, Banana But Muffins, Frozen 2

Mallory and I made an executive decision for me to go over. It’s been a VERY long time since I’ve seen her. I came in right as they were putting banana nut muffins in the oven. They were delicious!

Beth came over as well for me to give her her belated birthday present. We sat and watched five minutes into Frozen 2 before JJ wanted to watch something else. We had the bubbliest wine ever made and chilled for a bit before I went back home.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Tiff's Treats

June and I have been craving sweets and when I saw that Tiff’s Treats was having only a $5 delivery, I jumped the gun and got some.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Tandoori Grill | Katy, Texas

June decided to get the both of us Tandoori Grill. Mum didn’t want any. We ate a few bites and put the rest away for tomorrow. I’m so excited for papadum and channa masala. Easily my favourite go to now. Don’t worry, I still like my usuals though.

2020 | Week 1 of Quarantine Rizzo & Mellie Dee

I spent some cuddle time with Rizzo. He’s the worst when it comes to taking pictures. But he’s the best movie and television marathon partner ever. I’ve been trying to get out in the sun more and so I’ve taken him on super short walks a couple of times this week. He’s going to get horrible separation anxiety, more than he already has after this quarantine.

Meeting Maggie

March 15, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Ashy and I haven’t seen one another since the day Scruffy and I broke up. We’ve had a handful of pleasantries by texts throughout the year+ and finally made plans for him to stop by since he wanted to give Mum some succulents.

Ashy, Maggie, Rizzo, Mellie Dee

I had the lovely pleasure of finally meeting Maggie the Beagle. She is a little bigger than Rizzo and they got along pretty well. No growls, all love from Rizzo which is a first and with his tail wagging non-stop. I guess he missed Ashy.

We both held each other’s dogs for the hour or so conversation we had catching up about each other’s lives. It was nice to see how happy he is which was all I ever wanted for him.

Ashy and his Plants

When we finished our conversation, he started taking out all the plants and succulents he brought Mum. She was in love with it all. My favourite was the red cactus.

These plants brought back up our usual talk of opening up our own wedding business, 50/50, which he was still down for. Wishing it was true but also afraid to since he said I’d have to bring the business and, let’s be real, I have no friends or connections.

Maggie and Rizzo

Rizzo loved sniffing Maggie’s butt and followed her around our backyard while Ashy and Mum walked around her garden. When I look at Maggie, all I see is Daisy, but with much fresher breath.

We bid our farewells and I continued watching Bitten, a show I started last night and am already on season 3 because I’m crazy like that. I also got to video chat with Emmy and her favourite word right now is booty in Chinese. She said “Goodbye, booty!” in Chinese as she ended our conversation. How lovely.

Salmon and Veggies

I made a lovely baked salmon dinner with ALL the veggies roasted nicely tonight. And I mean all, broccoli, asparagus, zuchinnis, carrots and cherry tomatoes. If you know me, this is my favourite go to dinner to make and eat and have never gotten tired of it. And with the quarantine coming, I’m going to need to search for more salmon!
