Meet Rizzo

On Friday (November 29th), a turn of events led us to CAP (Citizens for Animal Protection). A 3.4 pound, tan, male terrier-mixed puppy (8 weeks old) was staring at us quivering. All four of his paws are white which makes it look as if he’s wearing socks!

Next thing I know, I’m signing adoption papers. I’ve been looking for my little baby for years but always refrained. I’m not sure what made me take the plunge for this little guy.

That night during dinner, we video chatted with Sissy and BIL about names. It got a little silly.

Sunday night (December 1st) after he got neutered, he arrived home.

Blogosphere, Meet Rizzo (or as my parents say it, Rissue or Rizsoo).

Rizzo, meet the Blogosphere!

It’s only been three nights and three days thus far but he seems to be doing pretty well. I’m sure this blog will now be ALL ABOUT RIZZO. I hope that won’t be a problem.

————————————————————–

And now a quick recap of the last two weeks so I can get back to Rizzo and start on reading catching up blogs. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving break! I sure did!

11/15 – San Antonio for the FTK Fashion Out Cancer Show. Surprisingly I didn’t take any pictures butttt … 11/16 – Cooked dinner and watched a movie with Gary, Andy, and Patricia.

11/22 – Package filled with love from one of the FTK Families. The momma and all three of her kids wrote a little something and included a dream catcher.

Mum got a box of chocolate covered strawberries in the mail for her birthday (from Tammy). So delicious!

11/23 – Brother’s day of birth but since he didn’t come down, we decided to celebrate Mum’s birthday (which is on the 25th) early at Pappadeaux.

IMG_20131124_183541

11/24 – Ryland’s birthday. Superhero theme! Ryland’s Uncle is actually a friend of mine from high school. It was great getting to catch up with him and hear all he’s accomplished.

IMG_20131126_183112

11/26 – The Hunger Games: Catching Fire with Mallory at Alamo Drafthouse … Ladies Night = cheaper tickets. I cried pretty much throughout the movie. Sorry, Mallory.

PicMonkey Collage (4) (1)

11/28 – Ate our simple Thanksgiving dinner with the family while video chatting with Sissy and BIL like they were still in the same place with us. Thank you, modern day technology.

11/29 – Played Mahjong with the family. I won $8 with the help of Mum.

PicMonkey Collage (3) (1)

11/30 – Casey Donahew Band concert at Mo’s Place with Mallory, Samantha, Sarah, and Lyndsey (not pictured).

12/04 – Finally own an amethyst! Yeahhhhhh!

Finding My Balance

November 6, 2013 by Mellie Dee 9 Comments

If you’ve been reading my blog since the beginning of time, you know I never really write a post without a picture and I don’t open up like a lot of people do in the blogosphere. But I think I’m starting to open up. Yikes.

If you know me, you’ll know I get every other Friday off from work. Well it so happens I’ve been having every Friday off (until the end of the year) thanks to not really taking vacations all year long. As great as it is not having to work, it’s also not so great. I try not to go out and spend money so I can save it for more important things like school loans.

But this past weekend made me realize how lazy I’ve truly been. I use to spend every waking moment for the purpose of helping others. Now it just seems all I do is sit in front of the computer because my job and my teeny tiny self employed job demands it. I’ve lost my way since I joined the adult world a little over a year ago. I had more time in college to do the things I love. I feel that I’m just living life but not truly living my life.

This is me trying to do what I love again so I don’t lose myself. I’m not 100% sure how but I know focusing more on what I love will help. Such as my workouts. Somewhere along the way I fell off the wagon (more like broke the wagon from gaining weight) and before I knew it the year’s almost over. I starting taking the stairs instead of the elevator at work as much as I can and I’ve been getting back on the workout train and though it’s been a struggle, I’m proud of the accomplishment I’ve made so far.

The blog is obviously on my list as well. I’ve invested money into this blog and seeing it on the backburner is  my fault. I’m always hesitant to write what I really feel with the sense of someone actually finding out how crazy I am and seeing the failure that I am. But I’m going to try to open up more. Not just the happy go lucky stories but sometimes, the deep ones so that I can talk myself through things. I hope y’all are okay with that once in a while.

I am not sure what else will be on my list but hopefully once I find my balance, everything else falls into place.

This Or That?

September 24, 2013 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

A very original title … good thing it’s not copyrighted.

I saw this on Blake’s and figured why not. Thanks, Blake for always finding some cool posts for me to do. She originally got this from Erin.

Vacationing in Florida or vacationing in NYC: Vacationing in Florida. I wasn’t a too big of fan of NYC when I went the last two times. Plus, Florida has some nice sun … which I need.

iPhone or Droid: Android all day, everyday. The only reason I’d pick an iPhone is for the Emojis.

NSYNC or Backstreet Boys: I wasn’t all boy crazed like all the other girls when I was younger … but if I have to chose, NSYNC.

Being forced to delete Facebook or being forced to delete Twitter: Twitter. I am connected to a lot of friends and family on Facebook.

Fireball or Miller Lite: Probably Fireball just because I am not a fan of Miller Lite. But if I got t chose I’d say none of the above.

Full House or Family Matters: Full House. Still brings back memories. I use to watch that and sometimes Family Matters then we’d go outside and do our daily walk/bike riding.

Dumbledore or Gandalf: I know everyone’s all ho-hum about Dumbledore but Gandalf was my first so I’d have to say Gandalf.

Dying Easter eggs or Carving pumpkins: Carving pumpkins. It’s just more fun than just putting eggs in colored water.

NFL or NCAAF: I rather play sports than watch but I guess I’d go with NFL since I hear it all the time at work.

A hangover forever or sobriety forever: Sobriety forever. I don’t even drink that much so it shouldn’t be too hard.

January or July: January. I love cold weather! Plus it’s a start of a new year, a new you!

Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus: They’re the same person. Best of both worlds. haha Why is this question even on here? She’s pretty but … skipppp.

Shark Week or Fashion Week: Fashion Week. I’ve never seen Shark Week.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air or Saved by the Bell: Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Will Smith before he was Will Smith.

tumblr_mt9qcyg11S1sr39gto1_250

Britney or Christina: It’s Britney, bitch.

Burrito or Burrito Bowl: Burrito. But I eat it with a fork so … might as well get the bowl.

Reading blogs on your phone or reading blogs on your computer: Computer. I can’t do with the continuous scrolling on some people’s posts cuz they’re so long.

Angelina or Jennifer: Jennifer.

Doug Funny or The Rugrats: Doug Funny.

An open mouth chewer or a heavy breather: Omg … none of the above. Sorry I really cannot pick one.

Happy Tuesday, y’all!
