Word Vomit

I actually don’t like when people use “word vomit” but it seems appropriate for this post. Just a whole lot of word vomit.

I’ve been sick these past few days and took half a day off Monday and all day Tuesday from work. It’s been glorious. All I’ve been doing is relaxing and watching Orange Is The New Black with Rizzo while he sleeps beside me. I could do without all the nudity and stuff in OITNB but the story is pretty good. It’s all sorts of crazy. Wishing I could take more sick days off this week but today I’m getting a new laptop for work and if I miss it, I’d have to wait a while to reschedule.

Is it sad to say I’m ready for March to come? March is the only month this year where I have NOTHING planned. Isn’t that crazy? I just want to relax and do nothing. Going to weddings, traveling, seeing family and friends is wonderful but to have a month where I am not constantly on the move is going to be amazeballs.

If you haven’t noticed, I’m trying something new. Not blogging every day but at least aiming for twice a week if possible. Mondays and Wednesdays seem to be working at the moment, but who knows how long that’ll last. I’m always amazed at how people always have something to say every single day. How do you come up with topics that are intriguing to others?

Reading and commenting blog wise, I usually wait until the end of the week when I actually have more down time to sit and read and comment. I’m hoping I can get my Fridays in the coffee shop back soon. Sadly the coffee shop I go to all the time is renovating/moving. So I need to find another one. Sigh. Why are all the local coffee shops so far from home?

Okay, no more complaining. I forgot how just writing to write feels sometimes.

Weddings and a Rizzo

February 2, 2015 by Mellie Dee 2 Comments

Super long weekend. We drove all the way to Dallas to visit my brother and Tammy’s family, along with my cousin, Joanna, and her soon-to-be husband, Kiran.

There was much talk about both their wedding’s. Joanna and Kiran’s is in a few weeks and I’m super excited! We are attending an Indian wedding, a Chinese wedding, and a American wedding. How crazy is that?

We also tried on bridesmaid dresses for my future sister-in-law’s (SIL) wedding, aka Tammy. We didn’t find any that worked for everyone. And by everyone, I mean me. My chest area is too big for certain dresses and the brand wasn’t going to make a bigger size for it. So back to square one.

I feel horrible since it’s because of me that we still can’t find a dress. I’m hoping we find one soon because I’m getting tired. Like this little guy …

Look at my snaggly toothed baby. This is what he looks like when he’s sleeping in someone’s (my Mum’s) arms.

P.S. Since the Cowboys nor Texans made it to the Super Bowl … go Patriots!! Smile

Happy Monday!

Clear Blues and White Sands

Hello, beautiful clear blue waters and white sands. In a few months, I’ll be all up in you and on you.

Soon enough I’ll get to cross Mexico off my bucket list because Cancun is booked!Smile  It’ll also be my first trip without any of my family members/soon-to-be family members. Eek!

I’m not really sure if it’s really Cancun since it’s called Playa del Carmen and I’m too lazy to research that. But … I will just pretend they are the same. If anyone knows and wants to tell me …

My friends (Wacko and Monica) are getting married and I’ll be rooming with the groom’s sisters! We’re staying at the resort so you know what that means! … DRINKS on DRINKS! … even though I’m not a drinker. You know, gotta look the part. Winking smile

2015 New Year Resolutions

January 21, 2015 by Mellie Dee 1 Comment

San Antonio. Austin. Dallas. Cancun. Hong Kong. Thailand. Big or small, this just might be the year of travels. I just have to factor in travel expenses and vacation days before it’s a yes to everything.

Bridesmaid for two of the five weddings means more expenses – dresses, bachelorette and bridal parties, gifts, etc. Luckily two of the five weddings are right here in Houston. The one in Cancun is still up in the air on whether or not I go but gosh do I want to go. To see my friends get married and just look at that gorgeous blues!

And because there is so much going on, I have to remind myself to stay on track so here are 2015 New Year Resolutions.

Blog more. Almost all the blogs I use to follow stopped blogging. They’re too busy living life – being married, being a mother; understandable. It got me unmotivated to blog because I started losing my friends – people I have never met. But I just have to remember to blog for myself.

Focus on health and fitness. I stopped when I got into that car accident back in March. Although my collar/shoulder isn’t fully 100% healed, I just have to slowly rebuild the muscles around those parts. Slow and steady wins the race! Above is one of my favorite eats. Plate of greens with grilled chicken and pesto pasta. YUM!

Do what I love. Sometimes I forget to just have fun or to just wind down. I am the type of person that always has to have something going on and when plans don’t follow through I freak out. I made a last second decision to go to a Rockets game with Zuco this Monday and it was one of the best times ever. Spontaneous. No planning. Perfection.

Thing Good Thoughts.

Til next time,

Engagement, Paintings, and Food … Lots of Food

As of Saturday, August 23rd, my brother is engaged!!
I believe they are thinking of tying the knot next year so it’s going to be crazy!
Can’t wait to gain another sister.

I donated to ALSA.org after watching Anthony Carbajal’s short informational video.
Then was nominated by my cousin, Vincent, in Hong Kong.
People have been saying the Ice Bucket Challenge is dumb.
In my opinion, any publicity is good publicity.

Houston Restaurant Week.
Perry’s Steakhouse with Mum.
The Capital Grill with Apurva. Her first Houston Restaurant Week!
I love Perry’s and totally understand the love for it.
Capital Grill was great but I’ve had better.

Samantha’s Birthday celebration on the 29th.
We went painting at Pinot’s Palette and an adventure afterward.
Then I met up with Mallory and Samantha the next morning for breakfast.
I need to paint more. I miss it. Even if I suck.
