LC, Pub Run, My Heart

May 3, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

This past weekend was a blissful one. Much needed after the weekend before. April has been a whole lot of driving around but this weekend made it all worth it.

I took Thursday and Friday off so that I could make it to the last Leadership Challenge dinner with Bob and Cindy Thursday night. Bob is retiring and Cindy is quitting and so they invited some alumnis back. I happily accepted. It’s always a pleasure seeing Bob and during circle, we all shared about ourselves and the fact he said one of his favourite memory is when I called him “dude” made me tear up. Such great memories with these peoples.

I spent Friday morning with Jakob helping him with errands for his benefit concert. It was great catching up with him per usual but really wished we had more time. Listening to him talk about things that are passionate to him makes me happy. He has the best heart and wants to help those in need. I can’t wait to see his beautiful pictures from his mission trip!

Andy doesn’t celebrate birthdays but we promised to hang out by going to lunch and shopping before pub run. So he came and picked me up and Andy  had his first Perry’s Steakhouse experience where we ordered the Pork Chop Lunch Special. He was in heaven and I was so full I was going to throw up. Yep. Then we went to Target and Party City and whatnot to buy things for the Hawaiian themed Pub Run.

We were going to watch the Avengers but sadly it was sold out and since I was being a grumpy gill due to lack of sleep, he took me back home so I could take a nap. Then we got ready which during this time, Cantu had texted asking if I was really in town. My heart skipped a beat because although I saw him few weeks prior to give him his early birthday present, I have never truly hung out with him.

Andy and I went over to Kevin C.’s place and pre-gamed with Amanda and Christina as well. Throughout all of this, and much convincing, Cantu finally agreed to come out to pub run. I was surprised he came out by himself and even stayed the whole time. Trooper. It’s always awkward (at least for me) to go somewhere where you don’t know anyone but that one person … but for him and I to have never truly hung out and did that … I applaud him.

Joseph and his two friends met up with us. I hadn’t seen Joseph in forever!! Patricia, Carl, and Jakob met us after Jakob’s benefit concert and we literally danced the night away. I bumped into people who I hadn’t seen in forever. I’ve never been a partier because I’ve always been DD and never trusted anyone to take care of me. But this time around, for some bizarre reason, I didn’t care and had fun for once. I truly think it was because Amanda couldn’t stop pouring me drinks during pre-game. Thanks, Amanda …

Breakfast was had in the AM with Patricia, Carl, Jakob, and Daniel before I departed. I about died on the way home due to exhaustion. Went to bed for a good couple hours, woke up and hung out with the mum, then headed over to the Coronados’ for the Pacquio v Mayweather fight.

It has truly been a great weekend. I really wished that Friday never ended because it was perfect.

March Madness

March 19, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Nope. This has nothing to do with basketball.

I was doing so well with the whole updating thing. At least two times a week. Then Joanna & Kiran’s Wedding broke me. So here’s a quick update because it’s already the halfway point for March.

2015-02-26 21.01.16

Joanna & Kiran’s Wedding Festivities

February 26th was the Indian Celebration which was a lot of fun. We called it a wedding, others called it a celebration. We got dressed up in saris and got our henna done. February 28th was the wedding day.We had the Chinese Tea Ceremony in the morning before the walk down the aisle that evening. We even had an after party at a bar where all the youngens showed up. This was when we had more time to converse with Joanna and Kiran. Overall, fun fun fun! It was nice getting to see family members get tipsy/drunk and spend time and joke with them. As we get older, it’s harder to come together so it’s always a grand time.

Bridal/Bachelorette/Wedding Planning

Although one wedding is down, I still have four more to go! Luckily I don’t have to help out with Tara & Tim’s. But then there is Michelle & Matthew, Wacko & Monica, and Brother & Tammy. For Wacko & Monica’s, I’m just helping them making little decoration name tags but planning for the other two are on full speed.

Social Media Brainstorming Projects

As SCC gains more followers, Ed’s becoming more serious in being more organized and wanting to build a website and a logo so I’ve been coaching him along the way whenever I have time to sit down and help him out with all the technical stuff.

Which is also what I’m trying to help Jakob with. His Instagram is getting a lot of love as time goes on and wants to take it to the next level. He takes some pretty awesome shots, so go check him out. Hopefully I’ll be able to help him where I can because I really do see him go places with this.

Musical…ness?

Bonnie had a birthday celebration at Howl at the Moon, March 13th. We got to see some fun … and sometimes ridiculous renditions of songs. And I finally got to see Michelle and decided it was photobooth time. St Patty’s theme cuz duh. Too hilarious. We didn’t know it would cover up our faces.

I finally went to my first real Rodeo. Usually I go and walk around and … eat. This time I got to see the Rodeo Rodeo and saw Billy Currington! He sang all of my favorite songs and then he surprised the crowd with Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk. Mmm .. hello Billy.

That’s pretty much the update since the last post. It feels like March Madness over here even though March was suppose to be my do nothing month. Sigh.

Until next time,

Grand Weekend

I got to meet Tony & Ann’s new puppy! Westie named Zoey. Or as their son calls her, Bunny Rabbit. Too cute. She’s the same size as Rizzo when he came home!

My usual Chinese New Year picture. Around this time of year, I always get jokes (or maybe they’re serious) about how they should marry an Asian that celebrates Chinese New Year so they can receive red envelopes.

Sebastian and Vincent have a band, Phrolic. They do covers but they also write their own songs and perform them. I try to make their gigs whenever I can and this time I’m so glad I did. I got to see old friends from high school and make new ones.

Then I did something unexpected. Instead of going home afterward, I decided to go to Midtown with some of them. Sometimes I forget that being spontaneous has its perks because I actually had fun … despite the super crowds and a little bit of drama. It was nice to have conversations about nothing and everything with one of them.

Then I got sick from Krystal. Yay …

I’ve had to call in sick but I cannot rest. Wedding things for Joanna’s wedding is almost done. Rizzo’s been helping me.

Hoping I am well enough to get back to work tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Year of the Goat

… or sheep as others would say.

Happy Chinese New Year, lovelies! Wishing you all great health, wealth and success, filled with love and happiness!

I was told this year, I can’t be aloof if I want to find a guy. Which is funny because I get told that all the time. When I like someone, I am as aloof as they can get. So I guess it’s time to open up and let them in. HA

Until next time,

Valentine’s Day

My Valentine’s Day loot from my love!!

Ha Just kidding. A giant package from Liliana and Patricia. Biggest surprise ever! They even included some things for Rizzo. Cutes! I’m excited for the cotton candy.

As for the actual day, I went to breakfast with the family at IHOP. Then Mum and I ran some errands.

Later that night, I went to Price’s congratulations/goodbye party. Price is getting married and also leaving to Washington for school/job. It was a mini high school reunion and was super fun. I love Price and his family. Always so nice and inviting.

That’s pretty much all I remember doing this weekend. Lately, weekends feels like it goes by too fast and I get nothing accomplished. How did I get so busy? … and it’s not even busy. Horrible. Wasting away.

Anyway. Chinese New Year is just around the corner! Who’s excited? Smile
