Carb Overload

July 23, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2018 | 204/365 | Creamy Pesto Pasta

[2018] 204/365: Ashy’s Creamy Pesto Pasta

I finally got to see Scruffy tonight. I’m not even sure when we least saw each other so it must’ve been a long time (a week?). If you ask anyone who knows is they’ll tell y’all that we see one another at least once a week so it was nice to have that time to miss one another.

Ashy made creamy pesto pasta. It wasn’t a hot with everyone but I’m always down for anything pesto every though my whole fish was carbs with a side of meat. I wished there were some veggies but oh well.

I’m pooped and cannot wait to crawl into bed and snuggle up with Rizzo. Night everyone!

Road Trip with Liliana

July 21, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

It’s been a long overdue road trip with Liliana. We’ve spoken so many times but never executed the plans so I was very excited for today to come. She came to pick me up even though it was out of her way since I’m still a little shaken up from the crash.

Newman’s Bakery | Beeville, Texas

We made our way to Beeville and checked in at Newman’s Bakery for the castle tour. We picked up some goodies as well. They were super sweet but they were delicious. I threw the rest away because it was too overly sweet and had nowhere to put it.

Newman’s Castle | Beeville, Texas

We took the ten minute drive to the Newman’s Castle and was impressed at how fancy it looks. The owner knew he talked a lot (from reviews I suppose) and since it was super hot out, he gave everyone permission to begin their own tours if we didn’t want to listen. Also, it was air conditioned inside so it was a plus.

Newman’s Castle | Beeville, Texas | Lunch

After touring the place on our own, we went in for our free lunches. These sandwiches tasted better than other sandwiches and I believe it’s the thick bread and thick slices of turkey. They even had mead! It was super strong and left a horrible taste in our mouths but others loved it.

[2018] 202/365: Newman’s Castle

After lunch we bid farewell to the castle and headed on our merry way.

Chappell Hill Lavender Farm | Brenham, Texas

We were going to go to Blue Bell Creamery but with all the sugar we had we opted for an impromptu stop at Chappell Hill Lavender Farm. It wasn’t the right month for picking but their shops were still opened so we bought some goodies. Funny enough we ended up getting ice cream there. Blueberry Lavender for me and White Chocolate Lavender for her. We didn’t really taste the lavender much and didn’t think it was worth the money. Whomp. I had a few bites of mine until I called it a day.

Liliana Engagement Present Opening

We checked into our hotel and I surprised Lily with her engagement gift. Silly her, thinking it was my toiletry bag or something. Haha

Liliana Engagement Present Contents

An old picture I took of all the contents. I cannot wait for her to use and taste everything! Don’t forget to share with Daniel!!

Wedding Planning with Liliana

We had plans to go shopping in little shops downtown but we ended up sitting in bed planning her wedding and catching up. I missed this and am so happy we were able to do this for hours.

Los Cabos Mexican Grill & Steakhouse | Brenham, Texas

Our stomachs started growling and we ended up at Los Cabos Mexican Grill & Steakhouse. There was so much food and I felt like I was going to blow. I had so much leftover I had to pack it all up.

Now we are back at the hotel. We showered and as Lily waits for me to finish typing, she’s talking to Daniel and watching Wonder Women. Daniel just FaceTime her so I’m going to try to get in on this conversation. Haha Just kidding … maybe. Bye!!

Venturing Out

McDonald’s with Sky

Noah and I walked to McDonald’s today and I quickly filled with regret. I loved that I was out for lunch but fast food always makes me feel belugh after. Lots of talk about friendships, relationships, and college.

2018 | 200/365 | Couple and a Dog Statue

[2018] 200/365: A Couple and Their Dog

Actually I think it’s a cat but I secretly like to wish that it was a dog because dogs are the best. I realize seeing this statue so close to my office that I never really took the time to venture out. I’ve only holed myself on my floor and nowhere else and I’ve only been to places that people take me to. I’m not really sure if I would go out more just for lunches but it makes me want to discover more of Houston. Who’s with me?

Three Nice Men

2018 | 199/365 | Car Accident

[2018] 199/365: Car Crash

What a scary moment. I was heading over to Mallory’s and a sudden crash changed everything. I’ve never been in an accident so bad that I had to call a tow truck, not even when someone tboned me. My radiator blew and was leaking all over the freeway.

I’m thankful to have hit who I did because he was the NICEST man I’ve ever met when it came to this type of thing. I mean, I’m sorry I hit him (dang stop and go, jutting traffic)but there was not a scratch on his truck and wasn’t going to report it. And he stayed with me through it all.

We were sweating in the heat and he offered to let me sit in his air conditioned truck. Was I afraid he’d kidnap me or something? Yes. But I took that chance. He even helped me out with everything even when the cop (also a nice man) showed up and he even offered to take me home, letting me drop of my package at a postal service too. Like seriously, he was amazing.

And can I just add, the tow truck man was super nice as well? I left my work badge im the car and he met up with me to give it to me since the place he took it to was closing and I wouldn’t have made it in time.

I am blessed to be alive and am still in disbelief to have met such wonderful men in times of trouble.

I’m sad I wasn’t able to workout today. Mum’s orders since I could have gotten hurt from the accident. So it’s me and my Kindle until bedtime.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

2018 | 197/365 | Rowing Machine

[2018] 197/365: Rowing Vigorously

I’m not too sure if I mentioned that I bought a rowing machine a while back. This is during my job searching days and was home all the time and I thought that buying this would help me get into the fitness routine again.I wish that I went and splurged a bit more for the more fancier one but this was a good, decent price and it’s good enough to get me there.

I usually leave this out in the other bedroom but due to all the holidays and special events people have been staying over and I always have to put it up. I finally pulled it out again and thought to challenge myself to do a hundred on the hardest setting and my goodness was it a challenge. But I did it!

Now let’s see how long I can keep this up. Twenty eight days makes it a habit, right? Like blogging everyday this year?
