Crawfish Boil with Priscilla’s Family

May 4, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I finished my course one day early! I took my two remaining quizzes and wrote a paper all before two pm! I am currently waiting for four people to grade my paper and get my final grade. Fingers crossed I pass!

Crawfish Boil with Priscilla's Family

I got ready, picked up some cookies, and headed to Priscilla’s sister’s house for their family crawfish boil. I never say no to free crawfish! They were huge and spicy. It was perfect and the new take with cauliflower took me away. The flavors really get down in there.

We’ve sat, talked, laughed and the Rockets game is so close! The fight is about to be on but I’ll probably go home before that ends.

A 14 year old was giving me relationship advice which I will say was pretty dang good advice and I never knew that a middle schooler saying I’m really pretty will make me smile. Thankful for these two because they made my night.

I am pooped. Sad the weekend is almost over but glad I get tomorrow to relax since I’m done with my course. Salesforce is probably going to be next and I’m quite excited for it!

Day of Old Co-workers

May 3, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

The day started out with talking to London and falling asleep due to my nighttime meds. I took the wrong one and it knocked me out for a few more hours before getting ready.

I packed my stuff and headed to Sissy’s. Dropped of my things where she fed me all these vitamin type things to help with my cold.

Guadalajara with Priscilla, Vicky, Fahad, Tayeb

I called an Uber and met up with Priscilla, Vicky, Fahad and Tayeb for lunch at Guadalajara. The boys didn’t know Priscilla and I were going to be there so it was a nice surprise for them. They even told me I look great and I told them they can too if they leave the company.

It’s weird how 8 months at a company can bring you some people that stay in your life for longer than you thought. We had a lot of laughter and jokes. So much freaking jokes. I like messing with Fahad.

Course Study

I took an Uber back to Sissy’s, took an hour nap then worked on my course. I just found out I have to write a paper. I’m not ready for that part and I’m afraid I won’t be able to finish in time.

Also, I cannot help but laugh every time I see this mug of Ross and his family.

Writing on an iPad is still a challenge but I know it’ll get better as practice makes perfect!

Axelrad with Kieran, Salim, Aaron, John A, and Others

When six hit, I drove to Axelrad and met up with Salim, Kieran, John A, Aaron, and a few fresh faces I have never met.

I remember less than a month of Scruffy and I breaking up, he told me he’d give me two months that Kieran and I would end up dating. Well, honey, it’s been over five months and that ain’t the case and never will.

Salim didn’t tell them I was coming so imagine how awkward it was walking up to the table. It was nice getting to talk and laugh with them. Being around them makes me feel hella smart especially when they talk about things and I can understand. I had to force myself to be there since finding parking gives me anxiety, it’s all dudes (data engineers and data scientists) and we all do not work at the company anymore except for Aaron though he did put in his two weeks.

John was nice enough to buy us pizza from next door while I chugged some dark venom beers. Yum! My stomach will not be thanking me tomorrow.

If all goes according to plan, studying will be first and foremost then crawfish. Yippee!

Townhall Presentation

May 2, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Yogi Tea & Meds

I wanted to stay home so badly today. So many sniffles but I didn’t have time to be sick. I chugged so much green tea kombucha while sucking down cough medicine while getting ready for the townhall presentation.

Townhall Questionnaire

Luckily, my part was pretty fast. I could have potentially given my part to Christopher and I could have stayed home. But it was nice to be seen for once even though I said “um” a lot. Whoops. One of our presenters had this slide up and it was hilarious to see the votes. Arya was the clear winner.

Erin announced her leave with the company yesterday and everyone is in a small tizzy. Unsure who’s going to take over her position. If all goes according to plan, I’ll gain another friend to join the team so no lose there!

I skipped out on mentoring since I wouldn’t want the kids to get sick. I’ve been mostly studying waiting for my night meds to kick in. Hopefully I feel better tomorrow since I have lunch plans and was invited for happy hour later. We shall see, we shall see.

Sick Day

May 1, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Macaroni Spam and Eggs

Getting sick meant working from home which meant actually having time to cook breakfast myself. This is a traditional Hong Kong style breakfast and it brings back so many memories. I know Spam is horrible for you but a little once in a blue moon won’t hurt

I was in meetings and phone calls all day. I’m not 100% sure what I’ve accomplished other than that. I’m also one of the presenter for tomorrow’s Town Hall and I’m a little scared to be speaking to EVERYONE while being sick! Being an employee really is hard work. Wish me luck!

Girl’s Game Night

April 30, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

After lunch I had a long phone call with Priscilla and bounced many, many texts with London before I met up with a bunch of girls at Tea + Victory, a game board cafe type place. It was nice meeting so many people and we had a grand time playing different games.

Tea + Victory | Fish and Tater Tots

They had coffee and alcohol there along with some food choices. I went for the fish and chips but subbed the chips for tater tots. The fish was fried really well but I wasn’t too big of a fan of the fish itself. The tater tots we’re gold though.

Tea + Victory | Red Flags

One of the best games we played tonight was called Red Flags. It’s like Cards Against Humanity but you’re choosing the best guy to date. White symbolizes good qualities and red symbolizes bad.

The bad quality on the last one with the blank was filled in with ” the strip club”. Can you figure out which one I chose? Winner gets a prize!
