Volunteering and Pampering

Meals on Wheels for Storm Season | Volunteer

Sissy and I woke up bright and early and headed to the Meals on Wheels building. We packed our car with fourty water bottle cases, hurricane emergency food packages and information to drive to certain locations for seniors.

We stopped by Pappa’s BBQ for breakfast and coffee before staring our route. Their tamales were surprisingly good.

“Why are there two giant penises in their yard?” – Sissy

I’m glad I spent two hours of my morning helping others. I’ve never been to that part of Houston. Seeing their living conditions and such really makes me grateful for everything I have.

Afterward, I got home to get ready and wrapped Jamsine’s present. And headed over to Katie’s so Jasmine could open her early birthday present. Then I headed over to Tiff’s Treats and picked up some cookies and headed to Mallory’s. We got manicures and pedicures.

Swimming at Janna and Mace's | Glitter Floatie

We went back to her place and headed over to Janna and Mace’s for some swimming and Father’s Day celebration. Mallory and I had made a lot stop at Walgreens to pick up goggles for John and I saw a sparkly Galaxy Floatie I just had to buy.

This is a screenshot from a boomerang. But there were little glittery pieces inside! It was super cute and I wished I had a pool to use it all the time! Also, you can’t even tell she’s pregnant. Ugh … So jealous.

We had Papa John’s, Nothing Bundt Cake, Tiff’s Treats, watermelon, and ice cream for dinner. I got to spend time with Danica who asked so many questions along with Darby. They asked things like, “Do you have your own family?” And “Are we your family?” It’s all so adorable.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Rattan with Erin, Jake, Wacko, Juhi and Omar

Jake came into the office so we went and got lunch at Rattan with Erin, Juhi, Wacko, and Omar after the handover meeting. I’ve always wanted to try this place and I’m glad I finally got to. Everything was surprisingly good, even the dessert that came with the lunch order!

Astros v Brewers & George Springer Bobblehead

My old team had a few extra tickets to the Astros vs Brewers game and I was lucky enough to be invited. I got a George Springer Bobblehead that Brudda has been trying to call dibs on.

Astros v Brewers | Shake Shack

I’ve been craving Shake Shack and had mistaken it to be at the Toyota Center. Imagine my surprise when we saw it as we were walking towards our seats. Their fries are probably my number one favourite.

Astros v Brewers | Erin

Glad I got to sit with Erin as tomorrow will be her last day. We, along with a lot of my old team members had a great time. This is by far one of the best Astros games I’ve been to.

Astros v Brewers | Karbach Crawford Bock

Joel came and sat with me for a while majority of the people went to get drinks. Wacko was nice enough to get me a beer and Joel saw me trying to take a picture, just went and grabbed it out of my hand and held it for me. I asked if I can use his services if his wife was okay with it. Can you imagine having an assistant every time you wanted to get a shot? He even complied when I was making a boomerang. Boys, take note.

Spontaneity

Erin's Going Away Happy Hour 2 | Yardhouse | Old Fashioned

Erin had her second going-away happy hour at Yardhouse tonight. Only a select few were invited. I was the only one who isn’t on that team anymore and the first happy hour I’ve had with Delisha since we’ve both been back at this company. It was nice getting to hang out with them again outside of the office and reminisce about the past.

Erin's Going Away Happy Hour 2 | Yardhouse | Food

We ordered way too much food and I felt pretty horrible since the company picked up the tab. I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to the company paying for my stuff unless it’s for business travel purposes. Two more days until Erin is leaving the company. Looking forward to her third and finally happy hour next Thursday though.

I’m not always spontaneous. I like to think about all the positives and negatives before making big decisions especially when it comes to spending a big chunk of money. But in less than 24 hours of joking about taking a trip, I ended up booking tickets. I am excited to fly away from reality for a bit and spend time with one of my bests soon. I’ve been researching and hiking will definitely be on our itinerary. Eeek!

Life Lately

June 7, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Hi. It’s been a while.

If you’ve been reading the blog, you’d notice I’ve been trying to have human interaction more. I’m not very social in the sense that I’m a homebody and I don’t do well meeting new people. Anxiety sets in and I just want to hide. I’ve been pushing myself to see where it takes me. Hopefully, this also helps with my networking skills.

Chuy's with Erin, Angie, Josh
Chuy’s with Erin, Angie, and Josh on Wednesday. Josh and I shared our chiropractor stories.

Speaking of work, it has been a whirlwind since next week will be Erin’s last week. Christopher and I have been making time to have lunch with her every day the best we can to absorb her in before she’s gone forever. I moved one of my three monitors over to her cube just so I can spend a little more time with her. We talked about going to Japan to visit but it might be a trip done separately depending on how things work out with my traveling plans next year.

Gyu Kaku with Erin, Rose, Michelle
Gyu Kaku with Erin, Rose, and Michelle because work was too much today.

Speaking of traveling, we decided to do a cousins trip towards the end of the year. We’re not too certain if this is a good idea or not especially since everyone has different forms of traveling and all want to do different things. So far, it’s civil but who knows what can happen. I’m planning to make shirts for us all but I might get lazy. And … maybe we’ll fight and the trip gets canceled.

Tree House Coffeehouse with Erin, Rose, Michelle
We went to Tree House for coffees afterward because they didn’t want to go back to work and it was too early for my chiropractor appointment. One of the best frappes I’ve ever had.

I’ve been spending a lot of time bettering my knowledge. I kind of put that on the back burner when Scruffy and I were dating. It’s hard getting back into the swing of things but so far I’m enjoying it and I know it’ll help me in the future as I do more.

Rizzo and Friend

Rizzo hasn’t been hiding anymore. Started eating again. He’s doing the small jumps but won’t do the big ones and will cry until I pick him up. We try to stop his jumps but he’s too fast sometimes. Hopefully, he’ll get better with time and won’t get worse. He got to spend tonight with Juan-Juan. I don’t think that’s how you spell it since it’s a girl but they got along well as Rose and I caught up.

Time to relax and finish up Chernobyl. Hope you all had a great week!

2019 Belated Birthday Lunch

May 29, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2109 Belated Birthday Lunch with Rose | Gyu Kaku

I finally celebrated my birthday with Rose at Gyu Kaku for lunch. She has her lunch calendar booked for months so that’s the reason for the belatedness.

She’s never been to Gyu Kaku before so she was all down for it. It was funny watching her cook and get overwhelmed by everything around her.

We were surprised we finished everything and cow tongue is still my number one favourite. Yum!

Free Food from Work

Work went by so slowly but glad all the meetings were short today. I was even lucky to be given a free scallop meal! I’m obviously too full to eat it but maybe I’ll be hungry by the time I pick my parents up from the airport and get home.

Hoping I am able to get some studies in before bed.
