Roll Me Into Bed For A Food Coma

February 23, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Jarro Cafe | Houston, Texas | Pastor Tacos

Scruffy came over with Luna this morning and after a few ball throws and work on the laptop, we headed to Jarro Cafe for the beloved tacos we’ve missed so much.

Freedom & Company | Houston, Texas

Afterwards, we headed over to Freedom & Company for a haircut. Go check her out! She’s pretty great and listens to your opinons.

Himalaya Restaurant & Catering | Houston, Texas

Since Himalaya Restaruant was close by, we had to try it out – mainly because everyone says it’s the best!

Himalaya Restaurant & Catering | Houston, Texas | Lamb Biryani

Lamb Biryani [tender pieces of lamb cooked in a magical blend of dry whole spices and then layered with fragrant Basmati rice. This is the Indo-Pakistani version of the Spanish Paella] | $12.92

This wasn’t up my alley. Scruffy liked it but I wasn’t a big fan.

Himalaya Restaurant & Catering | Houston, Texas | Side Dishes

This side dish with a dipping sauce that Scruffy says is chutney was free. We didn’t really touch it.

Himalaya Restaurant & Catering | Houston, Texas | Garlic Nan

Garlic Nan | $2.99

This is bomb. I wish it was as fluffy as the tandoori nan but it was still amazing mostly because of the garlic. YUM!

Himalaya Restaurant & Catering | Houston, Texas | Pre-Set Lunch Special

Pre-Set Lunch Special Combo [delicious platter that changes daily: incles all of the following – tender boneless chicken curry, boneless lamb curry, grilled or dry appetizer, dal or vegetable (their choice), steamed basmati rice, and a fresh tandoori nan] | $13.75

This was my favourite. I liked the lamb curry, vegetable curry, rice and the nan. Other than that, I was meh about it.

I think Bombay Grill is still probably my favourite Indian food.

Kirby Ice House | Houston, Texas

After being home for a while, we headed out to Kirby Ice House for Saleh’s early birthday celebration.

2018 | 054/365 | Kirby Ice House | Houston, Texas | Frosted Rose and Beer

[2018] 054/365: Out After 9 PM

Scruffy and I are never out late anymore. Not too sure if it’s because we live in the suburbs or if we’re just both lazy and over it but I thought we should commemorate this. This frozen rose drink was bomb. I loved it but not so much the price.

The Waffle Bus | Houston, Texas

They had two food trucks there but we ended up picking The Waffle Bus.

The Waffle Bus | Houston, Texas | Chicken Thunder Fries

Chicken Thunder Fries [buttermilk fried chicken bites on top of seasoned waffle fries with spicy mayo and ancho chile honey butter] | $10

We got our usual and scarfed it down.

It was nice to see and meet other people, hang out and talk with them about things that mean nothing but we soon bid farewell since we still had to drive back and the pups were waiting for us.

Please roll me into bed now. I’m ready to be in a food coma after today’s foods.

I Love My Boys

Saigon Pho and Grill Vietnamese Noodle House | Sugar Land, Texas | Crawfish

Crawfish | $8.99

Crawfish at Saigon Pho and Grill Vietnamese Noodle House while Scruffy got pho for lunch. It was cooked to perfection, flavour was great, but the size wasn’t amazing, especially for that price. Sigh, sucks. I am excited about crawfish season. Cheap, big, and DELICIOUS!

OG Tea | Sugar Land, Texas | Hazelnut Milk Tea and Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Since one pound wasn’t anything, we went to OG Tea for some Hazelnut Milk Tea and Strawberry Banana Smoothie. YUM! The smoothie surpassed my expectations.

OG Tea | Sugar Land, Texas | Hazelnut Milk Tea and Strawberry Banana Smoothie | Panda Lids

I especially loved the covers on the drinks. Scruffy calls me a Panda and it was so cute that on mine, there’s a panda and a pup = RIzzo and I!

And Scruffy had a panda and a boy hugging it = Scruffy hugging me. hehe

OG Tea | Sugar Land, Texas | Popcorn Chicken and Fries

Scruffy ordered some bahn mis for Ashy and Korman and I went for popcorn chicken and fries with ranch. Everything was a bit too sweet but fried to perfection. I’m not too certain if I’d get this again. Maybe when I’m extremely hungry and it’s the only thing.

Meatball, Lentil, and Rice Dinner by Korman at Scruffy's

Korman cooked us all dinner and Rami and Caitlin came over with Peyton. The dinner was delicious and it was great to finally see the little baby since the end of December. It has been a long while. She’s grown so much!

Home Alone With The Pups

February 20, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2018 | 051/365 | Chilling on the Sofa with Rizzo and Luna

[2018] 051/365: Sofa Chilling With The Pups

I agreed to dog sit for Scruffy today since no one was going to be home and it would be the first day that Luna would have without Scruffy and Daisy.

Daisy passed away last Friday and it’s been hard for everyone, especially Ashy. As annoying as Daisy was with her barks and the way she was insistent with the ball, I would never wish her death. May she always be running after balls up in doggie heaven.

Rudy's Country Store and BBQ | Richmond, Texas | Moist Brisket and Creamed Corn

Later that night, Scruffy, Ashy, Komran, and I went to Rudy’s for some delicious BBQ. Komran doesn’t get much of it in California so he was happy we went there for dinner. I was super happy to finally get my creamed corn.

85°C Bakery | Sugar Land, Texas | Breads and Pastries

Afterward, they wanted dessert so we went to 85° Bakery for some pastries and breads that we all shared together.

I am now regretting stuffing my face, sitting at Andrew’s, watching Chinese while they bro out.

Hopefully this gives me a great night sleep!

So Much Food All The Time

February 19, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2018 | 050/365 | Cheddar's with Scruffy and Andrew

[2018] 050/365: Honey Butter Croissant Goodness

I used to hate honey, butter, or croissant. Something in my snapped and now I’m a lover of it. Or maybe it’s the fact that once they’re all mixed as one, it’s the BEST thing ever created.

Anyway, Scruffy and I met up with Andrew to Cheddar’s for lunch before heading to HEB for some goodies then home to do absolutely nothing.

Kebabs and Ice Cream with Cake

Ashy and Jamie had people over today for dinner and we enjoyed a DELICIOUS kebab dinner. The guests brought over chocolate chip ice cream and cake. What a duo!

Scruffy and I are now debating on playing a game or watching an episode of Games of Thrones. We’re secretly both trying hard to not finish it all since we know we’d have to wait for Season 8.

I’ve noticed my every day posting of a picture a day has been foods all day erryday. I need to go out and move around more cuz this isn’t a great look on me if you know what I mean. haha

Nadeen’s Baby Shower

February 18, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

New Pho Katy | Katy, Texas | Beef Vermicelli

Headed to New Pho Katy today before Brudda, SIL, and Emmy went back up to Dallas. We are not sure how much longer this place can keep afloat since we’ve been hear a few times, mostly because Sissy is a vegetarian, and it’s usually just us and no other customer.

2018 | 049/365 | Red Envelopes

[2018] 049/365: Red Envelopes

My Chinese New Year loot! I haven’t opened them yet though.

Nadeen's Baby Shower

Nadeen’s baby shower was later today and we enjoyed some homemade finger foods, played some cute games, watched her opened presents before everyone started to leave.

Luna and Rizzo Sleeping

Scruffy went home while I took a nap with Luna and Rizzo before following suit and went over to his house with the pups.

Vegetarian Dinner at Scruffy's

Ashy’s best friend, Komron, is visiting from California and made us a lovely vegetarian dinner. It was quite delicious and for Scruffy being a big meat eater, he ate more than I thought he would!

We’re now contemplating what to do before calling it a good night.
