Team Building at 8th Wonder Brewery

June 14, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

8th Wonder | Houston, Texas | Team Building with Beer and Pizza

Hi lovelies, I am enjoying work especially now that I don’t have to talk to the mean lady as much as I used to. Win! And it helped that I had today’s team building at 8th Wonder Brewery to look forward to. When we got there pizza was already on the tables and we all got a pint glass with three tokens. We chowed down and I met someone that speaks my language! I always get super happy when I meet people who speak in my dialect because it’s so rare.

Soon enough I was at another table playing What Do You Meme? with new people. There were many laughs and inappropriate moments. Whoops … but they were all cool so it all worked out okay.

Eastie Boyz | Houston, Texas | Fries with Pulled Pork

One of the ladies ordered fries with pulled pork to share with everyone from the Eastie Boyz food truck. I’ve always seen it but never ordered food from there. I was pretty floored that I actually liked the pulled pork more than the fries.

[2018] 165/365: Team Building Winner

Every thirty minutes from five to eight, they gave out a gift bag. A few of them had Astros tickets and I won one of them!! The game is on a Wednesday … dollar hot dog night!! I was also able to snag fourteen total beer tokens that I can share with Scruffy, Sissy, and BIL next time we go. Eeep! How exciting.

It’s been a great day. A handful of us stayed until nine because we were having such great conversations. I feel better getting the chance to meet more people who I see every day but never speak to. I will have to see them next week though because I have so much overtime that I took tomorrow off. Time to relax, enjoy cuddles with Rizzo, watch TVB shows, and play with my IPad. Night everyone!

Happy Hour and Dinner Date

June 8, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Poke Nachos and Happy Hour Drinks

After work, Scruffy came over with Luna. Luna has been enjoying her playdate with all the other puppies in the house.

Westopped by Yardhouse for their happy hour. Due to their slow service we drank our drinks, ate our poke Nachos and headed out the door.

Kendra Scott Party

We stopped by Kendra Scott to use Scruffy’s birthday discount and saw their cute donut display. They were having a little party for best friends. So adorable!

Grub Burger

We then headed to Grub, sharing a burger, fries, and brussels sprouts. They we’re even passing out free dirt and works shakes!!

[2018] 159/365: Dark Chocolate Durian

Currently I am playing Castles of Burgundy with Scruffy, Sissy, and BIL. I tried a dark chocolate durian and am extremely surprised how good it was. They we’re all saying how stinky it was. Kiss me, Scruffy! Haha

2018 Dad’s Birthday

Hong Kong Cafe Macaroni Breakfast

We took a group picture before heading back to Houston. Scruffy and I stopped by Hong Kong Cafe, ordering takeout. While we were waiting for our food, we stopped by the sushi place next door and enjoyed a few pieces. Once we got our food, we stopped by Eck Bakery and picked up a dozen of egg tarts for Dad. When we got home, we ate our foods then showered, waiting for Sissy and BIL to arrive.

Tasty Ko | Katy, Texas | Dad's 2018 Birthday

We played San Juan, a new board game Scruffy got him. We all enjoyed it and then ended up going to Tasty Ko for Dad’s (and Scruffy’s) birthday dinner. I was surprised that we cleared out EVERYTHING. Only less than a handful of meat was left!

[2018] 154/365: Dad’s Birthday

We then went home, cut the cake and Dad opened his presents before Sissy, BIL, Scruffy, and Luna left back to their own homes.

I’m so sleepy, I’m ready to go to bed, but not ready to go to work. I wish everyone only worked four work days with three day weekends. I feel like everyone would be much more productive.

2018 Scruffy’s Birthday

Breakfast at the Beach House

After eating breakfast, the birthday boy opened all his presents.

Galveston Beaches

We then got ready and headed to the beach for a couple of hours before heading back to the beach house to clean up.

2018 | 153/365 | Scruffy's Birthday

[2018] 153/365: Happy Birthday, Scruffy!

Scruffy and I all clean and ready to head to The Strand where there are shops and restaurants and where you can drink on the streets.

Lapalapa | Galveston, Texas | Peach Bellini

I opted for a Peach Bellini from Lapalapa. I chugged it fast because the next place we wanted to go to doesn’t let outside drinks.

Murphy's Irish Pub | Galveston, Texas | Cheese Pizza

When we got to Murphy’s Irish Pub Jamie ordered a cheese pizza and Scruffy ordered a beer and a couple Irish Car Bombs for him and Rami.

Chugging the Bellini wasn’t a smart idea because I started to feel sick. Thank goodness for that tiny slice of pizza that made me feel better. I am bold enough to say that this is one of the best pizzas I’ve had.

Black Pearl Oyster Bar & Grill | Galveston, Texas

Soon later we all headed to the Black Pearl for Scruffy’s birthday dinner.

Black Pearl Oyster Bar & Grill | Galveston, Texas | Food

This is all the different foods I tried. We ordered way too much and am we packed the leftovers to go. This place isn’t bad. The gumbo is one of the best I’ve had. They give so much seafood! The etouffee could have been better. I would come back for the gumbo and oysters!

Now we are heading back to the beach house. I cannot wait to change out of these clothes and relax with a board game.

Galveston Beach

Pleasure Pier | Galveston, Texas

The day started with me eating leftover KFC while Scruffy and his parents cooked themselves breakfast. As I was getting ready they got pulled into the BP oil spill movie. It was so sad watching it since it was an incident that never should have happened.

When that ended, his parents went to the beach and Scruffy and I headed to the oil rig for a tour. As we were driving we realized just hot and humid it was and decided to do something else instead since the rig was going to be all outside. We passed by Pleasure Pier, somewhere I always wanted to do but the dang weather wasn’t cooperate.

Vanilla Bean Frap | Starbucks

We decided to pick up some things from Kroger and I picked up a vanilla bean frappacino to curb the dizziness I was getting from the heat.

Mario's Pizza | Galveston, Texas

We headed back to the house, ordered pickup pizza from Mario’s Pizza because Papa John’s said we were too far for delivery. Sigh …

Mario's Pizza | Galveston, Texas | Pepperoni and Mushroom

Scruffy picked it up while I set up the Castle of Burgundy game. This pizza was actually decent. The only complaint we had was that they folded our pizza because it didn’t fit the box which in return ruined those two slices since the toppings slid right off. But no big deal.

2018 | 152/365 | Galveston Beaches

[2018] 152/365: Galveston Beach

We only got through the first phase of five of the game before Rami, Caitlin, and Peyton came walking through the door. We packed up the game and played cards instead before heading to the beach.

Bluewater Grill & Ignoble Pizzeria | Galveston, Texas

It didn’t take long until we went back to the beach house and ordered dinner from Bluewater Grill & Ignoble Pizzeria. The food wasnt the best. They tasted like store bought everything.

Onething that was super disappointing was that they said their fries are different. When we opened the box expecting amazingness we saw dry, hard fries instead. This is definitely not a place we suggest.

I’m not too certain what the plans are now but I’m ready to fall straight to sleep it I could.
