2018 Jamie’s Birthday

June 30, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Bombay Grill Lunch

I went and picked up lunch for Scruffy and I at Bombay Grill. I haven’t had it in a long time since Scruffy got sick from them. We came to a conclusion that it was most likely their yogurt so we steer clear of that now. We ordered hot since the medium was never spicy enough and it was perfect!

2018 Jamie's Birthday Present

We went and visited Mama in the hospital. Jamie and Ashy came home and Jamie opened her birthday present a day early. I’m excited to see the tea flowers bloom.

Bistro Provence | Houston, Texas

For her birthday dinner we went to Bistro Provence. Scruffy’s boss used to take him here when he worked at the other company so I was excited we were finally getting to try it.

[2018] 181/365: Best Dang Dinner

Okay, it’s not the best dinner but it was dang delicious. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a French restaurant and eaten like this so it hit the spot. Everyone loved my duck entree and we all agreed the foie gras was on point.

Can anyone take me to France? I want to eat like the French … and maybe then I’ll lose a few pounds. haha

JJ and I’s First Time at Chuck E. Cheese

Chuck E. Cheese | Katy, Texas | Mouse

After work I met up with Mallory and JJ at Chuck E. Cheese. I’ve never been here before so I didn’t know what to expect. But I did expect the mouse to be creepy x1000 (picture above of statue for proof). Surprisingly the costume looked normal and wasn’t as scary but the girls who were in the suit were super lazy to say the least. The kids like it regardless since they make it rain tickets.

Chuck E. Cheese | Katy, Texas | Pizza and Beer

Mallory and I each got pizza and beer, water for JJ. I did expect the pizza to be killer since Scruffy raved about it before and it was! I was extremely surprised. The bottom was crispy but it was still thick enough and the crust tasted like garlic butter. I want to pop out a kid just to get this again. I’m sure they have rules where you don’t need to have a kid if you’re just getting pizza, right?

[2018] 178/365: JJ and His Pizza

This is my favourite picture of JJ. He was walking, pizza in hand taking little bites. It was the cutest thing ever. When he got all into the games he handed me his pizza like, “hold this while I play”.

Mal and I entertained him with games. He loves anything with buttons but was especially enamored with the soccer one where a coin drops out. He picks it up and we roll the coin in where tickets come out. He loved ripping the tickets out and handing it to me. So cute.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen them and he’s grown so much. Sigh, makes me miss my niece and wish she was closer.

Pool Day

2018 | 174/365 | Pool Day

[2018] 174/365: Pool Day

Horea and the kids came over for a quick pool day. The kids are still a bit shy but they’re breaking out of their shell and soon enough they were holding my hand, asking me to flip them upside down and whatnot. I had a very fun time with them.

Burgers and Hot Dogs

Scruffy even made hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone. I opted to wrap mine with lettuce instead of buns and it was equally delicious.

We played in the pool a bit more and then they left for a church event. That’s also around the time Rami, Caitlin, and Peyton showed up. We played with Peyton for a bit before they left as well. Ashy and Jamie went to the hospital while Scruffy and I laid on the couch. I think I took a short nap then too.

The Pho Shack | Sugar Land, Texas | Pho and Egg Rolls

Jamie, Scruffy, and I went to The Pho Shack for dinner. They used to have the worst broth I’ve ever tasted and we vowed we wouldn’t be back. But about half a year ago, I wasn’t feeling well and really wanted broth for my throat and this was the closest pho place. We were floored by how much different the soup was and now it’s one of our favourite pho places!

Now it’s iPad and telly fun time. Good night, lovelies!

Snappy Salads | Houston, Texas

2018 | 172/365 | Snappy Salads | Baja Shrimp Wrap

[2018] 172/365: Snappy Salads’ Baja Shrimp Wrap

I was sitting there, minding my own business, when a secretary came up to me and asked if I wanted free food for lunch. I was hesitant since I had leftover Chipotle in the fridge but when she told me it was from Snappy Salads, I jumped at the chance. I’ve been meaning to try this place but never had the courage to. There were a couple salads and a few different wraps left on the table and I snagged a Chipotle Chicken wrap for Lil-P and a Baja Shrimp wrap for myself. I am FLOORED by how delicious it was. I am excited to order from them in the future. They have HORRIBLE reviews so I am going to omit noting them but their complaints were nothing major. Just straight pettiness.

Cravin Cajun | Crawfish and Shrimp

Work flew by and soon enough I was home and Scruffy and Luna were on their way over. Luna played with all the pups while he and I went on our crawfish and shrimp date at Cravin’ Cajun. This time it was two pounds of crawfish, two pounds of shrimp, one corn, one cup of mushrooms, and eight potatoes. I still felt it was a lot of food. Now that my appetite is a bit smaller, we’ve been trying to gauge what is the right amount of food. I tend to over order because I want to try EVERYTHING and I know I can always take it home to eat later. I’m trying to do less of that, but it’s still hard.

Tomorrow is Friday and I cannot wait! Another busy weekend but I know it’ll be worth the memories!

EID Mubarak!!

June 15, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

End of Ramadan | Eid Mubarak

Today marks the end of Ramadan or as they would say, EID Mubarak! We celebrated by going to Camilla’s house for some light snacks. Jamie made a tomato sauce with egg type thing that you dip with bread. The other crazy looking thing is like a funnel cake but much oilier. They love their carbs! haha

Jarro Cafe Tacos

We then went to the Jarro Cafe. It’s been forever and we were bummed when we found out they were all out of pastor. We ended up getting three tacos total, one for each of us and sharing the last one. Yum. I wish they were closer to my house!

2018 | 166/365 | Cravin' Cajun Date with Scruffy

[2018] 166/365:

We went back to my place, lazed around and headed to 99 Ranch Market before eating dinner at Cravin’ Cajun. I was shocked when Scruffy said he craved it so I agreed to it without hesitation. We ended up order four pounds of crawfish, one pound of shrimp, two corns, and A LOT of potatoes.

It’s been a great day. I really do miss having every other Friday off. It really puts into perspective how much I actually got done not having to work those two Fridays a month. Now to relax for the rest of the weekend.
