Deep Fried Chickens

March 8, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Hot Cheetos Fried Chicken, Seasoned Fry Fried Chicken, and Hot Funyuns Fried Chicken

Rami and his co-workers came over for lunch and games. They brought pizza while Scruffy and fried up so4me chicken nuggets. We used Hot Cheetos, Seasoned Fry, and Hot Funnyuns to see what results we got. We both liked the Hot Funnyuns the most.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

[2018] 067/365: Harry Potter #1

Scruffy and I are hoping to go to California soon and if so, visit Harry Potter World (?) so I finally got Scruffy to watch the first HP movie with me. I’m hoping we can get through them all, including Fantastic Beasts. That’s the only one I haven’t seen.

Fajita Steak and Veggie Dinner

Scruffy made fajita steak and grilled zucchni while I made sauteed peppers, onions, and mushrooms as well as guacamole. Everything came out great.

Rizzo and the Orange Ball

Rizzo doesn’t play ball a lot but when he does, it makes my heart melt, especially because the ball is the size of his face and he can carry it in his mouth. Luna wasn’t pleased since it was her ball and she could only stare at him playing with it.

Right now Scruffy is in a frying chicken high and using the rest of the chickens we had marinating earlier to make a different version, beer-fried. It’s coming out okay but keeps falling apart. We cannot open our own restaurant just yet. hahaha

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas

Scruffy and I started out with lunch at Café Rabelais. I love this part of town but can never live here with the busy traffic.

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas | Bread & Butter

Bread & Butter | FREE

The butter was too hard and the bread was TOO toasted. I had fun eating the soft parts and dipping it into our next dish.

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas | Escargot

Escargot | $8

Super buttery and garlicky. We loved this dish and the fact we could dip SO much bread in it. Always a bummer that places only give you six. Never enough!

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas | Bone Marrow with Toasted Bread

Bone Marrow [with toasted bread] | $12

We wanted the foie gras but since they didn’t have that for the lunch menu we ended up getting the bone marrow which wasn’t bad at all. Definitely better than the ones we got in Lake Charles. Scruffy’s only complaint was that the toasted bread was buttered and with bone marrow’s buttery-ness, it’s too much. Other than that we both loved it.

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas | Roasted Cauliflower

Roasted Cauliflower | $8

I wanted to get something healthier, not so buttery and since they didn’t have the Brussels sprouts, I got this. It wasn’t the best but still delicious.

[2018] 066/365: Homemade BBQ Meal By Scruffy & I

We went and hung out with Caitlin and Peyton a bit and I even got Peyton to fall asleep. Either I’m boring or I am good. haha

Since Andrew was coming over again, Scruffy put the ribs in the smoker and I went to the store to pick up some things for the sides. Everything came out well though Scruffy will say otherwise.

Rizzo, Luna, Smokey Chewing Dentals and Bone Marrow

Caitlin was nice enough to supply the puppies with bone marrows and a dental so Rizzo got the dental while Luna and Smokey both chewed on bone marrows. So messy but the pups enjoyed it!

Right now we are all watching telly and relaxing after a great meal. I’m ready for bed.

Movies And Stuffing My Face Day

March 6, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Churrasco's | Sugar Land, Texas | Favor

Today has been movies, telly, and Churrasco’s to fill my day. Favor was having a free delivery day so I made use of it. They forgot my soup so I ended up getting $6 credit for next time. Score!

[2018] 065/365: Delicious Dinner by Scruffy

This is my idea of a great meal. Wishing for more of this coming in the near future since we have the whole house to ourselves for a few weeks. Eeep!

Crawfish Season Is Here!

March 5, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Dumplings & Sauce

Had dumplings for lunch while watching Three, a Hong Kong movie. So many things wrong with the movie but we love Louis Koo so we didn’t care.

2018 | 064/365 | Big Easy Crawfish & PoBoys | Katy, Texas

For dinner, we went and got some delicious crawfish from Big Easy Crawfish & PoBoy. This used to be Captain Crawfish but I guess they sold the place and now they’re new owners.

Big Easy Crawfish & PoBoys | Katy, Texas | Crawfish, Corn, Potatoes, Sausage

Crawfish | $7/lb OR $20/3lbs • Corn | 2 for $1.50 • Potatoes | 2 for $1.00 • Sausage Link | $2/link

We picked up a to-go order of 9 lbs of crawfish, potato, corn, and sausage so that we could watch another Hong Kong movie, Wild Nights. The crawfish had great spice and it was definitely way bigger than anywhere that I’ve had the past few weeks! I guess crawfish season is officially here! We both agreed we’ll come back.

Blueberry Puffs

Fuzzy's Taco Shop | Plano, Texas | Hot Sauce Packets

The day started off with our ride back to Houston. 6 people, 4 dogs. It was tight, but we did alright. haha Cheesy.

Anyway, we stopped by Fuzzy’s Taco Shop for breakfast. They have some cute sauce packets.

Fuzzy's Taco Shop | Plano, Texas | Chicken, Potato, Ground Beef Tacos

And I loved that they labeled everything. Makes it easier to dole out the tacos. And they all tasted amazing.

Tasty Ko | Katy, Texas | Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbap, Haemul Udon Bokum, Soondubu Chigae

Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbap | $14.99 • Haemul Udon Bokum | $15.99 • Soondubu Chigae | $10.99

After a long ride and making stops to drop everyone off, June and I went to Tasty Ko for an early dinner. Everything was so delish.

Tasty Ko | Katy, Texas | Sugar Cane Drink

We were thinking about getting dessert somewhere else but was so happy to find out we got Sugar Cane Water at the end of our meal. Yum!

2018 | 063/365 | Beech-Nut Blueberry Cereal Puffs

[2018] 063/365: Being a Baby

I loved Emmy’s Blueberry & Sweet Potato Puffs so much that when June and I were at HEB, I picked this up. It’s not the same brand and it doesn’t contain sweet potatoes but it is still as delicious.

I would like the one Emmy had. Please ship some to me. Thanks.

Green Beans and 90th Oscars

We both took a nap and the rest of the night, we relaxed by cooking our own foods (mostly for tomorrow) and watching the Oscars.
