Busy Body

March 21, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

I had so much human interaction today, I felt like a busy body. Literally drained from it all but it was fun!

Pacific Coast Tacos | Sugar Land, Texas

This morning started with me cleaning the skimmer (pool filter) and Scruffy getting a call from his friend, Albert. He was in town and wanted to see if we were free for lunch so we headed to Scruffy’s recommendation of Pacific Coast Tacos.

Pacific Coast Tacos | Sugar Land, Texas | Salsa Bar

How cute is this Salsa Bar?! I made Scruffy get one of each so I could try it all. Habanero and Roasted Tomatillo was my favourite. Scruffy loved the Tomatillo. The real winner though was none of the above. It was from a bottle they bought, Trappey’s Hot Sauce Ghost Pepper. Albert went and asked where to buy it and they told us the Whole Foods next door. We went and couldn’t find it. I couldn’t find it online either so either they don’t sell it anymore or they just don’t want us to have any of our own.

Pacific Coast Tacos | Sugar Land, Texas | Grilled Fish, Fried Fish, Korean Beef, Bang Bang Shrimp, and PCT Originals

Grilled Fish [mango pineapple pico, purple cabbage, creamy jalapeno cilantro sauce] • Fried Fish [mixed cabbage, laguna sauce, chili sauce, cilantro] • Korean Beef [napa cabbage, cilantro, sliced radish, scallion, citrus soy, chili sauce] • Bang Bang Shrimp [tossed in PCT Bang-Bang sweet heat chili sauce, mixed cabbage, radish] • PCT Originals Killer Fries [cripsy twice fried Kennebec fries with house seasonings]

I can say with confidence that this place is better than Torchy’s Tacos. Go try it out. You will not be disappointed. My favourite was the Bang-Bang Shrimp. I’ve told Scruffy that if Jarro Cafe is too far away this will be our taco place. It’s THAT good.

2018 | 080/365 | Home Chef | Steak Au Poivre, Beef & Pepper Tamale Pie

[2018] 080/365:

Before we left our Home Chef delivery arrived. I’m so excited. I’ve always wanted to try one of these boxes type meals. We were in a rush so I wasn’t able to see their packaging fully until after lunch. We opted for the Steak Au Poivre and the Beef & Pepper Tamale Pie. I loved that the meats were at the bottom with some ice packs and divided where the rest of the ingredients were. Even those were packaged individually per meal. They had three ice packs total which can be reused, how amazing!

Home Chef Insulation

And look at their insulation system. I’m pretty sure it’s just a lot of recycled cloths but it’s so simple and smart.

We cannot wait to see how everything tastes!

Churchill's Sports Bar & Grill | Sugar Land, Texas

We met Saleh and Lacey at Churchill’s Sports Bar & Grill.

Churchill's Sports Bar & Grill | Sugar Land, Texas | Beer, Whiskey and Sprite

We threw back a few and had some stimulating conversations. It’s been a while since I’ve had those since I’m home all the time nowadays.

Churchill's Sports Bar & Grill | Sugar Land, Texas | Scruffy Playing Pool

The boys played a round of pool before we called it quits.

Salah's Chili

We all headed to Saleh’s house where Salah was making his chili. We laid it on a bed of Fritos and sprinkled on cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos. Though it isn’t as spicy as Scruffy’s chili, it was equally delicious. Salah even made an eggplant concoction and I was surprised Scruffy liked it!

We stopped by Andrew’s for a hang out session and are now getting ready to watch Scrubs or Game of Thrones, or whatever our hearts desire. The night is young …. right?

Door Dash To The Rescue

March 18, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2018 | 077/365 | Escalante's Door Dash

[2018] 077/365: A Tex-Mex Lunch

It’s been a lazy day but let’s be real, it’s been a lazy month! We’ve just been watching telly and stuffing our face. We ordered Escalante’s off Door Dash with our $20 credit. It was pretty nice having everything separated so that nothing got soggy but was also annoying having to put everything together.

Back to more telly. Goodnight y’all!

2018 | 076/365 | Clancy's Public House | Richmond, Texas | Green Beer

[2018] 076/365: Green Beer

We got our annual green beers. Last year we thought we could make our own and … it wasn’t the same.

2018 | 076/365 | Clancy's Public House | Richmond, Texas | Fried Calamari, Spinach Artichoke Dip, Fried Mushrooms

We ordered a table of unhealthy foods to celebrate. Yum! Fried mushrooms, fried calamari, and spinach and artichoke dip.

Steak Dinners

We had a healthier dinner of steak smothered with mushrooms and onions, grilled Brussels sprouts, and salad with homemade honey balsamic.

We are fully of food, kicking it back with beer and spiked sparking waters while watching episodes of LOVE on Netflix. Night!!

Ramble Creek Grill | Richmond, Texas

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II

The day started out at doctor’s office then Thai leftovers while watching Harry Potter #8, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. The last movie of the series. Scruffy made through it all.

Ramble Creek Grill | Richmond, Texas | Complimentary Nachos

Complimentary Nachos

Later that night we went to Ramble Creek Grill for dinner. The server was quite forgetful and the food did take a long time so we assumed it’s the reason they brought out these complimentary nachos. They were pretty delicious.

2018 | 075/365 | Ramble Creek Grill | Richmond, Texas | Award Winning Chili, The Rambler, Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich

Award Winning Chili [served with Texas toast or crackers] | $6.99 • The Rambler Burger [cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, and Rambler sauce] | $10.99 • Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich [steak, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions & provolone served on our bakery sub rolls] | $9.99

If you tell me what’s a good burger place, I’d probably pick this one though they do go a little heavy on the salt. Other than that, it’s always delicious and cooked right. The chili though, ain’t the best but was good enough for fries.

Right now, we’re just relaxing watching Netflix movies. Scruffy stops once in a while to play his games and I watch my Chinese soaps. Other than that, I’m ready to call it a night and get ready for St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow. Don’t worry though. We aren’t doing anything crazy.

Colsen Loves Spring Rolls

March 15, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Pho Saigon | Katy, Texas | Egg Rolls and Beef Vermicelli

I met up for lunch with Ann and Colsen at Pho Saigon. Yummy eggrolls and vermicelli.

2018 | 074/365 | Pho Saigon | Katy, Texas | Ann & Colsen

[2018] 074/365: I Love Spring Rolls!

Colsen has grown SO much! He is a chunk. He seems to be in the grabbing phase and really tried hard to grab that spring roll. I cannot wait to see him when he’s more animated.

Pet Supplies Plus | Katy, Texas | Moo Cheeks, Plaque Gel, St.Patrick's Yogurt Covered Cookies, Chicken "Bagels", Cheeze Crackers

I stopped by Pet Supplies Plus to see what they have. They just opened and it was huge! I loved that they have some baked goodies where you can buy as much as you want (or as little). Scruffy came over with Luna so her along with Rizzo and Rocky seem to love everything so far!!

Thai Cottage | Houston, Texas | Wings of Paradise & Curry Noodles

We got a to-go order from Thai Cottage. The usual wings were shared with the others. The curry noodles, on the other hand, will be a couple more meals until I’ll be able to finish. I love having leftovers!

Now, it’s Chinese soap operas and then early bedtime. Bye!
