Oba Japanese Cuisine | Sugar Land, Texas

2018 | 257/365 | Oba Japanese Cuisine | Sugar Land, Texas

[2018] 257/365: Oba Japanese Cuisine

Scruffy treated Jamie and I to dinner at Oba Japanese Cuisine. They have happy hour all day and was instructed to only order off that list. There were a lot of choices and soon enough we were full and happy.

They don’t have a license to sell alcohol yet so Scruffy ran next door for some sake.

Their salmon was killer though it’s nothing compared to Seattle. Regardless, it’s worth coming back soon.

Day of Deliciousness

The Pho Shack To-Go

Scruffy, Ashy and I went over to Gordon’s to check out his house. We were out there for over an hour and our sweat was beading. We finally went and dropped Ashy off and picked up The Pho Shack for lunch at Grandma’s and Kenny’s where Sissy and BIL met us.

Fulbrook Ale Works | Richmond, Texas

Afterward Scruffy and I picked up Rizzo and headed to Fulbrook Ale Works where Sissy and BIL were already waiting. This used to be Texian Brewery which got bought out. Thank goodness because it was nasty. These beers are so much better.

After using majority of our tokens we hauled ass back to Scruffy’s because we were sweating like no other at the place. We played some board games before bidding them farewell.

[2018] 209/365: Indian Vegetarian Buffet

Scruffy played video games while I opted for a nap before waking up to head to Maharaja Bhog for a vegetarian Indian buffet. We’ve never been here but I’ve always wanted to try this style since I was a kid seeing it on the telly.

It was a fun experience and we were surprised we both liked it. Now that we’ve tried everything there we know exactly what we liked and disliked which will make it easier for us in the future if we ever decide to come back.

We are back at his house now and he’ll most likely play some games with Blake while I shower, relax and watch my shows before bed.

Jollibee Experience Makes Me Wanting More

July 27, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Jollibee | Houston, Texas

Work was way too long because Noah and I had planned since the beginning of the week to get out of work early to have a meal at Jollibee!

Jollibee | Houston, Texas | Mascot

I don’t think anyone can understand just how excited I was to walk into this place. They have horrible reviews but mostly due to their service, having to wait for the chicken to fry.

I was mostly off the walls excited because during my whole college career, every Filipino person I knew that has had Jollibee praises it.

[2018] 208/365: Jollibee Happiness

  • Original and Spicy Fried Chicken – spicy is the way to go so I’m glad I got six of those as opposed to the two originals. They come with gravy to dip the cluckers. I don’t care for the gravy. Next time I come I’m getting a bucket of Spicy Fried Chicken (six piece for ten dollars) … for myself.
  • Spaghetti with Hot Dog Bits – I’m pretty sure there was only two little bits of hot dog in there. Pretty ridiculous. Super sugary.
  • Hot Dog – nothing too special. I make hot dogs better than this.
  • Mashed Potatoes – they are mashed potatoes. Nothing to rave about. Not enough gravy in it so glad I had the free side of gravy to add to it.
  • Pineapple Soda – I’m not a fan of pineapples but was floored but how much I didn’t hate it. I’m sure it’s filled with sugar too.
  • Halo-Halo – we weren’t too happy about this. I actually meant to order the taro or pandan drink but failed and got this but was still excited. There was way too much crushed ice that melded into a giant ball of ice and just didn’t hit the spot for us.

They’ve been opened for a while but I’ve never had a chance to go until today so we practically ordered everything off the menu. We have to come back for the rest another day but spicy fried chicken is a must!

Total Wine | Sugar Land, Texas | Free Wine Glasses

I dropped Noah off at home and headed to Scruffy’s. We went to the new Total Wine in Sugar Land and both won free wine glasses. I’m saving them for my new house (whenever that is).

We went to PetsMart next door to get Rizzo a new bed for his cage but couldn’t find any for his tiny crate so we headed back to his house.

Sunglass Hut | New Ray Bans

If I could make another picture, picture of the day, this would be it!

We had plans to go get me new sunglasses and a dinner as date night but Ashy convinced us to stay for dinner so we decided to get my sunglasses before dinner.

My sunglasses were crushed somehow and I needed new ones due to all the driving I do from home to work now. I made a quick decision and walked out with these beauties.

Fuzzy's Tacos | Sugar Land, Texas

Scruffy was craving tacos so we snuck to a pre dinner. He ordered two tacos, one for me, and a beerita to share.

Luna and Ball

We went back to his house and had about an hour and a half until dinner. Luna slept next to me when she realized I wasn’t going to throw the ball. So cute.

Ashy's Adas

Ashy’s Adas with some okra I brought back from Brenham. It was actually super delicious. Everything was great though I wish there was a spicy level to the adas. Regardless, it was a great decision to stay home for dinner.

Scruffy has been playing video games with Blake over the net and I am enjoying their conversations. Too funny. I’m about to fall asleep. Bye everyone!

Me, Myself, and Kindle

Wetzel Pretzel Jalapeno Dog

After work I ran MANY errands. I haven’t had so much time to myself in such a long time. But truthfully, once I’m out, I rather stay out because once I’m home, I never want to leave. I picked up a Wetzel Pretzel Jalapeno Dog once I got to the mall. I’ve always wanted to get one and eat it while I shopped and I finally did. Someone, please tell me where I can buy a bulk of that dog. It was SO juicy and delicious.

[2018] 194/365: Alone Time with My Kindle

After my errands and shopping, my stomach was ready for a full meal. It’s been a while since I sat down in a public place, ate and read a book because I’m all alone. I actually enjoy it a lot. I went through one and a half chapters. So so nice and I had a lot leftover, per usual when I eat pho.

Churrasco's | Sugar Land, Texas

Later in the evening, Scruffy and I went to Churrasco’s. He just got some dental work done so he had to opt for soup. Luckily his other side worked and he was able to chew on some of my meal and more. I have so much leftover as well. Now I have two meals to finish.

Tomorrow’s going to be a long day but I’m excited to see little Peyton!

Carb Overload

Corner Bakery | Houston, Texas | Farmer's Breakfast

Since it was Tuesday, no free breakfast, I went and grabbed my own at Corner Bakery. I was genuinely surprised that they didn’t put salt on the eggs which is a great plus for me. Funny story: one of the ladies at the place bought What-a-Burger and her manager made her put it in a Corner Bakery bag because it obviously looks bad to customers to see their own employees eating food from other places. But seriously? Who can eat the same thing every day?!

OG Tea | Sugar Land, Texas | Taro Smoothie

I went to Scruffy’s after work to start my July Fourth Festivities which is pretty much relaxing until tomorrow. I grabbed a Taro Smoothie from OG Tea when we went out to grab groceries for tomorrow.

2018 | 184/365 | Pasta Dinner

[2018] 184/365: Pasta Dinner

Saleh came over for dinner and we’re about to play Risk. It’s been awhile since I had a pasta dinner at Scruffy’s but the real winner on this plate? The Brussels sprouts. You know, those Green Giant bags you just pop into the microwave? The salt and pepper Brussels sprouts are my favourite. Everything else is covered in butter these days so it’s great to have a different flavour. Also, the garlic bread this time was fantastic. Not too certain what they did differently but I had two! .. Or maybe I was just starving.
