Brad Paisley at the Houston Rodeo

March 29, 2022 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Beth's Birthday | Mallory & Mellie Dee | Shogun | Katy, Texas

March 16th

We celebrated Beth’s birthday by going to Shogun for a show and dinner. Look at that crazy fire!

The food was SO good. But the service wasn’t great which is understandable with the shortage. I ordered a drink but only Mallory got hers. And it took forever for them to get us our bill. Overall, the experience was a good one. We even learned that in Chicago, fried rice doesn’t have corns or peas?

Houston Rodeo | Brad Paisley | Frankenstein, Mellie Dee, Mallory, John

March 19th

I finally got to see Brad Paisley live! And he played some of my favourite songs! It was a great night to remember and an even funnier moment where we got tickets standing tickets. Our view wasn’t THAT horrible, but we wouldn’t have made it or enjoyed the concert as much as we did if Mallory and John didn’t have to leave early and gave us their amazing seats.

We played a few games, won some stuffed animals and feasted on turkey leg, sausage, fried twinkie, fried cheesecake, fried snickers, twisted potato thing, chicken tenders kids meal, and pulled pork sundae (mashed potatoes).

We went on the last weekend of rodeo (big mistake) so the lines were busier than usual and felt like packed sardines walking around. We even lost cell service in certain spots because of the amount of people in one area. We still had fun though and am so thankful Frankenstein was willing to experience it with me.

Good Eats | Rizzo

I’ve been cooking at lot more. Getting back in the swing of things when it comes to meal prepping since I really do need to go back into the office at least once a week. I’ve been able to skirt around it since it’s not required.

I finally made it out to Angry Crab! Went to lunch one day with Rose and Kelly and it was DANG good. We all agree we needed to come back.

Rizzo’s just chilling in his blankets and sitting outside with me while I enjoy the nice weather. I am not ready for the heat.

Crochet Project | Rizzo | Zodiac Mountain Puzzle, Farmers Market Puzzle, Texas Puzzle, Garage Sale Puzzle

I’ve finished 4 puzzles this time around. Zodiac mountain, farmers market, Texas, and garage sale. I’ve also started on a bitty crochet project. I was in a meeting crocheting away and was wondering why my yarn wasn’t turning. This little booger was laying on it. Glad to know since what I’m crocheting will most likely be his to claw and lay on since it’s a practice project with this type of yarn. It’s SO soft!

2021 | Week 89 of Quarantine | I Love You, Rocky

2021 | Week 89 of Quarantine | Job Offer & Shang Chi

Started off the week getting my official offer letter. For those that did not know, our asset got sold awhile back and we had a timeline to find a job within the company else we’d be our of a job by the end of February. I was offered a role with the company we sold to but I declined due to it being in a different location. I’m lucky to have secured a role within the company. I’ve known for a couple of weeks prior and keeping it a secret was tough!

I continued to keep it a secret from my family and I’ll let you know why below. I secretly celebrated by getting the family to watch Shang Chi with me while I enjoyed my steak and potatoes dinner.

2021 | Week 89 of Quarantine | Proper Rose Garden | Katy, Texas | Beth & Mallory

I was suppose to donate blood but I started feeling sick and canceled the night before.

I did meet up with Beth and Mallory at Proper Rose Garden though. We ordered set where it comes with three tiers of goodies, tea, and a cake. We chose the matcha crepe cake. It didn’t taste up to par to what I’m use to so I’m sad about that. As for the tier, only the sandwiches were worth it. Everything else is for sure bought from the store. The tea was good though. The wings were the best out of everything.

I doubt I’d ever come back but if I do I’d order a la carte for sure.

2021 | Week 89 of Quarantine | Nails, Gloria's DoorDash, Beach Night and Day Puzzle

Later that night I felt so bad I ordered chicken soup from Gloria’s … among other things from DoorDash. And did my nails for Thanksgiving.

I finished my day and night beach puzzle. Just in time before the kids came to make my pieces go missing! They came Wednesday and Ethan helped me clean up. So nice of him.

2021 | Week 89 of Quarantine | Thanksgiving | Emmy & Ethan

Thursday was pretty chill. SIL offered to go on a Starbucks run so I was able to get the Medicine Ball to try. It really does help! I need to figure out how to do it myself since it’s expensive but so effective.

Brudda and SIL were out to hang out with her old friend. Sissy and BIL came over and we shopped and played bananagrams before starting to cook.

Dinner was served. Half Asian, half American. We finished eating in less than 30 mins. Our family is crazy.

We took the kids and pups on a walk and came back to play some games and eat pies. Very chill and nice family day.

2021 | Week 89 of Quarantine | Dim Sum | Mum, Brian, Tammy Birthday Celebration

Friday, we went to dim sum with our uncles and aunts, parents and SIL’s side of the family. Went home and napped. Then celebrated Mum’s birthday (along with Brudda’s and SIL’s). While we waited for our food from Katy Asian Town, they opened their presents. Gift cards from me, Sissy and BIL for Brudda and SIL.

Mum got nice lawn chairs from them and I opted for a card that had coupons that were already part of the card. I wrote that she could either redeem all those coupons or redeem $1000 to use toward a plane ticket to Hong Kong … Because I signed a job offer. There were stipulations of course, like she needed to have the card to redeem and that it expires by a certain time. She was so happy about the money she didn’t finish reading and screamed and gave me a hug. I got a second round after she read about me having a job offer.

We played a few rounds of Overcooked, had dinner and then I took a nap. After waking up, we had cookies and cake. They had been playing other video games, like Tetris so I did couple rounds of that as well before we all felt like poop and decided to call it a night.

2021 | Week 89 of Quarantine | Video Chat with Frankenstein & Artemis

Saturday morning Brudda, SIL and Emmy left leaving Ethan with us. Gordon and Patsy came over for dinner, mostly to see Rocky and play with Ethan.

I was suppose to go on my date with Frankenstein but told him the day before I had to cancel. Luckily he was down to do a video call even though I wasn’t able to until almost midnight. Maybe this time difference thing isn’t too bad after all. I also wonder if he cares what pictures I post of him. Haha

2021 | Week 89 of Quarantine | Goodbye Rocky | Mellie Dee

I woke up fairly late since I kept coughing while I tried to sleep. Apparently Rocky wasn’t doing too well so we took him to the ER and found out, other than his enlarged heart and arrhythmia, he had other issues like a tumor on his heart and spleen.

It was a tough decision but he’s not in pain anymore. And we were all able to drive to be with him. He had his last meal of bacon cheeseburgers. Ate it with so much joy.

I love you baby boy. I hope you’re running around with Krytpo and Major even though you were too alpha to play with them here. I’ll be sad when I turn around and you’re not laying in my room, scratching my doors to come in, automatically show up whenever I turn on my blow dryer, or sleeping in my room until I have fallen asleep for a while. You were such an obedient doggo. I’ll miss your sloppy, stinky kisses. <3

2021 | Week 85 of Quarantine | WWE Monday Night Raw

October 31, 2021 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2021 | Week 85 of Quarantine | Mallory & Mellie Dee | WWE Monday Night Raw

Started off the week celebrating Mallory’s birthday early by going to WWE Monday Night Raw. It’s been on my list since I was a kid watching it with Brudda.

The ladders and tables made the show the best. It does suck you don’t hear them talk if they don’t have a mic and you don’t hear the announcer either. And the sound effects of them getting slammed against the floor is fake and sometimes they forget to press the button.

But overall it was an experience and I wouldn’t mind going again.

2021 | Week 85 of Quarantine | PPDM Expo

I went to the second day of the PPDM Expo. I missed Monday’s because I was up all night for to stomach issues. FYI, I know.

But it was nice to see some with people again and listen to some presentations. The food was real good and can’t say no to free stuff.

2021 | Week 85 of Quarantine | Beth's Meatball and Spaghetti, Halloween Nails

Thursday after work I went over to Beth’s for dinner spaghetti and meatballs. I mostly went to pick up some nail stuff I bought (exhibit Halloween nails) and ended up taking to get and Scott for hours. Connor has grown so much and so smiley practically all the time.

2021 | Week 85 of Quarantine | Good Eats

Just since eats and drinks from the week. Tried it a new Mexican place and it was good. They even have Fideo but not as good as Patricia’s.

2021 | Week 85 of Quarantine | Loch Bar | Houston, Texas | Frankenstein & Mellie Dee

Saturday night, I met up with Frankenstein at Loch Bar. Or second time here and we went crazy and ordered a lot of stuff.

  • Bread – free, crispy exterior but super fluffy interior
  • 3 different kinds of oysters:
    • sweet petite (my favourite),
    • raspberry point (his favourite),
    • queen cup (server’s favourite haha)
  • Oysters Rockefeller – to much cheese. We both loved the raw better.
  • Chesapeake Crab Dip – worth it. They give you so many chunks of crab and you can trade the crab as of you were eating it right out of the shell. Love the carrots and celery to dip than the bread.
  • Rye Whiskey Flight – I believe it was the manager that came and gave us an extra whiskey, the Jefferson, to try. That ended up to be one of the favourites for the both of us as well as the Sagamore for me.
  • Seafood Diavalo Pasta – so good and they give you a great deal of seafood that isn’t all chopped up.

We watched the Astros game while we were there and since we were up, we decided to leave and walk around. We were in the River Oaks area so we walked around and looked through the windows pretty much laughing at the clothes.

I finally found the place that makes ice cream look like a rose. He asked if I wanted to get one but I was too full. Maybe next time.

we passed by an art gallery and joked about wanting a very expensive piece where the words make up people which is made from splotches of paint. It was so cool.

When I got home I found out Astros lost. Sigh, sad day but a great date night.

2021 | Week 85 of Quarantine | Sissy's Birthday

Today’s Sissy’s birthday. They landed from their trip and came over to pick up the pups and celebrate. We ordered food from Thai Cuisine and Ramen King, opened presents and ate Oreo cake. We then all spent time sitting outside and just talking.

It’s been a very quick and fun week filled with people with a lot of relaxation. I think I’m still trying to make up being out so late for the bachelorette that this weekend’s naps were amazing.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | San Francisco & Napa, California

October 24, 2021 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Dallas with Ethan, Doggie Puzzle, Vietnamese

Started off the week by finishing up my dog puzzle from weeks ago! Ethan helped by handing me pieces as I found their rightful spots.

Wednesday after work, we packed the car and drove off to Dallas. Ethan is SO good on long car rides. He didn’t sleep long but he also didn’t make a fuss. Sadly he did throw up milk which messed up my car but that’s baby life, right?

We ate pho for dinner and then Sammi wanted to stay up as late as possible so she chilled in my room while we talked about boys and life.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny's Bachelorette | Ethan, Sammi, Mellie Dee, Chick-fil-A, Dallas to San Francisco, Target

The next day, Thursday, Ethan and I had some quality time together before Sammi’s friend drove us to Chickfila and took us to the airport to start off Jenny’s Bachelorette Party. I thought it was cool they had a phone/tablet holder built into the seats now. After a couple of movies, we arrived. We were stuck on the plane for a LONG LONG time and we ended up in the departure area rather than the arrivals making Brudda have to drive all over the airport to find us.

We finally made it to the hotel, chilled for a bit before heading out to get some necessities from Target.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny's Bachelorette | Fang | San Francisco, California

We were all getting hungry and I was craving soup dumplings so I picked Fang for a light snack. From the pictures you can tell we don’t know what that means. Sadly, they don’t do soup dumplings anymore, but their food wasn’t bad! Their pork baos and eggplant vegetarian dumplings were the favourites for the masses.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny's Bachelorette | Mister Jiu's | San Francisco, California | Mellie Dee, Jenny, Rosanna, Tammy

We stopped by 7 Eleven for some breakfast foods we needed for the next day since we wouldn’t have time and then headed back to the hotel, got ready, relaxed, before the bridesmaids went with the bride to Mister Jiu’s for dinner. We took some picture3s on the street since we had some time to spare.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny's Bachelorette | Mister Jiu's | San Francisco, California | Food

The food was nothing to write about. It has one Michelin star but so far, none of the places I’ve been to that have Michelin star has been worth it. The food isn’t horrible, but it wasn’t amazing. The drinks on the other hand were bomb. Fan favourite was definitely the chow fun and oysters.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | Castello di Amorosa | Calistoga, California | Mellie Dee & Brudda

On Friday, we all woke up early and Brudda drove us all to Castello di Amorosa. It was a pretty fun drive there. We even stopped by Starbucks where I found it funny that Brudda wanted a cake pop.

The wine from Castello di Amorosa was okay. Nothing popped out to being fantastic so the thought of shipping some home as gifts was dropped. I think people mostly come here to take pictures of the castle. We paid for one hour of wine tasting and one hour of picture taking around the castle. If you ever come here, even if you don’t drink, you have to pay the same amount but don’t ever do the grape juice tasting. If you don’t drink, just don’t come to this place. It costs the same as a wine tasting but they don’t even serve you the amount that would be worth it. They only got 3 tiny pours of the same exact grape juice which we had to ask for every time. They sell a bottle of grape juice for $14 so definitely not worth it; the flavour is great though.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | V. Sattui Winery | St. Helena, California | Mellie Dee & Rosanna

After taking enough pictures, we headed off to V. Sattui Winery for a picnic lunch. You walk in and order from the deli counter and you can buy a bottle of wine if you so choose but no tastings here so you’re not obligated to pay even if you’re not a drinker. We got a little of almost everything and everything tasted amazing. Lot of choices for every type of diet.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | Son & Garden | San Francisco, California | Food

We got back to the hotel, took naps, then the bridesmaids and bride met up with MLam and Rachel at Son & Garden. The bone marrow and duck confit was the favoruite for me. The lobster bisque was good too. You can actually taste the lobster in the soup unlike other places.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | Son & Garden | San Francisco, California | Mellie Dee, Tammy, Jenny, Rosanna, Rachel, MLam

We then took pictures at their flower wall before heading out. I was feeling myself hence some selfies because I couldn’t choose. Don’t judge.

We walked for forever to a bar where you pay $10 for Jenny to spin the wheel for a drink. After she got her drink Rosanna and I went back to the hotel to get started on getting ready for the night. Tammy and Jenny came after and we just talked about how unsafe we all felt while walking to the bar: needles on the ground, guy pissing, pee smells, and hobos just all about screaming their heads off. Yikes.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | Surisan | San Francisco, California | Mellie Dee, Tammy, Jenny, Rosanna, MLam, Vi, Sammi, Tram, MyTien

Saturday, we wore the tshirts I made with wine puns to brunch at Surisan. If you’re ever in town, come here. You won’t regret it! I suggest the benedicts, fried wings, and their Iced Strawbertty Matcha Latte.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | Umbrella Alley | San Francisco, California

We then walked to Umbrella Alley to take pictures. It was super cute.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | Jenny & Tammy | Boba Guys | Decorating

We headed back to the hotel to decorate for later tonight and order Boba Guys as well.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | AsiaSF | San Francisco, California

Then it was off to Asia SF. The food was better than I expected but not somewhere I’d come back to for the food, especially for the cost.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | AsiaSF | San Francisco, California | Mellie Dee & Jenny

Their show as fun though. And made me feel like, dang they are so confident I’m starting to feel it too. Afterwards we went downstairs to their night club and danced for a bit.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | Lingerie Party | Mellie Dee & Jenny

Then it was to the hotel for the lingerie party which turned into crazy drinking by all of Le’s cousins, Jenny, Tammy, and Sammi.

Let’s just say, some threw up, some passed out, and we got two calls of multiple, multiple complaints about the noise.

2021 | Week 84 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bachelorette | San Francisco to Dallas | Jenny & Mellie Dee | Goldilocks Filipino

Brudda drove me, Jenny, and Rosanna to the airport at 4am after we only slept for a couple of hours. Jenny got me some siu mai from Goldilocks Flipino at the airport since I didn’t get my soup dumplings. Not the same but still delicious. I watched so many episodes of Maid while Jenny slept through the flight.

The Le came to pick us up and I packed the car and drove back to Houston with Mum and Dad. I am pooped to say the least. And this week is suppose to be a little crazy in the beginning of the week. Eeek, save me.

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine

August 29, 2021 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine | Nails, Croissant Sandwich, Mickey and Minnie in Hawaii Puzzle

Work week went by pretty fast since I took a half day Thursday and Friday off.

i think this pink is my favourite colour from Color Street. And with the added dots, it reminds me of strawberry ice cream with sprinkles.

Made a delicious croissant sandwich and finished the Mickey and Minnie in Hawaii puzzle. I actually don’t know if it’s Hawaii but it sounded color than “on a beach”.

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine | Starbucks, Artemis, 3D Printed Vase & Flowers from Frankenstein

Thursday, after my half day, I stopped by Starbucks for a pick me up and then headed to Frankenstein’s. I brought one of my carriers over so that Artemis can use it on her future vet trips.

I noticed a vase with flowers that felt kind of out of place since he never really has flowers indoors. They were for me! I had so many emotions because this man 3D printed me a vase! And bought flowers to put in it. The design is pretty cool and Mum wants one now.

Those that know me know I don’t love flowers because they die, but it doesn’t mean that the guesture isn’t nice. I was speechless.

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine | Star Wars Puzzle, Supernatural, and Artemis

He bought a 2000 Star Wars puzzle before we meet for work but everyone have up on it so he brought it back. I asked him to break up what was done so I will have the satisfaction of saying I did it all. He sat with me for a while to complete the sides and he doesn’t even like puzzles! Then we took a nap but after 10 minutes I went to answer some emails and continued puzzling while watching Supernatural. Artemis say up high watching my every move.

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine | Prohibition 52 | Kemah, Texas | Frankenstein

After a couple of hours Frankenstein woke up and we decided to head to dinner at Prohibition 52. His choice and it was perfect. We sat on the balcony and had a good few hours off conversation over drinks and food. We laughed at how we ended up with three different types of potatoes.

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine | Peanut Butter Production Plant Volunteer | The Astros Foundation

Friday morning, I volunteered at the Peanut Butter Production Plant for the Houston Astros Foundation. It was kinda fun to see how they do it and to be able to take home one as well. There was a moment where they were backed up due to the label maker malfunctioning and it was pretty cool to see everyone working together.

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine | District 7 | Houston, Texas | Erin, John, Angie

Afterwards, I met up with Erin, John and Angie at District 7 for lunch. I shared some oysters with them and scarfed down my paella. We talked about work and family mostly. It was nice to see old coworkers and joke about everything and anything.

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine | Rouxpour | Katy, Texas | Priscilla & Mellie Dee

Later that night I met up with Priscilla. I hadn’t seen her since end of 2019 (we believe). We were suppose to go to a different restaurant but the estimated time was almost two hours so we decided to go to Rouxpour. We ordered 3 dozen oysters and some sides and caught up on EVERYTHING. It’s nice being able to just pick back up where we last went off.

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine | Kings's Bierhaus | Houston, Texas | Erin, John

Saturday, I met up with Erin and John one last time for lunch at King’s Bierhaus. We had conversations about non-work things over beers, schnitzel and weiners. I had the best Grapefruit Radler ever and now I think I am a Radler lover! It sucks they don’t live in Houston anymore but I am thankful we are still able to catch up.

2021 | Week 76 of Quarantine | Truly Peach Tea, June's Birthday, Thaicoon, Ethan & Escape

Later that night, Brudda, SIL, Emmy and Ethan came into town. We celebrated June’s birthday early over Thaicoon and played a game of Escape that Sissy and BIL brought over.

It’s been harder and harder to see each other like this so I cherish it always.

The whole Sunday was dedicated to pleasing Ethan after his family left. He’s staying with us for a little bit and I’m already tired.
