2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Jenny & Le Wedding

November 21, 2021 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Gma's Birthday, Jollibee, Macaroni Soup

Started off the week with celebrating Gma’s birthday by having a family dinner at Gordon’s. Then the rest of the week was Jollibee and homemade soup because the weather was so nice!

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Taste of Texas with NOV Team + Award

Thursday, I met the NOV team for our last lunch together at The Taste of Texas. I ordered a $98 porterhouse steak and was not disappointed. I even got a dessert served in a boot that I got to keep! We were awarded with a tiny drop of oil inside a Texas shaped figurine which was nice as we don’t really get stuff like that. It was a great lunch with one of the best managers I’ve ever had a pleasure of working with even though I was not directly under him, nor worked with him long.

Earlier that day, I had gone to Starbucks to get a free reusable Christmas cup and for the first time, able to snag a couple of boxes of instant peppermint mocha lattes. I can never find them!

After I got back from lunch, which ended almost three hours later, we drove to Dallas to start Jenny and Le’s wedding festivities. We were given Thai food for dinner and started the movie The Rescue. The movie was so long, we had to cut it short and head to bed!

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Jenny & Le Wedding | Tea Ceremony | Emmy, Mellie Dee, Ethan

Friday morning, we got ready and headed off to Jenny’s parent’s house to kick off the wedding festivities. Tea Ceremony consisted of bridesmaids playing games with the groomsmen. We ended up making them shots of random sauces we found mixed together and Mary decided adding Bicardi to them would make it better. Too funny. Then Le had to eat half of a chocolate crepe with one of them before singing and dancing to a Backstreet Boys song of his choice. Then they were allowed in and the rest was history.

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Kyodai | Ethan, Jenny, Sammi

Later that night, Brudda, SIL, and I met up with Jenny and Sammi at Kyodai for some handrolls. Loved the fresh wasabi and practically ate the rest of everyone elses.

Then we went home and finished The Rescue. Ethan watched the end of the movie with us and wouldn’t take his eyes off the screen. The day before Emmy ran away scared because of the fire scenes. This boy surprises us every day.

When everyone went to bed, Jenny and I had hours of conversations, eating pickle chips on the early morning of her wedding day. Sammi came home from hanging out with Le and the cousins and friends on both sides and they decided it was a great idea to be blow drying their hair at 1:30am. Then sleeps.

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Ethan & Rizzo

Saturday morning, I spent some time with Ethan and Rizzo. He loves when Rizzo sits next to him and loves giving him kisses. So sweet.

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Jenny & Le Wedding | Getting Ready | Mellie Dee, Mary, Rosanna, SIL, Deana

Once Jenny’s mum showed up at the house, we headed to the venue, The Rosemary Barn, and met up with the rest of the bridesmaids. We opened our gifts and changed into the silk pajamas and took silly pictures. We had our rehearsal with just the girls and Rich was nice enough to pick up some Raising Cane’s for us so that we could nibble while getting our hair and makeup done.

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Jenny & Le Wedding | Decor

I was able to snap these pictures while waiting in line to walk down the aisle.

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Jenny & Le Wedding

Their first dance with everyone watching and their last dance with no one around. The smiles and laughs especially when it was just them was so sweet.

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Jenny & Le Wedding | Mellie Dee, Emmy, Ethan, Sammi, Mary, Rosanna

Just some pictures with some peoples.

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Jenny & Le Wedding | Food

And just some foods. I had bridesmaid duties and when I got back, my food was taken away. Sad day. But luckily, SIL was down to get some In n Out before calling it a night.

We were going to go out to their after party but it was so late and we were both pooped by the time Jenny and Le decided to leave to the party.

2021 | Week 88 of Quarantine | Sweet Hut, Dairy Queen

Waking up late the next day, Sissy and BIL were nice enough to pick up some goodies for us to eat from Sweet Hut. We hung out a bit and went home. The drive was so long with so many on the road that we stopped by Dairy Queen and McDonald’s for goodies to wake us up.

We did the bare minimum of cleaning up and have been lounging around and relaxing. Half day of work tomorrow and then a whole lot of nothing. I am pumped for some whole lot of nothings.

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Texas Renaissance Festival & Cirque du Soleil Alegria

November 14, 2021 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Cottage Mountain Puzzle | Maria's Going Away Lunch at Hungry's

Started off the week by finishing up a cottage mountain puzzle. I’m running out but luckily Target had a buy two get one free sale!

On Thursday, we had a going away lunch at Hungry’s for Maria. It was the first time seeing them since we started working from home, other than Christopher. It was nice to talk face to face again though.

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Work Holiday & Farewell Party | The Tasting Room | Houston, Texas

Friday was our work’s Holiday and Farewell party for everyone since starting December first, our asset is sold off to a different company. I got a job offer from them but did not accept as it was in Midland. Hoping I find something within the company but if not, I know I’ll be okay, wherever I land.

We enjoyed finger foods and many drinks before we called it a day. I tried leaving and was stuck in conversations.

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Amy | Barcelona Restaurant and Lounge | Houston, Texas

Luckily Amy was amazing and was okay with skipping day plans we made so that I could attend my work party. She also showed up at the hotel earlier than expected and I ended up being way later than expected. We had a glassblowing class scheduled but due to furnace problems, they cancelled a day early. If not, I would have been late!

We caught up a bit, and decided to have dinner at Barcelona Restaurant and Lounge. We’ve been spoiled by Toro in San Antonio, so this wasn’t super up to par, but wasn’t horrible. We then went back to the hotel and hung out until we passed out.

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Amy | Texas Renaissance Festival | Todd Mission, Texas | Mellie Dee

Saturday morning, we went off to the Texas Renaissance Festival. It was her first time and it was definitely a lot to take in for a newcomer. I haven’t been in years and it has grew a lot since then. We walked around the whole time and watching some men fight and joust. All fun and exciting to see how into it everyone was. Since we had to reschedule our glassblowing event to another day, she had fun watching the lady demonstrate glassblowing and is now more excited than ever for when our class comes around in the future. She was like a kid in a candy shop. Precious.

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Amy | Whistle Stop Tea Room | Tomball, Texas

We had a quick lunch at Whistle Stop Tea Room. Everything was delicious. My favourite was the pasta salad and their broccoli and cheese soup. Amy liked their tortilla soup. I would love to come back.

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Amy | Galaxy Nail and Spa | Tomball, Texas | Jade Siam Thai Massage Therapy | Magnolia, Texas

We went back to the hotel so that Amy could change into sweats for our pedicure at Galaxy Nail Spa. Afterward, we drove close to our massage place, Jade Siam Thai Massage Therapy. We walked around TJ Maxx where we came out with goodies before heading to get our muscles worked on. It was her first time getting stretched during a massage and my first time getting stepped on in the US (I’ve had a legit Thai massage in Thailand). We came out refreshed.

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Amy | Mikado | Magnolia, Texas

We feasted on habachi and sushi at Mikado. It hit the spot. She mentioned loving to eat with me because I order so much. I, on the other hand, need to learn to order less. But surprisingly, we didn’t have a lot left over.

It was back to the hotel to relax and sleep.

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Amy | Sleek Creperie & Cafe | Cypress, Texas

This morning, we woke up, drove our separate cars to Sleek Creperie & Cafe. We both got our own savory crepe and lattes, and shared a sweet one together. Thank goodness because that sweet crepe was bigger than our faces! They also sell chocolates and gelato. I want to come back and try those out as well.

We said our goodbyes and headed home.

It’s not rare that people drive to my world but what’s rare is that they make time for me when they end up by me. To this day, Amy is one of the easiest people to travel with. We literally had no plans other than glassblowing, which got rescheduled, and the Texas Renaissance Festival. We ended up filling our time up with things by just talking. Ever since I introduced her to reflexology on our California trip, it’s become a thing for us to incorporate massages into our trips – like Liliana and I with massages and facials. These chill trips with Amy makes me feel so refreshed after. Sigh, cannot wait for our next one!

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Cirque du Soleil Alegria | Beth & Mallory

I went home and took an amazing nap before heading to Mallory’s. We picked up Beth and headed to Sam Houston Race Park to see my (and Mallory’s) first Cirque du Soleil Alegria. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was way better than that. Mallory drank coffee hoping to stay away prior, but I don’t think anyone needs assistance in staying awake. They keep you pulled in with fire, flips, air swings, and more. The live musical performance was so beautiful with the addition to the performance made me tear up on many occasions. I am now wanting to attend ALL of them because it was just that fun! Thank you, Beth, for getting us early tickets for such wonderfulness!

2021 | Week 87 of Quarantine | Frankenstein | Jinya | Katy, Texas

I had a late dinner date with Frankenstein at Jinya. He was nice enough to drive all the way to me since I had such a busy night. We sat outside for his big bowl of ramen and my kids meal that came with SO much variety of food. We paid and continued talking to the point where it started to get cold. We fought the chill until it was way past their closing time and a waiter had to go around all the tables and practically kick us out.

This whole entire weekend has been filled with memorable moments and getting to end it seeing him was icing on the cake! This coming week will be crazy and tiring. Bring it on. I’m (kinda) ready for you.

2021 | Week 80 of Quarantine | Jenny’s Bridal Shower

September 26, 2021 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2021 | Week 80 of Quarantine | Beagle Puzzle, Nails, Sushi Block Legos

Work week was pretty easy since our company got some crazy news. I was able to do my nails, finish the Beagle puzzle and built the sushi block Lego that Frankenstein and I won from Kura.

2021 | Week 80 of Quarantine | Poor Richard's Cafe | Frankenstein | Lomonte's Italian Restaurant | Houston, Texas

Frankenstein was off Thursday so we were able to have a romantic date night at Lomonte’s. The weather was nice out so we sat on the deck listening to the live music performance and talked about so many different topics. We both got a chicken dish that came with a side of pasta. The food was pretty good and the ambience of the area reminded us of Austin.

2021 | Week 80 of Quarantine | Poor Richard's Cafe | Road trip To Dallas | Rosanna's Birthday, Ethan, Rizzo, Mellie Dee, June & Emmy | Bols Rice and Ramen

Friday after work, we drove to Dallas. Upon arriving, we celebrated Rosanna’s birthday, ate dinner from Bols Rice and Ramen and played with Emmy. I was pooped after.

2021 | Week 80 of Quarantine | Poor Richard's Cafe | Plano, Texas | Emmy & Mellie Dee Storytime

Saturday morning I took the parents, June and the kids to Poor Richard’s Cafe for breakfast. This is our first time and we all ended up liking it. The kids even ate a lot which was surprising … for Emmy.

I drove them all around to run some errands for Jenny’s Bridal Shower and then went back to the house where I read Emmy some stories before we all took a nap.

2021 | Week 80 of Quarantine | Jenny's Bridal Shower

We went and picked up the cake and headed to the clubhouse to set up for Jenny’s Bridal Shower. We took pictures, ate, and played some games. Oh and shots were had. Good times all around. And it was like a mini reunion. Next up, bachelorette!

2021 | Week 80 of Quarantine | BBQ Chicken and Happy Lemon

We got home and showered before SIL and I went to pick up dinner of BBQ Chicken and Happy Lemon. Korean fried chicken always hits the spot!

2021 | Week 80 of Quarantine | Bucees Keto Eggs, Stardew, Salmon Sushi Rice

We left for home super early. I am running on 2 hours of sleep today! Had breakfast of keto sausage egg and cheese from Bucees on the way. Then it was grocery shopping. After everything settled down, I got online and played some Stardew Valley with Sissy and BIL then made dinner of salmon sushi rice.

Back to work tomorrow but luckily it’s my Friday off. Last free weekend before Ethan comes back down again. What should I do? Sleep sounds nice.

2021 | Week 78 of Quarantine

September 12, 2021 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2021 | Week 78 of Quarantine | Breakfast for Blood Donation, Sushihana, Stardew Valley

Labour Day was pretty swell except when I tried to donate, I was off by one on my iron and couldn’t donate. I had a killer breakfast though.

Sissy and BIL came over and we ordered Sushihana. They played with Ethan for a bit before he went down for his nap. Then we spent a few hours playing Stardew Valley. They’ve been playing for years and have asked me to join their game. This could be a single player game, kind of like Animal Crossing, but it’s not one I would ever play by myself.

2021 | Week 78 of Quarantine | Ethan, Mellie Dee, Rizzo

Having Ethan is fun but it’s also super draining. He needs more attention than Emmy at this age which is CRAZY to even think about. He’s had fun eating popcorn, watching Mickey Mouse, listening to me play guitar and sing to him. He doesn’t understand personal space and always lays on people jumping up and down. As for Rizzo, I’m sure he’s tired of the nonstop crying and constant slaps in his face from Ethan. Rizzo also doesn’t understand personal space.

2021 | Week 78 of Quarantine | Ethan, Jacob, Mellie Dee, JJ, Wine, Maika'i Hawaiian BBQ

Friday after work, I took Ethan to Mallory’s house for a playdate. He and Jacob get along SO well! And JJ was a sweetheart and played with him as well. We had wine and ordered dinner from Maika’i Hawaiian BBQ. We all loved the food from there, especially Ethan and Jacob. They are definitely the eaters of the kids.

2021 | Week 78 of Quarantine | Ethan, Jacob, Mellie Dee, JJ, Mallory, Ice Cream

We decided to walk to the clubhouse and get some ice creams. JJ pushed Ethan for me and I was able to get some cute pictures. (Exhibit A: Ethan’s hair)

The guy messed up and accidentally made an extra ice cream. Sugar overload. It’s safe to say Ethan had fun. He was so tired on the push back to the house and fell asleep with the bottle in his mouth.

2021 | Week 78 of Quarantine | Lao Sze Chuan | Katy, Texas

I had heard recently about a restaurant that opened that came from Chicago, Lao Sze Chuan. The food was good. Nothing special except that it’s less salty which we all loved. My favourite is the fried intestines. Even Ethan did well and sat and ate a lot!

The only complaint was the service. Understandable as there is a shortage everywhere but they could be a little more attentive.

2021 | Week 78 of Quarantine | Kittens and Golden Puzzles, Stardew Valley

I finished three puzzles this week which I didn’t even know until I put this post together. Almost done with the kitten and dog 10 pack from when we were kids and we never did.

Yesterday night I played Stardew Valley with Sissy and BIL for many hours before we called it a night.

2021 | Week 78 of Quarantine | Ethan & Emmy Video, Zoe's Kitchen Delivery

Ethan was able to get some video in with Emmy. It was sweet to hear Emmy say that he misses Ethan.

Sissy and BIL came over. We ordered food from Zoe’s Kitchen then it was playtime with Ethan and Stardew Valley with me. I’m starting to like the game a lot but still, not something I’d play by myself. I hate building things.

2021 | Week 78 of Quarantine | Rocky and SWEAT: High Intensity Program Complete

Today marks the completion of the 4 week SWEAT High Intensity program. Rizzo was by my side every day. Rocky liked being close by my yoga mat on days I had body weights. I don’t feel like much has changed but I do feel stronger. Off to schedule my next workouts. What should I do now?

2021 | Week 75 of Quarantine

2021 | Week 75 of Quarantine | Disney Princess, Mickey and Minnie in Paris, Snow White Puzzle, Rizzo, Nails

This week has been puzzle heavy. That happens when your mind runs nonstop and work has been stressful.

I did redo my nails and loving them! Walked Rizzo and got suffocated by him as well. Love him so much.

2021 | Week 75 of Quarantine | Annual Doctor Checkup, Mellie Dee

Friday morning, I sent to my annual checkup. This one is better than the one I went to in the past. All passed but need to work to be better! I got my tetanus shot as well.

2021 | Week 75 of Quarantine | Mikoto Sushi | Houston, Texas

Since my results were good, I went to Mikoto for thier all you can eat lunch. Little fish eggs are me favourite.

2021 | Week 75 of Quarantine | Seafood Boil

Later that night June bought us snow crabs and we made a seafood boil. So so good. I’m getting great at making the boil sauce. Just need to make it even less salty.

2021 | Week 75 of Quarantine | Brass Tacks | Houston, Texas | Sissy

Saturday morning I went to Brass Tacks with Sissy. We brought our laptops to work on stuff to get it of the house. It was nice getting to do that again.

Iced Latte and iced Taro Latte was delicious. They serve food too but we opted out. They also have all their plants for sale which is pretty nice. I do suggest showing up early so you don’t have to fight for parking.

2021 | Week 75 of Quarantine | Houston Restaurant Week | Oporto | Houston, Texas | Sissy & BIL

After over the hours we picked up BIL and headed to Oporto for lunch.

We ordered Eve’s Envy, Maracuja Caipirinha, and Blueberry Caipirinha. They messed up one and accidentally gave us a Caipirinha Clàssico. I took a sip of mine but wasn’t a fan so I have mine to BIL. They loved these drinks.

BIL and I decided on Bruxelas, Batatas a Murro, Cataplana Mussels, Seafood Curry, and Bife à Portugesa. My favourite were both types of potatoes and the mussels.

Sissy decided to order off their Houston Restaurant Week Menu: Petiscos Plate, Mushroom Tartine.

My favourite tapas place is still San Antonio’s Toro. If anyone has any suggestions for Houston please let me know!

2021 | Week 75 of Quarantine | Good Eats

This week was filled with other good eats. Most notable is a new Indian place! Amar Indian Cuisine. Best so far near us.

The weekend is already over. I’m not 100% sure what I’ve done but it has definitely been a relaxing one.
