Beating the Traffic

March 28, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Kim's Teahouse | Katy, Texas

This morning Joanna, Jasmine, and Katie came over to play with Rocky and Rizzo. After they left, I decided to head to Kim’s Tea house for lunch and I brought along my laptop to work on some coding exercises while chowing down.

[2018] 087/365: Pho Goodness

I’m currently at Sissy and BIL’s, spending the night since I have things to do in the morning and it feels good not having to sit in traffic.

It took us a good hour to figure out where we were going to order food from then another hour for it to be delivered so at the end it was the best pho I had in forever. Obviously, everyone knows that there are better places but we make do.

Sleepy bed time. Night, y’all!

Colsen Loves Spring Rolls

Pho Saigon | Katy, Texas | Egg Rolls and Beef Vermicelli

I met up for lunch with Ann and Colsen at Pho Saigon. Yummy eggrolls and vermicelli.

[2018] 074/365: I Love Spring Rolls!

Colsen has grown SO much! He is a chunk. He seems to be in the grabbing phase and really tried hard to grab that spring roll. I cannot wait to see him when he’s more animated.

Pet Supplies Plus | Katy, Texas | Moo Cheeks, Plaque Gel, St.Patrick's Yogurt Covered Cookies, Chicken "Bagels", Cheeze Crackers

I stopped by Pet Supplies Plus to see what they have. They just opened and it was huge! I loved that they have some baked goodies where you can buy as much as you want (or as little). Scruffy came over with Luna so her along with Rizzo and Rocky seem to love everything so far!!

Thai Cottage | Houston, Texas | Wings of Paradise & Curry Noodles

We got a to-go order from Thai Cottage. The usual wings were shared with the others. The curry noodles, on the other hand, will be a couple more meals until I’ll be able to finish. I love having leftovers!

Now, it’s Chinese soap operas and then early bedtime. Bye!

Harry Potter Marathon Continues

2018 | 070/365 | Crown Seafood, Houston, Texas | Dim Sum

[2018] 070/365: Dim Sum with Ex-Co’s

Sissy and BIL left and Scruffy and I headed over to Crown Seafood for dim sum with my old co-workers and their boyfriends, Juhi and Vijay, Erin and John.

85 Degree Celsius Bakery | Sugar Land, Texas | Vanilla Cake, Egg Tart, Cheese Tart, Milk Tea

Afterward, Scruffy dropped me off to pick up some goodies from 85 Degrees Celsius Bakery.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Then we proceeded to finish Harry Potter #3, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Then, Harry Potter #4, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

He then went off to play some video games while I organized my photos and watched Will & Grace.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

After a few hours, he asked if I wanted to watch Game of Thrones or more HP. I was surprised when he was okay with Harry Potter #5, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. He’s a trooper.

I wonder if we’ll be getting to anymore tonight or he’ll call it quits until another day.

I’m enjoying this because we rarely watch movies together!

Sissy and Significant Other Day

March 10, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

HEB Crawfish and Shrimp Boil with Corn and Potatoes

Sissy, BIL, and their pups came over and we went and each got our own lunches. Scruffy and I ended up with crawfish/shrimp boil but I ended up eating most of it.

We sat around, talking and watching telly then played games like Istanbul and Munchkin.

Cafe Caspian | Houston, Texas | Bread abd Herbs, Dolman Leaves, Hummus

Soon, it was time for our reservations at Cafe Caspian. We started off with bread and herb platter ordering dolman leaves and hummus.

2018 | 069/365 | Cafe Caspian | Houston, Texas | Lamb Shank

[2018] 069/365: Best Lamb Shanks

I was pretty much stuffed when our entrees came out. My always favourite here is lamb shanks. I have so much left over that I am excited to have it for dinner tomorrow.

Cafe Caspian | Houston, Texas | Vegetarian Ghormeh Sabzi

Sissy tried something new and wished that there was more flavour. I assured her the flavour probably came from the meats they cook it with.

Cafe Caspian | Houston, Texas | Saultani

Scruffy got something different and although it was delicious, he said he’ll stick with the Koobideh.

Cafe Caspian | Houston, Texas | Koobideh with Sweet Saffron Rice

BIL got something he’s never had and ended up liking it! He even ordered the Sweet Saffron rice and it tasted like dessert to me.

Right now, we’re back to playing games. I’m falling into a food coma. Save me!

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas

March 7, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas

Scruffy and I started out with lunch at Café Rabelais. I love this part of town but can never live here with the busy traffic.

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas | Bread & Butter

Bread & Butter | FREE

The butter was too hard and the bread was TOO toasted. I had fun eating the soft parts and dipping it into our next dish.

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas | Escargot

Escargot | $8

Super buttery and garlicky. We loved this dish and the fact we could dip SO much bread in it. Always a bummer that places only give you six. Never enough!

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas | Bone Marrow with Toasted Bread

Bone Marrow [with toasted bread] | $12

We wanted the foie gras but since they didn’t have that for the lunch menu we ended up getting the bone marrow which wasn’t bad at all. Definitely better than the ones we got in Lake Charles. Scruffy’s only complaint was that the toasted bread was buttered and with bone marrow’s buttery-ness, it’s too much. Other than that we both loved it.

Café Rabelais | Houston, Texas | Roasted Cauliflower

Roasted Cauliflower | $8

I wanted to get something healthier, not so buttery and since they didn’t have the Brussels sprouts, I got this. It wasn’t the best but still delicious.

2018 | 066/365 | BBQ Night

[2018] 066/365: Homemade BBQ Meal By Scruffy & I

We went and hung out with Caitlin and Peyton a bit and I even got Peyton to fall asleep. Either I’m boring or I am good. haha

Since Andrew was coming over again, Scruffy put the ribs in the smoker and I went to the store to pick up some things for the sides. Everything came out well though Scruffy will say otherwise.

Rizzo, Luna, Smokey Chewing Dentals and Bone Marrow

Caitlin was nice enough to supply the puppies with bone marrows and a dental so Rizzo got the dental while Luna and Smokey both chewed on bone marrows. So messy but the pups enjoyed it!

Right now we are all watching telly and relaxing after a great meal. I’m ready for bed.
