Happy Hour at High & Dry

January 17, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Work has been getting harder and harder. I can’t seem to get a break. And feelings of suffocation is happening.

I left work later than planned, rushed home to let the pups out then headed to BIL’s to drop off the PS4. Jason came and was surprised at all the boxes and bags and even tape that still worked after so many years. He said it was like unwrapping a whole new PS4!

High & Dry | Houston, Texas | Old Fashioned & Love Street

Even though it was horrible at work, I was happy I got to be at happy hour with my old co-workers.

Salim dropped off his car at Sissy’s and we took an Uber to High and Dry. He was nice enough to get me a drink since I paid for the ride.

Priscilla and I had to take a selfie of course!

Then one with all the boys, Salim, Aaron, John and Gilbert. The crowd was crazy and after throwing a few back we headed to eat.

Christian's Tailgate | Houston, Texas | Priscilla, Gilbert, Salim, Aaron, John

I hadn’t eaten since seven the previous night so I guess you could say I was having a dang good time. We ordered a whole table of food and had a great time talking, laughing, and singing along with the 90s music that was playing at Christian’s Tailgate.

We bid our farewells to Priscilla and then after a while, Salim called an Uber and we were out the door. A quick ride back to our cars where we said good night. I headed home since this week has been tough and my bed is calling my name. He, on the other hand, is still out partying. I joked he was going to a booty call.

Tomorrow is hopefully a full day of fun and entertainment. Can’t wait! Eek!

Goodbye, PS4

January 11, 2020 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Goodbye PS4

Factory resetting my PS4 to sell. I haven’t used it since Scruffy and I broke up. I remember buying a new car and a PS4 when I knew I was going to get laid off soon which I wrote about in a post.

I told everyone it was to spend more time with BIL and sometimes Sissy but it was truthfully so that I can spend time with Scruffy. I knew he played a lot of video games so I wanted to spend time with him doing something he loved.

In the beginning, we’d play a bit but it ended up just me usually playing by myself or using it to watch telly since he wasn’t super interested in playing with me no matter how much I asked him to pick a game we can both play. I guess sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can never be a part of someone’s life if they won’t let you in completely.

Goodbye, PS4. You gave me some great memories. Maybe one day, I’ll have someone who’ll want to play PS5 with me. Until then, it’s me and my Switch.

Working from Home | Rizzo & 2020 Goals

Yesterday I had the pleasure of working from home. Rizzo’s head is so tiny next to that giant paper of goals. I’m starting to feel like the assistant to the boss. I mean, I love scheduling meetings and running them, okay that’s a lie, I hate meetings. But I don’t mind the work as it helps me be a stronger speaker but it’s all so nervewracking when everyone thinks you’re “in charge” when you shouldn’t be. Luckily the boss set them straight that I was tasked so whatever I said kinda goes.

Rizzo Inching Towards My Side of the Bed

I’d look over to this sleeping beauty who put himself under the blanket, head on the pillow. I also kept seeing him slowly inching towards my side of the bed. He looks so peaceful. I keep having thoughts of how I’d be if he was gone from my life. Does anyone else get those moments with their pets or kids? Is that weird?

Happy Lamb Hot Pot | Houston, Texas | Sissy, BIL, Dad, & June

Today, June, Dad and I met Sissy and BIL at Happy Lamb Hot Pot. June and I have sworn off eating anything else the rest of the day because even though we didn’t eat a whole lot, it was still way more than what we’re used to lately.

The weekend’s almost over. I’m not ready!

Q1 2020 Team Away Day

Q1 2020 Team Away Day | Snacks

I ran the first team away day of the year. I was nervous, flubbed a lot, but overall it went well. It’s also the reason I’ve been MIA this week. I’ve been working hard to put everything together and I’m glad everyone had a great time.

Q1 2020 Team Away Day | BATL Houston Heights

After our discussion on our 2020 goals, we headed to BATL Houston Heights for some axe throwing.

Q1 2020 Team Away Day | BATL Houston Heights | Food

We ordered burgers and pizza for lunch along with two alcoholic beverages. The food comes from next door while the drinks are there at the place which is pretty convenient. The pizza was great though I heard the burgers were meh.

Q1 2020 Team Away Day | BATL Houston Heights | Mellie Dee Axe Throwing

I got to throw big and small axes but overall I sucked horribly. Not so horrible that I was last place though!

I got to make shirts for everyone for this axe throwing event. I’m glad they turned out great and even the people who printed the shirts were surprised at how well and clean the design came out! So … I guess I do shirts that can be sent to the printers now. Hit me up!

Jacob in Bouncer

We left early and some went to happy hour. I went over to Mallory’s and came in seeing this bundle in his bouncer. He was a happy baby the whole time I was there!

Cafe Del Sol | Katy, Texas

we ordered food from Cafe Del Sol and got Door Dash to deliver. Their food is pretty delicious.

Mallory and I watched a few episodes of Dynasty before I left. And now it’s relaxing and then working from home tomorrow. Yippie!

Jollibee with Noah & Joel

Jollibee | Houston, Texas | Noah & Joel

I finally met up with Noah & Joel today for a super late lunch at Jollibee. It’s been a long time since I’ve been and it’s easily become Noah and I’s go-to place when we can’t figure something out.

Still delicious as ever and bought a lot of extras so my family can have some. They were in love as well. I wish they’d make one closer to Katy so I can get it more often. But then again, it’s probably a good idea that they don’t.

I finally got my ski pants back from Joel after a year later and Noah finally gave me my pottery that we did together half a year ago. It’s crazy how much time has passed but it doesn’t feel any different. I’m hoping I can hold on to this friendship because I love watching them grow up!

Afterward, I ran some errands and went home for a guitar jam session before Katie, John, Joanna, Katrina, Jasmine, and Timothy came over for dinner. They mostly came over to play with the pups. They’re still a bit afraid but hopefully as they get older, they won’t be scared of them.

Godiva Dark Chocolate Ganache Heart | Marriage Superstition

One of Mum’s coworker’s daughter got married and there’s an old Chinese superstition where you eat the offering and you can be next. Mum joked I should eat some but little does she know, I’ll probably eat the whole damn bag because they’re actually one of my favourites. It makes me laugh that a couple of hearts and Chinese word makes it “blessed”.

Soul Food and Makeup

Yo Mama's Soul Food | Houston, Texas

Priscilla and I finally had our catch up today! I went to pick her up from her work and we went to Yo Mama’s Soul Food Restaurant. I haven’t seen her in months so it was nice to catch up with everything. And I mean everything. It’s crazy how much can change in just a few months.

Yo Mama's Soul Food | Houston, Texas | Meat Loaf, Pork Chop, Oxtail, Green Beans, Cabbage, Mac & Cheese, Sweet Potato, Cornbread

The food wasn’t what we expected. We thought it’d be better but it just didn’t meet our expectations. I felt the sides tasted better overall and she didn’t feel the sides were great. Luckily we went next door to the Mexican mart and got some chicharrones to make up for it.

After dropping her off, I braved the malls all by myself to do returns. It’s crazy how many people go to the malls the day after Christmas! I was even able to buy a pair of heels for work which I am super excited about!

Full Face of Makeup

I was cleaning out my makeup and started playing with it. This is a full face of makeup and I’m surprised how lightweight my foundation is. It’s also probably the reddest lips I’ve ever had and I don’t think I’m a fan so that’s definitely going in the trash. I need help putting on lips because you can see the unevenness and the lip gloss on the edge of my lips. HAHA And my brows, don’t get me started on my brows.

Time to wash it all off and take a shower and relax.

P.S. I need more of these pajamas. They are SO freaking comfy.
