April 1st

Mallory and Leah had plans to see Eli Young Band and ended up with free tickets and invited me to join. We met up with Leah and Wes at Gringos for dinner before heading to Wildcatters. He played a lot of newer songs but us oldies wanted the .. oldies. It was still fun though and loved the open space concert location.

Frankenstein and I had a video chat afterwards to pin down transportation for our upcoming trip. I cannot wait for our adventure!

Double Date | Frankenstein, Sebastian, & Paige | Harold's & Jeni's | Houston, Texas

April 2nd

Frankenstein and I had a double date with Sebastian and Paige. Our significant others meeting for the first time! We met at Harold’s for dinner and nonstop conversation. The food is as I remember from Houston Restaurant Week. It’s okay but not good for the cost. We headed to Jeni’s for ice cream afterwards and when I walked in, I almost choked on the sweetness. The ice cream was very delicious though and I loved that they give you a tiny wedge of waffle cone.

It’s crazy how Sebastian and I were only acquaintances in high school and only saw each other years and years later on a mutual friend’s television show. Now we are friends meeting each other’s people.

April 5th

I finally went back to work! And they were giving out free ice creams. Two days a week isn’t too bad. People are draining though. I haven’t napped since I worked from home on weekdays but I definitely did the two days I worked in the office. Sigh. My eczema got worse too but not 100% sure if it’s due to that. But I’ll do anything to blame being back.

I also made the laziest enchiladas ever. You can’t really call it that so I’ll call them enchilada bowls. I also had good eats from Shogun and Local Table. Not pictured: Thaicoon.

Chelsea & Mellie Dee | Mike's Seafood | Houston, Texas

April 8th

I finally had lunch with Chelsea! We’ve been wanting to do a one on one in so long but life keeps hitting us. It was amazing seeing her and catching up from family, friends and work.

We met at Mike’s Seafood on Hwy 6 and each got Platter A (snowcrab, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, potato’s, corn). The flavour was good but Yummy still wins out. But there’s a sauce served here called Mike’s sauce that won out. That paired with Yummy Seafood will definitely hit the spot.

I ordered a dozen oysters and she ordered boudin balls. The oysters were mostly huge. There were a few tiny ones which was a bummer. She was not a fan of her boudin balls and didn’t even eat them.

I bought new makeup to play with since the ones I had were old and needed replacing. I am also continually on a hunt to find makeup that is easy to travel with where it isn’t super bulky. I think I’ve found some winners! It didn’t come out horrible but it still needs help. Is anyone a pro? Help?

I’ve been taking Rizzo on walks and a new section of the park opened up. It’s my new favourite way since there’s way less foot traffic so I get more peace. Rizzo is still a trooper even with the giant nose bump.

Frankenstein and Artemis made it in here because I missed their faces and got this cute shot back. Cannot wait to see them this weekend!

March 16th

We celebrated Beth’s birthday by going to Shogun for a show and dinner. Look at that crazy fire!

The food was SO good. But the service wasn’t great which is understandable with the shortage. I ordered a drink but only Mallory got hers. And it took forever for them to get us our bill. Overall, the experience was a good one. We even learned that in Chicago, fried rice doesn’t have corns or peas?

March 19th

I finally got to see Brad Paisley live! And he played some of my favourite songs! It was a great night to remember and an even funnier moment where we got tickets standing tickets. Our view wasn’t THAT horrible, but we wouldn’t have made it or enjoyed the concert as much as we did if Mallory and John didn’t have to leave early and gave us their amazing seats.

We played a few games, won some stuffed animals and feasted on turkey leg, sausage, fried twinkie, fried cheesecake, fried snickers, twisted potato thing, chicken tenders kids meal, and pulled pork sundae (mashed potatoes).

We went on the last weekend of rodeo (big mistake) so the lines were busier than usual and felt like packed sardines walking around. We even lost cell service in certain spots because of the amount of people in one area. We still had fun though and am so thankful Frankenstein was willing to experience it with me.

I’ve been cooking at lot more. Getting back in the swing of things when it comes to meal prepping since I really do need to go back into the office at least once a week. I’ve been able to skirt around it since it’s not required.

I finally made it out to Angry Crab! Went to lunch one day with Rose and Kelly and it was DANG good. We all agree we needed to come back.

Rizzo’s just chilling in his blankets and sitting outside with me while I enjoy the nice weather. I am not ready for the heat.

I’ve finished 4 puzzles this time around. Zodiac mountain, farmers market, Texas, and garage sale. I’ve also started on a bitty crochet project. I was in a meeting crocheting away and was wondering why my yarn wasn’t turning. This little booger was laying on it. Glad to know since what I’m crocheting will most likely be his to claw and lay on since it’s a practice project with this type of yarn. It’s SO soft!

Priscilla and I made plans to see Luke Bryan in less than a five-minute text conversation. My most spontaneous “yes” and it was an amazing experience. Note to self: Make more spontaneous choices.

They had some great garlic cheese fries that’s a must eat!

We ate some delicious rodeo foods and sat in the freezing cold to catch up about life before the concert. He’s always been on my list of people to see and I’m glad I can check it off my list. He forgot lyrics to “Crash My Party” and it was adorable.

Emmy turned two years old on March 6th and we had her birthday party on the 2nd. Brudda went all out with the decorations and I assisted with the curtains which came out looking pretty great. She had a great time and was a trooper with all the pictures.

John had free tickets to see Old Dominon at the rodeo. He got to invite a friend, Trey, and Mallory got to invite a friend, me. It was freezing cold out and so after while we called it quits and went into the stadium.

Also, I’m so glad I’ve gotten to wear my cowboy boots. Scruffy’s cousin was able to give us a discount and I always dreamed of wearing them to the rodeo and my wish came true.

Tim McGraw looks great for his age and it made my heart melt when he ran all around the stadium floor to give everyone high fives. Much love for him and it shows how much he truly loves his fans.

Priscilla was nice enough to invite me over to her house for dinner when I was having an emotional breakdown. She cooked some delicious fish and veggies while I got to play with her youngest who was in love with me. We watched Instant Family and I cried throughout the whole movie because some of it resonated with me.

Leah drove down to go to the rodeo with us and introduced us to Cheetos Popcorn. I’ve seen it but never ventured to get it and my goodness. We couldn’t stop eating it. Someone, please tell me how we can make our own! Luckily, having the popcorn took my mind off of the rodeo because … poor animals.

Kane Brown concert hit hard. I cried at almost all his songs because it reminded me of Scruffy. And when his wife jumped on stage to hug him and kiss him my heart hurt even more. They are so adorable together. So much love! Also, he was presented with a 4k Platinum plaque for his song, Heaven! Congratulations!

Juhi came back from London on Friday and wanted to go to the rodeo. She didn’t care for a concert and just wanted to have carnival foods and see mutton busting. Sadly, mutton busting didn’t happen. This was a spontaneous “yes” and I had a great time!

John and Erin were available and we all walked around the whole entire place and ate so much food. I finally got to go to the Wine area! We got a bottle of wine and sat and talked life.

Juhi really wanted to play games and growing up, I’ve never really got to do that and win stuffed animals so I was down to do so. I’ve always wanted a date to the rodeo to do cutesy stuff like that. I understand I could just go and buy a stuffed animal but it’s not the same as winning one. I like to obtain memories more than anything.

I won a boy llama and she won a girl one. We were both TOO happy about it.

We had a welcome back lunch for Juhi at Luchi & Joey’s. It’s not the best but it wasn’t the worst. It was nice to catch up with old coworkers as well and now I’m invited to their crawfish boil next weekend. I’m excited!

Speaking of crawfish, Erin, Juhi, Chris and I went to The Boil House for some delicious crawfish. This is cajun style and the flavour was on point but I still love my garlic butter crawfish. Will I come back? Yes, if I was in the area.

We got alcohol and went back to Erin’s for a Nintendo Switch party. We played Smash and the verdict is that we are pretty horrible at it. We went on with Mario Party and I got first place! We also played a couple rounds of Overcooked and I feel like that’s when friendships end. haha

Life just hit all at once and my bottled up emotions all exploded everywhere. With it all, I still tried to live my best life and enjoyed the company I was surrounded by. Thankful for all of them.

Babies, Events, and Christmas

It’s been a long while since I’ve last updated. Life took hold yet again and I don’t regret it at all! Sometimes you just gotta live so here are some highlights of the past couple months.

I had two blogging opportunities that I keep forgetting to recap. The Tasting Room at City Centre (with Apurva) and Diamonds & Desserts (with Sissy).

I had fun at both and found my promise ring, engagement ring, and wedding ring at Robbins Brothers. Just kidding, I am not the type of girl that fantasized over getting married and I highly doubt these will be the ones. Nonetheless, it was fun to try them on and spend time with Sissy.

Broseph and SIL finally announced to the world about their pregnancy and Sissy and I threw a family baby shower. I will be Auntie to a little baby girl in February!

Mallory and John welcomed their bundle of joy this year. Look at that face!! I cannot wait to see him grow up!

Speaking of babies, Wacko and Monica’s little Emma is to be born any day now! Eeep! So excited. So many babies!!

I tried Indian food for the first time since I last almost threw up and … I survived and even ended up liking it more than I thought I would. It takes a while for the food to make but it’s worth it and we’ve been back a second time since then.

I’ve never truly made Scruffy a full meal since other people were always around and I was afraid of the critique. I found an opportunity one week and voila! He told me it tasted really good so … I’ll take his word for it.

Scruffy’s favourite band, Rebelution, played at the White Oak Music Hall which was a whole new experience for me. You could definitely feel the love of music that night.

Scruffy, Jamie, and Ashy accompanied me to Via Colori. Artwork was done with chalk on a sidewalk. It has always been on my list of things to check out so I’m happy that I was able to finally go. These people are hella talented!

I was able to attend Scruffy’s work Christmas party at Backstreet Cafe. This has always been on Apurva and I’s list of places to hit but never had a chance to. The food is pretty good but it’s not a place that I will crave to go back to.

Christmas this year was super busy. On the 23rd, Scruffy’s intermediate family met up for food, white elephant, and saran wrap ball game. On the 24th, we drove up to Dallas for my immediate family for some all you can eat Korean BBQ, gift opening, games, dinner, and baby room reveal before driving back down. On the 25th, Scruffy’s immediate family had breakfast and gift opening in the morning, and at night, my intermediate family had dinner and gift opening. We are both all Christmas’d out!

We also went to Colorado for a weekend getaway but I’ll do a recap in the next post.

Ron Pope Concert

You would think a four day work week wouldn’t take a toll on me but what lies. I was lucky to see this on one of those days I worked late which made it more bearable. And I was blessed with a fantastic weekend filled with friends and full conversations.

Friday, after work, Sammy and I went and got drinks. I needed to de-stress so he agreed to hang out with me. Probably out of pity. He’s one of the people who would understand my work woes to an extent.

After a session of random talks with Sammy, I went home and got ready for Ed to pick me up. There was a French Festival going on downtown and Lesley had invited him. He extended it to me since we decided we would hang out during the weekend. We listened to live bands, two of which came from France and the other from Houston, and we ate some French foods. We were able to catch up with old friends and even met new ones. I felt one of the guys I met was trying too hard to impress me. I never really know when someone is interested in me but I did that night by the way he spoke and Ed confirmed it on our drive home. Step back, bro, I just wanna be friends.

I went back to Ed’s house where I quickly caught up with his parents before heading upstairs to discuss show biz. But we somehow ended up talking about personal crap we’ve been dealing with.

Saturday morning was a trip to the optometrist and I must say, oy vey. Indecisiveness killed me. I needed new glasses and somehow ended up with some granny looking ones. Hopefully, once I get use to them they won’t be so bad but … ugh. I’ll probably get them Wednesday so we’ll see how they really look then.

I finally had the chance to meet one of the people who inspires me to write music … not that I’m any good. When he sings in a room with just his vocals and guitar, no mic, it’ll blow you away. Such a powerful voice with so much feeling. I teared up when he was doing some acoustic versions. So much love at that moment. I still love his older stuff than the new stuff but regardless, he’s an amazing poet.

I finally got to meet sweet Lily, Nicole’s six-month-old daughter. After a short hang out with Lily, Kevin took her home for a father-daughter date while the girls and I went to brunch at Dish Society to catch up on what has been going on. It’s been forever since the four of us have been together. I’ll always cherish these moments.

This little stink face ran away from home. Or at least, that’s what normal people call it. In my head, he was either wanting more play time or he was looking for me. While I was at lunch, Sissy texts me and asked if I took him with me because they couldn’t find him but I hadn’t taken him. We each thought the other was joking until a quick phone call cleared everything up. Sissy took one last go by opening the front door, and out comes the little rascal from underneath her car, panting heavily, shaking, and super dirty. They’re not sure how long he was out there and where he went to get that dirty but his little peanut brain knew where home was so that was a relief.
