2021 | Week 64 of Quarantine

June 6, 2021 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2021 | Week 64 of Quarantine | Ethan & Mellie Dee Matching Rockets Shirts

Memorial Monday equaled Ethan and I accidentally both wearing Rockets shirts. We took some impromptu selfies together while he chowed down on some sauceless/brothless macaroni.

2021 | Week 64 of Quarantine | 8th Wonder | Houston, Texas | Friends Reunion | Sissy, BIL, June, Sarah, Jacky, Timothy

June and I picked up Timothy and headed over to Sissy and BIL’s house where we then walked to 8th Wonder and met up with Sarah and Jacky. We drank some beers, picked up Rodeo Goat and ate that at the brewery as well before heading back to Sissy and BIL’s house to watch the Friends Reunion.

It was nice getting to do it with them and remember all the memories with it.

2021 | Week 64 of Quarantine | Ethan, Mellie Dee, Rizzo

The rest of the week was filled with Ethan screams and Rizzo cuddles. Ethan left with Dad Friday morning and the house has been super quiet. Two weeks until I get to see him again. Which means another round of stranger danger until he feels safe with me again. Sigh.

2021 | Week 64 of Quarantine | Sushihana Door Dash | Mellie Dee & Ethan | Dad's Birthday

We celebrated Dad’s birthday on Thursday, the actual day before they left. Ordered him Sushihana and blew out the candles of cheesecake and mousse cake. Ethan didn’t like his dinner but was all for cheesecake. Silly.

2021 | Week 64 of Quarantine | Whiskey Cake | Katy, Texas | Mallory, Beth

Later that night, I met up with Mallory and Beth along with their friend Michelle at Whiskey Cake. I had a whiskey flight which was much better than I thought. Their devil eggs and chef’s board was a hit. I would say the brussels and grits were subpar though. Great conversations and great company.

2021 | Week 64 of Quarantine | Cruella, Jacob, Snow Cones

Friday, after work, I went over to Mallory’s to do my laundry since our washer broke and will take a while for a new one to arrive. We tried to start Cruella while Jacob high fived us. We didn’t get far but I did chow down on the free salad that she gave me since I hadn’t eaten all day. We went and got Snow Cones with Beth before heading over to pick up JJ from her mum’s. I got to see her parents and her grandparents, aunt, and cousin. It’s been a long time so it was great to see their faces and catch up.

2021 | Week 64 of Quarantine | Farmers Market & Tahicoon | Katy, Texas

Saturday, Mum, June, and I went to the Katy’s Farmers Market. Not a lot of vendors but it was still fun to check stuff out. We then had lunch at Thaicoon. Highly recommend. Great big portions and delicious.

We went to Costco after and I finally got my Melona Ice Cream that I’ve been craving after trying it at Gordon’s and Patsy’s. YUM!

We watched Cruella and I highly recommend it. So much twist and turns. Great acting from everyone. It’s been a while since something surprised me.

2021 | Week 64 of Quarantine | Frankenstein | Cooking Date Chicken Spaghetti and Roasted Asparagus

Today, I drove over to Frankenstein’s and we looked at cookbooks he had, deciding on Chicken Spaghetti. We went to HEB to pick up the ingredients then went back and made it. He says it’s kind of like what he grew up eating, plus or minus a few ingredients. I’ve been craving pasta so it hit the spot. And for anyone that knows me, knows I need to have a little more greens so he agreed and roasted me asparagus. We watched an episode of Money Explained (Student Loans) and it resonated a bit so we were able to talk about it. Then he showed me and explained to me about South Padre’s SpaceX which was pretty interesting.

I’m ready for my four day work week.

Astros vs Nationals World Series at 8th Wonder Brewery

October 29, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2019 Astros vs Nationals World Series | 8th Wonder Brewery

While we were at work, Timothy texted and asked where we were watching the game. In less than 30 minutes we decided to venture to 8th Wonder Brewery to watch with Sissy, BIL, and Sarah. Luckily Timothy was nice enough to drive so that I could take a nap in the car.

2019 Astros vs Nationals World Series | 8th Wonder Brewery | Beers and Eastie Boy Food

We ordered beers and food from Eastie Boy food truck. They had a deal going on where if you order a Wonder Burger you get one token for beer. I didn’t use them all but saving it for next time.

The atmosphere is definitely different here than watching at home. But sadly we left before the last inning. I guess I’ll be seeing them tomorrow. We’ve dubbed Sarah bad luck and she won’t be joining us tomorrow. Jokes but … not.

2019 Summer Trip | Day 3

August 2, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Tim Horton's | Meadville, Pennsylvania

Liliana and I got to sleep in before getting ready. We stopped and had breakfast at Tim Horton’s. They give out such good coupon deals so the meal was fairly cheap.

We stopped by Daniel’s hospital to drop off his food and coffee before heading out for our day.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Chateau Christine | Meadville, Pennsylvania

As promised we started at Chateau Christine’s to check out her 80% deals. We got such great goodies!

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Vera Bradley Backpack from Liliana

This Vera Bradley backpack was 50% off! Liliana saw it and had to get it and I fell in love with it as well especially since my work backpack I brought with me was falling apart at the seams. I went online to see if they had more since they were out of stock at the store.

As we left the place and was driving to our next destination, Lily surprised me with the backpack. My heart … I feel so loved. Thank you, Lily!! I love it a million and cannot wait to use it for the first time in Ohio! This backpack is huge and cute and waterproof!! I also love that it isn’t a crazy pattern like usual Vera Bradley things.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Conneaut Cellars Winery | Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania

We stopped by Conneaut Cellars Winery. Doesn’t Lily look adorable with her new umbrella? They’ve won so many medals throughout the years. It was pretty overwhelming.

They give out six complementary samples per person and you get to pick any six on their list. If you wanted the fancier ones you had to pay $2 for the first and $1 for every one after that. It was worth it to get the whole experience. If you buy one of those special bottles they waive the fee which was pretty cool. We just ended up buying the Merlot instead and called it a day.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Pineapple Eddie Southern Bistro | Erie, Pennsylvania
Chicken Poblano Soup with Cornbread Muffins; Shrimp and Grits; Pork Belly and Grits

A late lunch at Pineapple Eddie’s Southern Bistro was a big hit! We loved everything we tried. I’m not a fan of cornbread and I was in love mostly because it wasn’t dry. This place is a must try. Don’t miss out! P.S. It seems to be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | The Shops at the Colony | Erie, Pennsylvania

We walked for hours at The Shops at the Colony. They had many little shops with cute things. I will say that I’m surprised I haven’t bought as much as I thought I would this trip but it’s probably to early to tell.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | The Original Popcorn House | Erie, Pennsylvania

One of my favourite purchase is from The Original Popcorn House. Lily bought three bags and I bought two and I’m excited to take it with us on the ride to Ohio. Good road trip snack.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Wal-Mart Crane Game Winner, Liliana

We went back to the house to drop our stuff off before heading to Wal-Mart for groceries. Liliana made a go at the crane game and actually won something for Daniel!

I volunteered to make dinner and we were having a guest over, Stephen, one of Daniel’s coworkers. I’m already a nervous wreck when I cook for others because I’m afraid they’ll hate it so having a whole new stranger try my cooking was nerve-wracking.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Homemade Dinner by Mellie Dee
Appetizer: Guacamole, Salsa, and Chips | Entree: Crunchwrap | Dessert: Sopapillas with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Nutella Drizzle

I was surprised but everyone loved it! And even said that they can’t ever go back to Taco Bell anymore. I’m sure they were joking but it made me feel better. Daniel was nice enough to assist with the dessert since I’m not good at using their stove. I was the head chef giving orders as he executed them. I’m happy with how everything came out.

Once I’m back home, I’ll give the recipe for the crunchwrap. Oh, and did I mention Jack Daniel’s has their own Jack and Coke bottled? How crazy … Crazy cool!

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Voodoo Brewery | Meadville, Pennsylvania

We headed to Voodoo Brewery since it’s been on my list. Stephen had already dranked part of his drink so he wasn’t allowed to put it into the picture. They had mostly IPAs but it wasn’t too bad.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Biker Festival | Meadville, Pennsylvania

They decided they wanted a bucket drink so we went through then Biker Festival crowd. There was a live band playing a lot of 90s music. I had fun twirling on the street in the nice weather.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Chestnut Street Pub & Grill | Meadville, Pennsylvania | Bucket Drinks | Liliana, Daniel, Stephen

The three got their bucket drinks from Chestnut Street Pub and Grill. I was done with sugar so I didn’t want my own. I did take a sip of Lily’s and it reminded me of a Skittle. Very delicious but I was also very full to put anything else in my belly.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Matching Bows and Blue and White Dresses | Liliana and Mellie Dee

This morning when we took food to Daniel at the hospital he took our pictures. Then he took another one later at night. Can you spot the similarities and difference between us?

We both have matching bow hair clips that we got from the railroad visit yesterday. It’s made out of wood and we just HAD to have them. We also didn’t know we’d both be wearing blue and white dresses and loved that we somewhat matched. Lily is also wearing her new pineapple shoes in the picture on the right so she fully matched to my blue shoes and our outfits were complete.

2019 Summer Trip Day 3 | Tops | Meadville, Pennsylvania | Scratch Offs

We hung out on the street while they chugged their drinks. Then we walked to Tops, a grocery store, so that I could buy lotto tickets. Stephen got Grumpy Cat ones and ended up winning $15 on the $4 he spent on the cards. Daniel and Lily spent money on the crane but didn’t end up winning. I’m saving my tickets for the ride tomorrow.

I had to call it a day since I was getting tired and we have a busy day tomorrow. Eeek! I cannot wait!!

2019 Marble Falls | Day 2

May 18, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Patrica and I didn’t really want to get out of bed but we forced ourselves to shower and get ready for our pretty jam packed day.

Numinous Coffee Roaster | Marble Falls, Texas

We headed to Numinous Coffee Roasters for a morning caffeine fix.

Numinous Coffee Roaster | Marble Falls, Texas | Coffee, Latte, Danish, and Bailey's

She got a normal coffee and a Danish and I opted for a latte. I brought along some Bailey’s to pour into and it was perfect.

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas

We started our twenty minute drive to Opie’s BBQ in Spicewood, Texas.

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas | All the Meats

They had a plethora of meats for you to view and choose from!

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas | Brisket, Jalapeno Sausage, Tater Tots Casserole, Green Beans, Spicy Creamed Corn, Butter Beans, Pinto Beans

We got the fatty brisket, jalapeno sausage, green beans, spicy creamed corn and tater tot casserole. The pinto beans and butter beans were free along with the condiments.

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas | Mellie Dee & Patricia

We had a hard time deciding what to try first! I obviously went with the green beans and she with the brisket.

Opie's BBQ | Spicewood, Texas | Jalapeno Sausage Casing

My favourite was the jalapeno sausage. The casing was just right! I love eating the insides ad then the casing last so it was perfect! Everything else was too salty and I feel bloated now.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas

We headed to Spicewood Vineyard afterward.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Patricia Wine Barrel

They have these cute barrel chairs and I made Patricia model in them.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Mellie Dee & Patricia

We decided and shared the Estate Grown Tasting Menu that came with seven different tastings. Also … Why is my eye so funky? Haha

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Grapevines

I wanted to get a good shot with the Grapevines in the back but if you can tell, the rock the glass is on is darker because I spilled a bit of my wine when I tried to balance it. Fail.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Waterfall

I found a cute little stream that did better for my glass balancing.

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Pokemon

We relaxed, listening to the stream flow and the wind blow while catching Pokemons and battling at the gym. I won!

Spicewood Vineyards | Spicewood, Texas | Cows

As we were leaving we saw cows in the middle of the road so I jumped out and took some pictures. I’ve never seen cow poop until today and man are they HUGE!

Main Street Shopping | Marble Falls, Texas

We drove back to Marble Falls and went on Main Street for some shopping.

Main Street Shopping | Marble Falls, Texas | Gelato & Souvenirs

Patricia got a gelato while I did some souvenir shopping. Ghost pepper pickles for Dad, uncured bacon jam for BIL, pumpkin and turtle and owl decoration for Mum, and a little Rizzo for myself.

Main Street Shopping | Marble Falls, Texas | Percussion Instruments

We bumped into a percussion instrument playground! I wonder if anyone ever actually comes and makes music together.

Bear King Brewing Co | Marble Falls, Texas

We made a stop at Bear King Brewery Co since I haven’t been to a brewery in a long time and it was on my list of places to take him at the time.

Bear King Brewing Co | Marble Falls, Texas | Beer Flight

They had some IPAs on the board but I decided on ones I’d love more. The heffenwizen is my favourite over the porter which I was very surprised about. Since I didn’t have a significant other to help share, I had to force myself to down them all even though I was full to the brim!

Hotel by the Lake in Marble Falls, Texas

We headed back to the hotel to relax a bit where I watched an episode of Westworld. Our hotel is near the lake which is nice but we weren’t lucky to have a room with a view.

Rae's Bar & Grill | Marble Falls, Texas

Soon enough we were out the door to Rae’s Bar & Grill to meet up with Patricia’s friend, Nancy.

Rae's Bar & Grill | Marble Falls, Texas | Steak Dinner, Spicy Mac & Cheese

Patricia and I both got steaks and shared a side of Mac and cheese while Nancy ordered a burger. I’ve been craving steak so it was perfect!

We are currently sitting at Rae’s still listening to people sing karaoke. There are actually a lot of people here so I guess it’s the thing to do on a Saturday night here.

Eureka Heights

October 20, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

2018| 293/365 | Eureka Heights Brewery

[2018] 293/365: Eureka Heights Brewery

I’m so happy and grateful to spend time with Emmy before we left to Scruffy’s with the pups. We went to Sissy and BIL’s to pick them up to Eureka Heights Brewery. We played a couple rounds of Grizzled board game and chilled for a bit.

Rodeo Goat | Houston, Texas

After drinking we dropped off the car by the house and walked to Rodeo Goat for a late lunch. Scruffy and I headed back to the house aiming to have dinner with his family but I am so full that I am still not able to eat anything!

We watched Game Night which is actually a pretty funny and thought out movie. I really liked the end during the credits. Now to relax before bed.
