Leeland House | Houston, Texas

August 11, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Leeland House | Houston, Texas

This morning Scruffy and I woke up for some brunching with Sissy and BIL at the Leeland House. I rarely get to brunch so I was super excited to hear that they were okay it wasn’t tacos.

Leeland House | Houston, Texas | Shrimp & Grits, Brisket Hash, Bloody Mary

Scruffy and I got the Shrimp and Grits and Brisket Hash with a Bloody Mary. I could do without the Bloody Mary but the dishes were ON POINT. I scarfed down the grits in record time. I know they butter it up to make it so great but I didn’t care.

Leeland House | Houston, Texas | Sweet Potato Hash & Big Daddy Benedict

Sissy and BIL got the Sweet Potato Hash and Big Daddy Benedict. They were both equally delicious. This is a place I’d take people to if I lived out there and had people visiting. No bad dishes so far and I want to try all the others.

Fireman Board Game

We went back to their house where we played Exploding Kittens and some fireman board game. Both surprisingly fun. But Scruffy and I had to call it and we headed back to my place and we took an hour nap before heading to Andrew’s.

2018 | 223/365 | Dinner at Andrew’s

[2018] 223/365: Delicious Steak

We all went to HEB to buy groceries for dinner. We made delicious steak, salmon stuffed with crab, vegetable skewers, mac and cheese, and French fries. It was definitely too much food but it was a delicious one especially since I’ve been craving a steak for the longest time.

I cannot believe the weekend is almost over.

Carb Overload

Corner Bakery | Houston, Texas | Farmer's Breakfast

Since it was Tuesday, no free breakfast, I went and grabbed my own at Corner Bakery. I was genuinely surprised that they didn’t put salt on the eggs which is a great plus for me. Funny story: one of the ladies at the place bought What-a-Burger and her manager made her put it in a Corner Bakery bag because it obviously looks bad to customers to see their own employees eating food from other places. But seriously? Who can eat the same thing every day?!

OG Tea | Sugar Land, Texas | Taro Smoothie

I went to Scruffy’s after work to start my July Fourth Festivities which is pretty much relaxing until tomorrow. I grabbed a Taro Smoothie from OG Tea when we went out to grab groceries for tomorrow.

2018 | 184/365 | Pasta Dinner

[2018] 184/365: Pasta Dinner

Saleh came over for dinner and we’re about to play Risk. It’s been awhile since I had a pasta dinner at Scruffy’s but the real winner on this plate? The Brussels sprouts. You know, those Green Giant bags you just pop into the microwave? The salt and pepper Brussels sprouts are my favourite. Everything else is covered in butter these days so it’s great to have a different flavour. Also, the garlic bread this time was fantastic. Not too certain what they did differently but I had two! .. Or maybe I was just starving.

Family Day in Waco, Texas

Uber Eats Breakfast Tacos

Sissy and I ordered breakfast tacos through Uber Eats while everyone ate kolaches Mum brought up from Houston.

George's Restaurant and Catering | Waco, Texas

After Emmy had her socializing class, we all headed to Waco. We had plans to check out Magnolia Table but due to the long wait, we headed to George’s Restaurant & Catering instead.

George's Restaurant and Catering | Waco, Texas | Food

Dad and I shared our foods while Sissy and I shared our drink. The food wasn’t bad. I would opt out of getting the corn though. That was our least favourite.

Dr Pepper Museum | Waco, Texas

We then headed to the Dr Pepper Museum since Mum is their “biggest fan”. She even ordered it with her lunch, per usual. The museum, though small, was a bit fun. I liked that they had some interactive things for the viewers to take a part of.

Dr Pepper Museum | Waco, Texas | Complimentary Drink

We all got complimentary drinks. I went with the Sunkist. I drank a couple sips before Mum downed the rest.

Legends Thai Cuisine & Kung Fu Tea | Plano, Texas

We were going to stop by somewhere else too but decided to head back to Dallas. Sissy, SIL, and I played with Emmy while Brudda, Mum, and Dad went to Walmart and then picked up foods from Kung Fu Tea and Legends Thai Cuisine. This is one of the best Thai places I’ve had in America. It’s spicy and they give you so much for your buck!

2018 | 146/365 | Rockets vs Warriors | Game 6

[2018] 146/365: Game 6 Rockets vs Warriors

Though I’m extremely happy we had an amazing day with the family, my happiest was when I realized I finally get to watch the Rockets game. I haven’t been able to see any since I don’t have cable. Sadly, they are losing right now. Come on, Rockets, push on through!! Sigh …

Mother’s Day Brunch & Birthday Date with Scruffy

May 13, 2018 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Peli Peli | Katy, Texas | 2018 Mother's Day Brunch

Brunch for Mother’s Day at Peli Peli. They even had a deal that each mama dining in gets a $25 gift card. How sweet!!

The food here is to DIE for. I loved everything that went in my mouth. My recommendations are the Cape Town Skillet (#1 favourite), the bobotie, the roasted potatoes, and the Chilean sea bass (the Brussels sprouts are perfection!).

JJ and Leaves

While we were in the restaurant, Scruffy spotted Mallory, John, and JJ walking around outside. I made a call and met them outside. I’m so happy I got to see them on my birthday!! Every time I see JJ, he gives me the stink eye look and I feel a minute later, he recognises who I am and is all giggly and smiling. He was so intrigued by the leaves and kept bending over to touch them.

Green Tea Frap | Starbucks

After brunch, Brudda, SIL, and Emmy packed up on their way back home. Mum, Scruffy, BIL, and I played a few rounds of Deception in Hong Kong, a board game before Sissy and BIL left back to their own homes. Scruffy and I headed out to celebrate some birthday festivities. We started out at Starbucks to get my free birthday drink, but I decided to use that tomorrow before work instead and opted for the smallest green tea frap.

Rocket Fizz | Houston, Texas

We then made our way to Dave & Buster’s. We walked around the area, walking into Rocket Fizz to check out their candies. We didn’t end up buying anything but it was nice to go into the air-conditioned store since it was so hot out.

2018 | 133/365 | Dave & Buster's | Houston, Texas

[2018] 133/365: Dave & Buster’s Birthday Fun

We finally made it to Dave & Buster’s. I’m not too certain how long we were there and although it is a “waste” of money, it was nice to make those memories with him. I’m a kid at heart when it comes to romance so this was perfect. We were sweating through our clothes but we charged on. I ended up with a Magnetic Stand Timer with the tickets we collected. We had 90 left over but figured we can use that next time if we somehow decide to come back.

Pastor Tacos and Kobe Beef

He wanted to take me to a French restaurant but I opted to eat the pastor that’s seasoned back home and make tacos. Since we were passing by H-Mart, we stopped by to buy some groceries, just because, and ended up getting Kobe Beef slices. They are the best things ever. Super fatty, but so tender, and delicious.

I had the best time and am thankful Scruffy catered to me all weekend! Another amazing birthday in the books!

Meet the Parents

Katz Breakfast Delivery at Work

Breakfast was served from Katz at work today. Sorry for the blurry picture. I am a bit shy to take pics of my food at work. They’ll get better.

Brooklyn Meatball Co. | Houston, Texas

The college girl showed me around the tunnels and I grabbed lunch to bring back to my desk afternoon. Brooklyn Meatball Co. is one of the select few that isn’t Asian or Mediterranean.

Brooklyn Meatball Co. | Houston, Texas | Spicy Marinara Spaghetti and Meatballs

I got the spicy marinara spaghetti with meatballs. They give you so much food and the marinara is definitely spicy enough to give it that pow but not so spicy you’re dying for water. I have enough left over for another meal!

Brooklyn Meatball Co. | Houston, Texas | Cannoli

I cannot resist a cannoli so I went ahead and got one. Not really that great and I will say that I am starting to feel a bit meh about cannolis. Sigh, I’ll never find an amazing one.

Alonti Market Cafe | Houston, Texas

When we were walking around, she stopped by Alonti Market Cafe to pick up her foods.

Alonti Market Cafe | Houston, Texas | Roasted Red Potatoes

I couldn’t resist getting the roasted red potatoes, especially since she said it was one of the best she’s ever had. It’s not bad, but I’ve had way better. It’s enough to curb my potato cravings though.

After work, I went and got an oil change at the dealership. Dad picked me up and I was able to go to the bank and pick up a gift for Grandma for Mother’s Day. He then dropped me off to pick up my car and I went to Sprouts and World Market. Shopping for gifts, oh how I missed you.

2018 | 131/365 | Crown Seafood Restaurant | Houston, Texas | Birthday Dinner with Parents, Sissy, BIL, Scruffy, Ashy, and Jamie

[2018] 131/365: Meet the Parents

To kick off my birthday weekend, my parents, Sissy, BIL, Scruffy, Ashy, Jamie and I all met up at Crown Seafood Restaurant for dinner. From what I can tell, Ashy and Jamie seemed to like it, their first real Chinese food experience.

This is officially meet the parents. Dun Dun Dunnnn.

Fruit Tarts from Sissy and BIL at La Madeline's

Sissy bought me little fruit tarts from La Madeline since they’re one of my favourite things. YUM!

2018 Birthday Present from Ashy and Jamie

The gifts from Ashy and Jamie to use for our upcoming family trip. I’m excited! Everything is super cute, especially the flip-flops. You cannot tell but they have glitter bands!

Now to experiment with a new recipe in hopes it goes well so that I can bring it to Mother’s Day dinner tomorrow night!
