2021 | Week 71 of Quarantine

2021 | Week 71 of Quarantine | Mickey & Minnie in the Park; Lion King Puzzles

Life was a little rough in the beginning of the week. Monday was all fine and dandy but right when nighttime hit, I felt a little nauseous. I ended up taking Tuesday and Wednesday off. I laid in bed a lot but was able to finish two puzzles this week.

Rizzo was a trooper. He literally laid in bed with me all day. He needs a bath.

2021 | Week 71 of Quarantine | Volunteering - Mayor's Back to School Event | Mellie Dee & Leigh

I worked only 2 days this week and when Friday rolled around, I was in tip top condition. I was able to follow through at the food bank. They were doing the Mayor’s Back to School Fest where you load backpacks up with school supplies. We were able to fill up 17 pallets which equaled to 1700 backpacks!

I even got the meet the mayor and there was a high probability that I ended up on telly. After 4 hours, I went to return my Amazon things and picked up Raising Cane’s for lunch.

Saturday I met up with Mallory & Beth at Capri Nails to get pedicures. I am loving Vietnamese Coffee. Can someone please make it for me? I know mine won’t come out the same.

We went next door to Emily’s Taqueria so that Mallory can pick up food. She bought me a watermelon paleta. The flavour was good and the coldness was perfect for the hot day. But I feel like they’ve been sitting there for a long time because the texture was a little weird.

We went to Beth’s where we rummaged through her nail collection. Mallory left and I stayed chatting up a storm with Beth. She helped me see some things through and helped me build some courage on other things. Thankful to have her in my life!

2021 | Week 71 of Quarantine | Wingstop & Sushihana

Since I was sick I didn’t eat and I went crazy and got wings yesterday and sashimi today. It hit the spot. Now, it’s eat better time. Jenny’s wedding is coming up and I have not done well for myself.

Frankenstein and I did our first video chat last night that lasted two hours long. We took a picture with our pets. HAHA And ended up in space. It was nice to see his face and be together even when we cannot. physically I haven’t gotten approval if he would be okay to appear on the blog, so for now, you get stuff like this. You’re welcome.

August is my chilliest month, no trips! But it also means, one of the months where I have more time to make all the shirts I need to make … and those damn pillow covers Brudda needs me to make for his couch.

2021 | Week 70 of Quarantine | Mallory & Mellie Dee | Gloria's | Soju 101 | HMart

On Wednesday, Mallory and I had a girls night. We met up at Gloria’s for dinner and drinks. I am in love with their tamales and I am down to go back again just for it! We had some margaritas and then headed over to HMart to buy some goodies before going to Soju 101. We had soju shots and a sake bomb before calling it a night. It’s been a while since we’ve done something like this and it was a great time.

Thursday nifht was packing day. New bag and new purse. Definitely the best way to travel for a weekend trip. Rizzo wanted to come with.

The airport was crazy busy Friday morning but I was able to get there early and even get a dragon fruit lemonade thing from Starbucks. I snacked on my yummies from HMart while listening to a podcast.

Flight was pretty quick. I watched part of The Tomorrow War on the plane and when I landed I watched some more while snacking on Cafe Du Monde, waiting for Michelle to pick me up. The MSY airport had a cute wash your hands sign and seat covers. So clean and nice.

2021 | Week 70 of Quarantine | Dexter, Mellie Dee, Jack, Zea Rotisserie & Bar

Michelle and I caught up a lot in the car and Dexter came up to me when I got to the house. Either he remembers me or he just wanted love .. or both. I was able to get a good picture with Jack.

We hung out a bit and ordered food from Zea’s through DoorDash. I actually like grits now! How crazy.

At night Michelle and I had a girls night. We made different stops but due to the how busy all of them were, we ended up at Meribo and I am not disappointed. We had the biggest bowl of brussel sprout appetizer ever that I ended up having it with a total of four meals. And their pasta was great. I told her if I ever visited I wouldn’t mind coming here again.

Jack and Claire got the stomach bug from school and so we stopped by Walgreens and picked up some meds. Max finally came out and said hi and I took my first real bath while watching Mother’s Day.

Saturday morning I found out that Matt and Michelle were all throwing up too. I kinda knew that would happen. I hung out with Dexter, watched and finished Never Had I Ever and ate lunch through Door Dash by Skooter’s. I was surprised by how much they gave and the food was very delicious.

I took a nap then went to Target to pick up some things for them. Came back and made chicken noodle soup for Jack and played with him a bit. When I went to the bathroom, Dexter followed me and Jack tried to shove toys (train track) under the door and started crying because I was in the bathroom. Haha

2021 | Week 70 of Quarantine | Max & Dexter | Felix's Restaurant and Oyster Bar | Mandeville, Louisiana

Later that night I ordered food from Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar through Uber Eats. Super expensive and not a good portion size. But it was good enough to keep me full. Max came to say hi but always at a distance and Dexter scared me because he was in my room chilling and I didn’t even know.

This morning Michelle and I went to the ER since she was feeling a lot of pressure and since she had the stomach bug, most likely dehydrated. Luckily they checked her out and she was all good.

We went back to the house, ordered Skooter’s again as I finished watching TVB’s Sinister Beings. I got to finally see a baby frog (they croak a lot at night) as we walked out the door to the airport. Michelle took me and it was nice to have a good hour with her again before leaving. My flight got delayed but luckily I’ve finally landed and am on my shuttle to my car.

We obviously didn’t do much and it sucked everyone was sick but I’m glad I didn’t get sick. But most importantly glad I got to spend time with Michelle. 3 years until she moves back home! #fingerscrossed

2021 | Week 69 of Quarantine | Frankenstein's Artemis + Mellie Dee

Went over to Frankenstein’s Monday and got to meet Artemis. He finally named her. Her for now until he actually takes her to the vet. She wasn’t a big fan of me at first so I started taking out different toys I got her (pickle included) to see if I could bribe her. She wasn’t a fan and questioned my every move. She did like my hair and dress though. She finally gave up and cuddled with me a bit while we watched Manifest. I accidentally fell asleep for a short period. Whoops.

I got kitty updates throughout the week. Her eyes are turning yellower! And now I want a cat.

2021 | Week 69 of Quarantine | Yummy Crawfish and Watermelon Juice

I was able to get some crawfish from Yummy Seafood Tuesday. It’s probably my last time for the season and it was perfect.

I also got to get in a few cups of Watermelon Juice. I got an immersion blender during Prime Day sale and it’s been well worth it. I feel so dumb for not getting one sooner! I’m not sure why I like drinking watermelon more than eating it.

2021 | Week 69 of Quarantine | Outback Steakhouse with Mum | Gift card from Erin | Mellie Dee

Thursday night I took Mum to Outback Steakhouse. Erin got me a gift card for my birthday to use next time I was donating and it was perfect! I had so much leftover and ate it for two other meals. Their margarita flight was dang good too. Pretty sure not a lot of alcohol but still good.

Friday, after work, I donated and got a free beach towel. I was the last one there and felt awkward that they were all waiting for me.

I went to Mallory’s after where we updated each other about life and then took selfies. We had the best cheap wine and ate dinner when John came home. We ordered from Fuji Sushi Restaurant and it was surprisingly good and they give a lot!

We had brownies and ice cream afterward while watching Netflix. There’s a scene that’s famous on TikTok and we took a gander and boy was it a gander. If you’re wondering, Sex/Life, Episode 3 around 19:50. NSFW.

2021 | Week 69 of Quarantine | Shabu Town with Mum & June

Saturday I went to Shabu Town with Mum and June after debating for almost an hour on getting Indian food. Hoping I can get some of that in soon. It’s been a while!

2021 | Week 69 of Quarantine | Bruno, Kato, Rocky, Rizzo, Walks

I’ve been having a lot of doggie time since Kato and Bruno stayed all week while Sissy & BIL were out of town. Rizzo was giving me a lot of cuddles weirdly enough and I took him up on the offer. We even went on a two hour walk. He was dying but we did it! I was going to take him again today but it was 91 degrees — but with the humidity, it felt like 101. Okay, thanks mother nature.

With no kids around, I was able to finish four puzzles this week. Only 500 pieces each so super easy but no missing pieces!

2021 | Week 68 of Quarantine | Sissy & BIL's | Water Heater Installation | Bruno & Kato, Selena + Chef, 7 Spices, Seafood Sandwich

Monday morning, I arrived at Sissy & BIL’s. They were getting their water heater put in and needed someone to be at the house. It was nice working at a different location for a day. I was able to watch Selena + Chef (I finished the whole season that day) while I worked and Bruno and Kato laid on me. I even got to order from 7 Spices. Their food came out amazing and was a little bummed I ordered so little but it was enough to fulfill me.

Later that day when they came home, we ordered food from some place I don’t remember and watched an episode of Parenthood. I got the seafood sandwich with a side of soup and it was wonderful. I saved the other half to take home to Mum.

2021 | Week 68 of Quarantine | Jury Duty

I had spent the night at their house since the next day, it was my Jury Duty. I had signed up to do virtual but I never received an email. When I showed up they told me mine was virtual but since I’m here, to stay. I ended up being chosen to be on grand jury. Before you tell me I should of been more opinionated, I’m just going to say this – they only ask about your schedule. It’s going to be for twice a week for three months. I’ve told my line manager so on days I have to go to jury duty, I’ll have to also work after if I get off early. They did give us a pretty good lunch and apparently on those two days a week, we’ll be getting that as well.

2021 | Week 68 of Quarantine | Frankenstein's New Kitty

Wednesday morning, Frankenstein surprised me that he now has a kitty. Apparently when he left the hospital, someone had found a kitty and he offered to take her in. She doesn’t have a name yet but he’ll be naming her after some space stuff. I cannot wait to meet her tomorrow! I hope she likes me more. Doubt it though.

2021 | Week 68 of Quarantine | Mallory, John, Robbie, Emmy, Jacob, JJ

Later that day, I went to pick up some beef jerky that Ricardo had sent down. I had taken Emmy with me and remembered that I was going to stop by Mallory and John’s to see Robbie. He was in town for a day and they were doing dinner. I stopped by where Emmy got to play with Jacob and JJ while we talked and ate. It was nice to catch up since it’s been forever. Emmy and I then stopped by Pet Supplies Plus and saw some kitties up for adoption. After seeing Frankenstein having one I want one now. Maybe one day.

2021 | Week 68 of Quarantine | Orange Mountain Puzzle, Ethan, Tangled Puzzle

Thursday night I finished my mountain puzzle. Sadly a piece was missing from this one too. UGH. I don’t know if it’s because of the kids or because of the company because it’s the same company as the previous missing piece puzzle. Luckily, my Tangled puzzle was safe; different company though.

2021 | Week 68 of Quarantine | Emmy, Ethan, Jacob, JJ Playdate, John, Mallory, Uncle Julio's

Friday, after work, I took both Ethan & Emmy to Mallory’s. John was home too and was able to finally meet Ethan. They all played a long great. Ethan and Jacob, Emmy and JJ. Not fights and great deal of sharing. I ordered food from Uncle Julio’s and drinks (duh) and relaxed. After a long while of playing, we headed home. With the kids both asleep, I know it was a good day for them.

2021 | Week 68 of Quarantine | Nuestra Casa Bakery Cafe | Pedicure with Mum & Sissy

Saturday morning, Sissy came over so that we could get pedicures with Mum. We stopped by Nuestra Casa Bakery Cafe. This place is so tucked in that I would have never stopped by if Sissy didn’t ask to. They have nice pastries like sweet bread and empanadas, among other things. I am going to stop by here again to get more in the future.

2021 | Week 68 of Quarantine | Starbucks, Emmy, Tie Dye with Sissy

We stopped by, got Starbucks, and begin tie dying with Emmy. Our hands were all blue since Emmy doused her shirt with so much blue, the pink didn’t show up anymore. Her shirt ended up being pretty good though.

Sissy and I then went and dropped off a lot of stuff to UPS and stopped by Diaso to do some shopping we didn’t need before we got back home where she played with Emmy a bit before leaving.

A few hours later, Brudda and SIL arrived and I was finally child free. This is when I started and finished my Tangle puzzle while listening to music.

2021 | Week 68 of Quarantine | Starbucks, Armadillo Escape Room Adventures, Russo Pizza, Camel Up, Hot Pot, Sparklers

Sunday morning started off with SIL picking up Starbucks before everyone showed up at our house. Sissy, BIL, Gordon, Timothy, and Sarah joined Brudda, SIL and I to Armadillo Escape Room Adventures. We won, but we did get a lot of hints we didn’t ask for. We assume because we were on Novice.

Afterwards, we picked up Emmy and pizza from Russo’s and headed over to Katie’s house so that we could hang out with Joanna, Kiran, Jasmine, Katrina, Jacky as well. We ate pizza and played board games. Then we headed home for dinner of hot pot before heading back for sparklers. These sparklers were from Joanna & Kiran’s wedding YEARS ago. But they still worked and the kids had a lot of fun.

Everyone leaves tomorrow which means relaxation at it’s finest.

2021 | Week 67 of Quarantine | Emmy, Ethan, Rizzo

Ethan and Emmy are back in town. They’ve been nonstop screaming their heads off — and crying. Work has been harder with them since they’re so much more vocal but overall, not too horrible.

2021 | Week 67 of Quarantine | Lakehouse Puzzle

Not too horrible because at nighttime, I throw them to June & Mum so that I could relax with my puzzle. Sadly my Lake House puzzle is missing a piece right out of the box. I submitted a form, hoping they can fix my missing piece. Fingers crossed. I’m currently working on another one. 1/3 completed so far. Yay!

2021 | Week 67 of Quarantine | Evin | Starbucks

Super early Friday, I met up with Evin for coffee at Starbucks. It’s been way over a year and a half so it was time to meet up and catch up in person. One hour passed by so easily before we had to bid our farewell.

2021 | Week 67 of Quarantine | Thaicoon and Tea Top with Mum & June

June was off so we went and picked up Mum from work and went to Thaicoon, our new favourite Thai place, for lunch. And picked up a few Tea Tops for her to take back to work. It was nice to get away on a week day with just us gals. I wish Sissy lived or worked closer so we could do the same sometimes.

2021 | Week 67 of Quarantine | Ethan & Jacob Playdate | Mallory & Mellie Dee

Later that afternoon, I took Ethan to Mallory’s so that he could play with Jacob. Emmy wasn’t allowed to since she was being bad all week. Hoping she learns from it and so far, it seems she has.

Ethan mostly ate the whole time he was there and was okay with Mallory holding him for a split second before a small whine came out. We went over to Ashley’s since JJ was playing with them and scored some free ice creams. I think he did a good job meeting new people and at the end, Jacob was chasing after him and they were laughing.

2021 | Week 67 of Quarantine | Rachel & Simon Wedding

Saturday, I went to Rachel & Simon’s wedding early since Michelle had asked if I could help take care of her kids. Sadly, Claire was sick and Jack is VERY attached to momma so there wasn’t much I needed to do. I felt special sitting with the family and being able to have a little Rachel time during the reception. They are so cute! And she looked like Anne Hathaway with her long hair!

2021 | Week 67 of Quarantine | Rachel & Simon Wedding | Food

After the ceremony, I drove Michelle’s car with Aunt Jennifer to pick up with Claire and their PawPaw from the house. We were worried the food would be all gone since it was a three stationed buffet. Luckily cocktail hour was for an hour plus so we made it JUST in time!

I hung out mostly with Amanda at the beginning and we went to all the stations together. Southern Comforts Station (chicken & waffle quarter, deviled eggs & bacon, baked mac & cheese), Dim Sum Station (shrimp shumai, pork dumpling, char siu bun all served with siracha and honey soy sauce), Carving Station (penne pasta alfredo, beef sirloin served with Argentinean Chimichurri, creamy horseradish and red wine au jus, specialty roll with butter).

Our favourite was obviously the carving station. Amanda helped me get a second plate because I was too scared to. The sirloin with the chimichurri hit the spot. Chimichurri sauce is on my list of things to make.

2021 | Week 67 of Quarantine | Rachel & Simon Wedding | Photobooths & Selfies

I was afraid I wouldn’t get any Michelle or Rachel time but was super happy I was once we put the kids in the car for their Aunts and Uncle to take them back to the house. We were able to take pictures, make jokes, and just have chill time. It was nice to see everyone again.

Please look at Michelle’s date since Matt was stuck at work. Haha Too funny. I cannot wait to visit her in three weeks!

2021 | Week 67 of Quarantine | Gyu Kaku with Mum & Emmy

Today, I took Mum and Emmy to Target and then Emmy got hungry so we stopped at Gyu Kaku. I’ve always wanted to take Mum here and it was a perfect opportunity. We finished all the foods and Emmy did a GREAT job. She ate SO much! She had fun popping the edamame into her mouth. With her kids meal, she made a fortune teller and was able to find the hidden cow so that she could get a free s’mores. She had fun.

It’s been a long week but a great one with wonderful memories.
