2019 BIL’s Birthday

June 23, 2019 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Adopt Theodore on Petfinder 4

Sissy and BIL brought Teddy over so that Emmy could get some time in with a puppy. It was hilarious because he’s a bitter and he got a hold of Emmy’s pants and it was just a funny scene all together. His eyes! <3

When we were out eating, we found out a family was willing to adopt Teddy, as a trail period. They dropped him off with a family that has three kids who were so excited that although the mum said it was a trail, you know he has found his forever home.

I’ve always wanted to foster animals when I got older and possibly humans but I am not sure if I can after this. I am so happy he found his family but I’m also sad to watch him go.

2019 BIL's Birthday at Cravin Cajun

BIL haven’t had crawfish all season so he wanted to go to Cravin’ Cajun. Sissy ordered her vegetables with mine and we all had a grand time chowing down.

Yes, I had crawfish yesterday but …. who cares! The season is almost over!

2019 BIL's Birthday Cake

We went home, they dropped off Teddy, and Emmy took a nap before we cut the cake for BIL’s birthday. I gave him his bacon jam for his birthday which he is excited to try.

Serenading Emmy and Rizzo

I was strumming and singing and Emmy walks in with June. I played some of her favourite songs like Moana’s How Far I’ll Go and Frozen’s Let It Go to name a few. She sang and danced along which was a dream come true to me because this is what I always wanted to do with my nieces/nephews or kids my own. We sang other songs and slowly, she was going in and out of sleep, trying hard to stay awake. I love you, Emmy.

Emmy and Crawfish

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and Pottermore Hufflepuff

I downloaded Harry Potter: Wizards Unite since someone else recommended it. I’m not sure it’ll be something I’ll continue playing after a week but it did force me to finally take the Pottermore Sorting Hat. I was sorted into Hufflepuff which is what people tend to say I am. That or Gryffindor.

Emmy and Rizzo Stare-Off

Emmy has been giving Rizzo pets on the head and kisses and he’s been a sweet boy being okay with it … Until she was doing it too frequently and his little growls started to come out.

Crawfish at Gordon's and Patsy's

Gordon and Patsy invited June and I to their house for crawfish. They’re getting better and better at flavouring their crawfish like Vietnamese places. So freaking good. I like having these moments with them as I do get to learn more about them. I guess smaller groups of us hanging out has helped.

Adopt Theodore on Petfinder 3

Hi World, it’s me, Teddy!

After work today, I stopped by Sissy’s to play with this little ball of fur. He reminds me so much of Rizzo when he was a baby. He’s a biter with his tiny, sharp teeth. His paws were so soft and he’s light just like Rizzo was. He loves following people around and rubbing himself on BIL’s socked feet. I was there for a good thirty minutes and taught him to sit. He’s one smart pupper and I know he’ll get adopted easily. I was sad about having to say goodbye to him. I’ve always wanted to foster animals and humans in the future but I don’t think I’d be able to after this encounter.

Emmy will be here soon and will be staying with us for a bit! I am SUPER excited since this is the first time having her without her parents. Sissy and I took a couple of days of to have Auntie and Emmy time.

Last Team Happy Hour for Erin

La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant | Houston, Texas

Jake came into the office today and Christopher and I joined him for lunch at La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant. It was actually not bad! The salsa they give for the chips and dip is one of the best ones I’ve had because of the spiciness. This was too much food though and I had to pack majority of it away.

Erin & Mellie Dee Yardhouse Happy Hour | Chinky Eyes

Erin and I with too much laughter with our chinky eyes to our wide open eyes. Our team left to meet her for her last ever goodbye happy hour at Yardhouse. We were there from 3 to 9 pm. One of the longest team happy hours I’ve been to but also one of the bests. I had an old fashioned, a beer, and about five shots with a lot of delicious foods.

Erin & Mellie Dee Yardhouse Happy Hour

Us being normal. Throughout the years that I’ve known her, tonight was probably the night where we had the most contact in the sense of touching. Nothing weird, just hugs and pokes. I guess this is our way of saying we’ll miss each other.

Thankful for her and everything she’s done for me whether it be my job or my personal life. I’m still working on myself and am glad she was there when I needed someone the most, helping shape me and give me confidence in things I’ve lacked my whole life. It hasn’t hit me that she’ll be halfway around the world soon but maybe it also means our friendship can withstand the distance. <3

Salesforce Basecamp Conference

Adopt Theodore on Petfinder

First things first. Sissy sent Brudda and me pictures and videos of this little baby. I guess she doesn’t want our parents to find out that she is volunteering to watch over Teddy and bring him in for adoption come Saturday. They said he’s a terrier mix but I see some lab in him which reminds me of Luna, but the sunny version of her, Sol. Bruno and Kato just stare at him and it’s so adorable!

Adopt Theodore on Petfinder 2

His colouring kind of reminds me of Rizzo when he was a baby. If you’re interested in adopting this cutie, follow the link! Just look at his eyes! https://www.petfinder.com/dog/theodore-44938407/tx/houston/pup-squad-animal-rescue-tx1261/

Okay, back to my day. This morning there was a networking session where we were fed breakfast tacos and coffee. I got to meet people outside of my organization and it was nice to be able to talk about different parts of the company and branch out.

We Thai Restaurant | Houston, Texas

Josh, Juhi, Christopher and I met up with Erin and John for Thai food for lunch. The place we wanted to go to had water issues so we went across the street to We Thai Restaurant. Google gave it four stars, Yelp gave it three and a half. Guess, always go with Yelp because we’ve all decided we won’t be back. Their soup and vegetable egg roll were good but their pad thai tasted like sweet jam and their spice level was horrible. Josh ordered Thai hot and I ordered hot and I did not taste any spice at all. Bummer.

Salesforce Basecamp Conference

After getting back to the office, we were there for a good hour before Christopher and I headed to the Salesforce Basecamp Conference in a hotel down the street.

Salesforce Basecamp Conference | Trail Mix

Salesforce has these things called Trails where you can learn how to use their product. I thought it was adorable that they put together a little trail mix bar!

Salesforce Basecamp Conference | Mascot Cutouts

We walked around, networked a bit, and saw a lot of cute little cardboard cutouts of their mascots. I wish I could draw cute things like this!

Salesforce Basecamp Conference | Starbucks Gift Card

We sat through a couple hours of presentations and demos which was very informative. I don’t think I’ve ever been so alert in a conference before! And afterward we took a quick minute survey and received gift cards to Starbucks.

Salesforce Basecamp Conference | Happy Hour

They ended it with a Happy Hour with an open bar and little finger foods. Fried chicken on a stick with barbecue sauce, crab cakes, and fried mini artichokes. We networked some more, met some people that also worked at the same company as us before we called it a night.

It’s been a day filled with networking and making conversations but it’s been one of the good days in a while so I cannot complain.
