Baked Pork Chop with Rice
Roasted Pork with Eggs with Rice

Brunch was served. Yum! I’ve been waiting for my Baked Pork Chop with Rice … sadly it’s not as good as where I get it in the States. Sad smile Waste.

IMG_7956

Still on that medicine shiet. Nasty. They didn’t cook my medicine in time so I have to mix my own. WTF. They should give us money back. When you use the instant mix, it’s not as affective. But I like this way better. It’s not as bitter and I can drink it pretty much whenever I want in that time period.

IMG_7960IMG_7957IMG_7958IMG_7959IMG_7963

After we got our medicine, Mum and I went shopping. Something for the brother (don’t tell bro what it is sissy!), candies, earrings, and a purse!

I needed it a new purse since the one I brought over started turning colors. Sad smile It was so cute too so I’m very depressed. But this purse is cute.

IMG_7961

PoPo bought some Little Chicken Bread. Not a fan but I took one anyway since she offered.

Then Kathy came home along with Rachel and we got ready for Macau sans PoPo. Eeeep! So excited. We rode on the subway then walked to the ferry place.

IMG_7964

When we got to the ferry place, we stopped by Starbucks.

They have Green Tea Frappuccino with Red Bean!! Mmmm … so good. I wish they had it in the States! Only thing that sucked was when I tried to suck up the beans and it got stuck in the straw. They need bigger straws …

We got a phone call to meet Dicky on the other side … so we bought our tickets and got on the ferry.

IMG_7967IMG_7966

The inside looks exactly like the inside of an airplane. Only thing different is there’s more leg room!

I went into the bathroom to pee … and uh … all I can say is you need strong leg muscles to piss on a ferry.

When we got to Macau … after a long ferry ride we met up with Dicky and then headed to dinner.

IMG_7983

In a taxi! I can cross that off my list. Winking smile

IMG_7974IMG_7977

We had Pork Bone Hot Pot. Look at all that bone. Sooo good. You can suck the marrow out of the bone … with a straw. LOVE!

IMG_7975IMG_7978

So we hot potted and cooked meat and fish.

IMG_7981IMG_7979

Had fried FROGS. Yep you red that right. and Clams.

I was hesitant with the frogs but I’ll try anything once … so yep … I can’t help but keep having frogs jumping around in my head. So that made it difficult to put into my mouth. Frogs tastes JUST like chicken. Mmmm …

IMG_7982

We rode the Hotel bus to the hotel.

IMG_7985

Um .. I would like this in my room please.

IMG_7999

Sweeeet. One of the top floors! Rachel and I went into this one while Mum and Kathy went onto the 25th floor one.

IMG_8001

Nice. Ass. View.

IMG_8007

Whatchu know about them see through bathrooms? So cool. Bathtub. Standing shower. Toilet. Of course you can pull down the curtain though so no one can see when you’re naked.

IMG_8030

After we were settled, we went to gamble somewhere in the hotel. So fun. We played big/small and pulled some machines.

Then we went outside the hotel. This is what it looks like. Sweeeeet! And we went to grab a midnight snack.

IMG_8027IMG_8028IMG_8026

Dumplings with Crab and Soup
Dumplings with Pork and Chives
Sesame Filled Sweet Dough Balls

Mmm … I love the wrapper of the dumplings with crab and soup but loved the filling of the pork and chives dumpling. YUM! If only it was that instead then I would really be satisfied!

IMG_8029

Macau money if anyone wondered what it looked like.

I’ll update Macau: Day 2 later. I gotta pack for Taiwan. Leaving to the airport in a few hours then riding on a jet plane! Weeee!!

Suma Veggie Café & Jeng Chi Restaurant

July 15, 2012 by Mellie Dee 4 Comments

Before my brother’s graduation, Jenny and Tammy took me to:

2012-05-18 12.33.02

Suma Veggie Café
800 East Arapaho Road #120
Richardson, Texas
(972) 889-8598
www.sumaveggie.com

2012-05-18 12.36.46

Lunch Buffet [all you can eat!] | $7.35

Their buffet was small but how many vegetarian food can they make? Some foods tasted bland while others were doused in sauces … or fried.

It’s a family owned, small little restaurant. I don’t hate it. But then again, I don’t love it. If you are vegetarian I think this is a great place to go to, else, I’ll stay away and eat my mum’s vegetarian food.

The next day for lunch, Jenny and Sammi took me to:

2012-05-19 13.11.15

Jeng Chi Restaurant
400 North Greenville Avenue #19
Richardson, Texas
(972) 669-9094
www.jengchirestaurant.com

2012-05-19 13.20.28

Chicken Cold Noodle | $5.45

So good. It reminds me of when I was around the age of 12 and my mum made it after watching a Chinese show on telly. The coldness tasted so great with that hot summer heat.

2012-05-19 13.21.07

Small Juicy Steamed Dumplings [8] | $5.95

But then this counteracted with it with the steaming soup. These are my favorite types of dumplings. A squirt of soup wrapped up. If you ever go to a Chinese restaurant and they have this, try it! You will love it! And if you don’t … I don’t think we can be friends anymore.

2012-05-19 13.23.46

Green Onion Pancake [1] | $2.50

These are never my favorite. But Jenny and Sammi loves them so they got it. Tried it and loved it. They make it so differently. It is actually crispy on the outside and fluffy and soft on the inside. Whereas the other places I’ve ever had it is just crispy all over. Bleugh. So that was a surprise.

2012-05-19 13.27.49

Pork and Leek Boiled Dumplings [12] | $4.95

I love dumplings. LOVE. If you don’t we can’t be friends. I’m a bigger fan of dumplings if it has less meat and more flour skin. Though these aren’t like that, it was still so dang good.

I want to come here for lunch every time I’m in Dallas. Go here. Try the food. You won’t regret it!

2012 Asia Trip | Day 10

July 13, 2012 by Mellie Dee 4 Comments

First things first … I changed my layout! It’s very simple but less kiddish than the last one. I’m thinking of redoing my header but I’ll wait to think about that until I’m back in the States.

IMG_7915

Woke up and had brunch with mum at this place.

IMG_7920IMG_7916IMG_7917

Soya Bean Milk (Cold)
Sour Prune Juice (Cold)
Braised Eggplant with Garlic & Chili
Garlic Stewed Green Beans

The Soya Bean Milk was delicious. I can’t say the same for the Sour Prune Juice.

The Braised Eggplant was super salty while the Garlic Green Beans had no taste.

IMG_7919IMG_7921IMG_7922

Stir Fried Rice with Minced Pork & Preserved Turnip
Noodle Soup with Deep Fried Spare Ribs in Spicy Sesame Sauce

The Stir Fried Rice was to die for. I can go back and eat ONLY that. Actually that’s what my mum plans to do that and what’s below.

The Noodle was a fail. Nothing special and the Spare Ribs are just like any other Fried Pork Chop here in Hong Kong.

IMG_7923

Pan Fried Pork Dumplings

So good. They had a lot of juice in it. Just how I like my dumplings! A lot of it squirted out … which I was sad about. Sad smile

I love trying new foods but we seriously always order too much. It’s a good thing there’s something called a take out box.

IMG_7924IMG_7925IMG_7926IMG_7927

Then Mum and I went to an Organic shop next door. Happiness. I bought the Veggie Chips … let’s see if it tastes better here or in the States. I’m betting the States. Winking smile It’s all made in Taiwan … so if it tastes amazing, you better bet I’ll stock up when I’m there.

Picture0003

I still haven’t gotten my haircut … because I’m lazy … so this is what my hair looks like … Every. Single. Day. I miss my bangaroos. But it’s so hot here anyway that putting your hair up feels better than having hair stuck all over your face and neck.

Picture0004

Enjoying some ice cream Vincent and Rachel got me yesterday. Too sweet … but so good on this hot, hot day. I didn’t finish it all .. of course. Ice cream never was my favorite. I’ll save it for later.

IMG_7934

Mum bought some for Sissy because they were apparently on sale. But I think I’m gonna steal some. For those that don’t know what it is, it’s little Koala Bear Cookies filled with Chocolate. Brings me back to childhood. Winking smile

IMG_7938IMG_7944

Dinner came and PoPo asked Kathy to buy beer! Whoo hoo. The Asian way is no cups. In bowls. Smile with tongue out

IMG_7942IMG_7943IMG_7940IMG_7941

More pigeon. PoPo knew I liked it so she went out and bought Kathy, Mum, herself, and I one!! You can see the heads popping out. And that even bothers me. Luckily, they popped the head off of mine because that’s just straight up gross.

… veggies, tofu, eggplant and hot pepper with pork.

So. Damn. Good.

One thing I’ll surely miss when I leave is PoPo’s cooking.

Macau

Off to Macau later to stay in a hotel tonight with Kathy, Mum, and Rachel. I’m a day early so … I’ll already be there while y’all just start y’all’s Saturday. Weird huh? How it’s actually Friday right now but it’s Saturday for me? Smile with tongue out Then the fun begins the next day when Vincent and Alva joins us after work. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go through without my HKID and with just my Passport so we shall see. Fingers crossed! If all goes well, we’ll be making amazing memories. Else, it’s back to the flat and to the mountain tops instead. Either way, win win!

IMG_7892IMG_7894IMG_7893

Brunch consisted of curry pork with rice. Mum had some and she had the red bean ice as well. I stuck with water. I’m not a big fan of curry, but I can never stay away from Chinese curry. It’s different. Try it and you’ll understand.

IMG_7895

Then I went to a Chinese Doctor … because there’s a lot of things wrong with me. bahaha Two of those drinks are mine. It’s bitter and tastes like .. shit. It’s suppose to fix my problems in three doses. So that means two cups times three … Kill. Me. Now.

IMG_7901IMG_7902IMG_7903IMG_7904IMG_7896IMG_7897IMG_7898IMG_7899IMG_7900

Then we had Dim Sum again. After 2pm. Discount. Plus it was the last meal before Alva had to start work. Since I was so full from my early eatings and medicine I only ate a little while PoPo, Mum, and Alva ate the rest.

Pig intestines are still one of my favorites.

IMG_7908

We went to a store to buy bracelets and earrings. We walked away with 2 bracelets and about 5 earrings. Crazy huh? I don’t have ear holes. They’re for my fams. Excited to give it to them!

IMG_7905

Bought a cake roll for funsies. Yum!

Then Mum and I went grocery shopping … Gai See. This is what it usually looks like the old school way below. My favorite way of shopping for foods. I got the pictures online because they don’t let you take pictures and if they see you they will chase you with their butcher knives. Jokes but … seriously. They don’t like it.

08-gallery-hong-kong-vegetables_30392_600x450

Vegetables and fruit stands tend to look like this.

639a0e3fd9eff1f6666202f633719f8b_large

Fish or any seafood tends to look like this. They don’t care if you’re near … if you’re close by, you will get splashed. Don’t ever wear pretty clothes to grocery shopping …

691843-Live_chicken_vendor_in_Public_Market_Hong_Kong

Live chickens they will kill in front of your dang face.

SuperStock_1840-8541

Pork and beef is hung up and you get to chose and pick. So much redness!

IMG_7906IMG_7907

We ended up buying some Chinese lettuce along with Pigeon.

Yes. You got that right. Pigeon. Fried Pigeon at that. Don’t knock it till you try it. It might look like duck but it’s 100 times better.

We didn’t buy much because PoPo already had some groceries in the fridge.

Dinner for five … PoPo, Mum, Vincent, Rachel, and meeeeeee

IMG_7911IMG_7912

Other than pigeon we had the cooked lettuce, fried fish …

IMG_7913IMG_7909

… pork ribs and soup with carrots beef and some other junk that is suppose to be good for you.

So good. I love PoPo’s cooking!

IMG_7914

After dinner, Rachel and Vincent went to get ice cream and brought me back some … Belgian Triple Chocolate. I was too full to eat a bite of it but apparently it’s all mine.

Good day. Pork intestine AND pigeon all in one day! Smile

IMG_7843IMG_7845IMG_7846

IMG_7847IMG_7848IMG_7849IMG_7850

Brunch with Mum at a Vietnamese Restaurant. Tea. Sugared Lemon with 7up. Red bean mixture with coconut milk. Two noodle bowls. A bowl of Napa cabbage. Fried Pork Chop and Fried Chicken wings.

Too much food. So. Full.

IMG_7853IMG_7854

We went back home for a rest or two then Alva and PoPo took us to the bus station. Double Decker Busses! Mum and I had to visit my Grandma’s Little Brother (Number 10 and his wife). Look at the view!

An hour or so later, we arrived.

IMG_7867IMG_7869IMG_7855IMG_7856IMG_7857IMG_7871

We talked for a little while and then dinner was served. Veggies, mushrooms, veggies, clams, chicken feet, and fish heads.

Only thing I liked … mushrooms and veggies. So good. I’m not saying her cooking is bad but I’m just not a big fan of the other foods. Then I had two big lychees. Not a big fan either but they were juicy good!

IMG_7864IMG_7865IMG_7861IMG_7866

The view from their flat. The air is so clean and obviously they have a nice view! Everything seems far away but once you start walking to things, it’s actually super close by. They live on floor 20 something I believe so everything is definitely tinier from up high.

IMG_7884

When we left, Mum and I sat on a Train! Which then we got off and transferred onto a subway to get back to our flat.

IMG_7885

Along the way home, we stopped by to buy Alva some Tong Sui. I wanted some too but they didn’t have the one I wanted. Therefore I got Sui Mai and Fish Balls along with some Gai Daan Jai. YUM!

Afterward, Alva decided to go on a walk and invited me along. So we ended up going on an hour plus walk along the pier. No pictures because he didn’t tell me it was going to be so beautiful! We saw ferries, gorgeously lit up buildings, dogs roaming around freely with their owners, runners, bikers, etc. Then he showed me his old Elementary School. We talked a lot and it was pretty cool catching up. We stopped by a 7/11 to get something to drink because it was so hot and humid with little wind.

Seriously, something so simple can make me so happy. I love that my cousin and I can get along even after all these years. He might be nice to me right now because he knows I’m leaving but whatever. It just feels right.

Can I stay here forever?
