A Whole Lotta Pictures

A glimpse of one of the buildings at my workplace. I love it here.

I wake up, go to work, come home, work out, then lose myself in the web, a good book, a magazine, or a television show. Sometimes if I’m lucky I get a phone call or a skype call from friends in SA. Seriously … that doesn’t even sound busy but to me I feel like I haven’t slept in ages.

I blame the whole not having enough red blood cells because the blood center took too much due to the machine failing to give me back what I need therefore making me tired. Run on sentence? I’m too tired to fix it.

Right now I’m watching Training Day. Never heard of the movie? It’s okay. I didn’t either until Tony C. begged everyone to watch it because apparently “it’s so d*mn good.”

I went to a Korean restaurant with June and Mum last Saturday. Food was good, super expensive, but the servers were rude. I hate when that happens because now I never want to go back.

20120915_190552

Luckily we have our own type of grill at our home and since Dad wasn’t there, we went and bough some bulgogi and galbi for dinner that night so he could be in on the fun.

IMG_20120915_185324

Best. Idea. Ever. It might not look like a lot of food but there’s a tower of meat on one side and a tower of seafood on the other. And we had golden mushrooms in those little packets. We didn’t even finish everything!

Seriously … best idea ever. I asked my family to do this every weekend. It’s way cheaper and we get more food out of it. Let’s see if it happens.

Did any one else eat these when they were a kid. They bring back some good memories.

And speaking of memories …

IMG_20120916_133440

I brought out my popcorn machine again. I miss it. It brings me back to college life where Jenny and I would pop popcorn almost daily as a snack or just to study with or watch movies with. I miss that apartment. And my next door neighbor, Travis, along with everyone in SA.

IMG_20120917_23204019620253

My family’s two fridges on the left. And a little funny thing on the right which makes it kind of sad. I never understood why my family has two fridges.

Hump Day tomorrow … I’m ready. This week has been going by way too slowly.

Nom Nom Noodles

September 13, 2012 by Mellie Dee 8 Comments

I’ve been a bit lagged on Google Reader. Whoopsies. I’ll get there. I always do.

***************************

A few days ago some of my coworkers and I went to:

image

Nom Nom Noodles
1635 Eldridge Pkwy Ste 400
Houston, TX 77077
(281) 497-602
www.nomnomnoodles.com

20120911_11291520120911_113046

Vermicelli Combo aka Bun Dac Biet [combination of grilled pork & chicken vermicelli rice noodles served with house sauce, green onions, lettuce, pickled carrots, pickled daikon, bean sprouts, cucumbers, carrots, & crushed peanuts} | $7.79

Additional $1.99 for a choice of one eggroll or one spring roll plus a fountain drink …

Which I wished I knew because I would not have taken that. I don’t like soda much and that spring roll looked a little sad. Yeah, this place is good if I want Pho close to work … but I’ve had better. My coworkers thought it tasted pretty darn good though. Guess it was just mine that was not up to par.

***************************

Today started out a little different …

IMG_20120913_075527

So gorgeous. The light shining through would be lighting and I love that the moon was just chilling up above. Surprisingly no rain came down the whole drive to work. And it reminded me of Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away:

“Dry lightning cracks across sky
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes …”

Pretty obsessed with this song right now. Sad song though.

***************************

20120913_120914

I made today an FTK day. Natural lighting aka florescent lights with an exposure value of +2.0 makes for some pretty pictures. Glowing! Haven’t wore my FTK polo in so long. I heard a lot of things about FTK from various people that are still in it and it seems a lot has changed. I wonder how it’s been. Guess I’ll be able to see when I go visit toward the end of the month.

IMG_20120913_094346

Upon going with some of my coworkers to buy coffee … Venti Caramel Macchiato, a friend/old coworker told me to meet her downstairs by the elevator. She surprised me with a Tall Pumpkin Spice Latte. My first one ever and I loved it!

You would think a girl that doesn’t drink a lot of coffee would be wide awake … false. Coffee doesn’t do anything to me but make me pee like a horse.

***************************

source: not sure where she got this but I’m sure it was on Facebook …

A friend of mine sent me this. Ahh … makes me wish I was still in SA. And it’s nice I’m still thought of. Cannot wait to see her toward the end of the month as well!

***************************

The puppy I would like to have. So cute!

Please let me know where I can get him!

***************************

Remember that one time I went to go give blood and they messed up? Well I went back in to give blood again, passed all the tests and got told I couldn’t give blood because the last time I did it, they took too much RBCs so now my body doesn’t have enough RBCs and I will have to wait til December.

Disappointed.

And what’s worse is Mallory and I scheduled our appointment together to hang out. Needless to say I went home and left her there. I was too sad to stay and watch everyone give blood.

***************************

Day off tomorrow and I have a list of errands to run. Weee!

Eat Cake, Get Boy … Seriously

Working Out

images

via

One of the best feelings in the world? Starting a new workout plan. Let’s do this!

Lots of cardio and strength training!

I feel a little tired afterward but no soreness. Ask me again tomorrow.

Work

IMG_20120910_081324

Work is going well. On some days, I get coffee with the co-s. You can see Dopey in the background. He’s the only decoration I own in my office.

Since we’re on the work topic, we just found out our whole floor will be moving into a different building – not sure when exactly but sometime soon. EVERYONE will have cubicles except for the high high up. I heard these will be fancy cubes. Fingers crossed I get a window seat.

Maybe once we move I will buy some things and decorate my office. Anyone know where I can buy cheap, pretty things to do so?

YOLO? Dumbo.

Screenshot_2012-09-10-15-27-59

I saw this on my Facebook feed and I shared it with practically everyone I saw today.

You already know what I’m going to say …

I Love Mail

Seriously loving opening the mailbox and seeing that something belongs to me. The same goes with email. They are so much better than a text or Facebook message. No doubt.

I would put up the picture of the Cosmopolitan and Women’s Health but I am too lazy to cross off my name/address. I’m sure you can picture magazines in your head.

IMG_20120910_164845

Plus, getting things like this is always nice. Alyssa & Greg’s thank you card from the wedding. I know it’s a must to write thank you cards but I never give to expect something in return … even if it’s just a thank you. Seriously, to me, I think them letting me be a part of their wedding is them giving me something. I got to be there for my best friend from high school. Someone I will always treasure in my heart. Thank you, Alyssa. And Greg, you got a good one. Treat her well.

Eat Cake … Get Boy

20120910_202445

I came home and the first thing Mum told me was “EAT CAKE … GET BOYFRIEND.” Really now?

Apparently if you eat this type of cake, you will get a boyfriend. If you already have a boyfriend, he will treat you so well. Same if you’re married.

In my head, I’m obviously saying … bullsh*t. But I eat it anyways. Can you guess what kind it is?

Red Velvet … with Cream Cheese Frosting. In other words, my workout done earlier was useless.

If this is true (which I doubt), I guess I rarely get boyfriends because I don’t really like eating sweets therefore pass up Red Velvet a lot. This will explain why some girls I know that love red velvet always has a new guy after breaking up with one two seconds before. And because I like baking goods, like Red Velvet, and give it away it’s like a metaphor … I give away the guy I like to the friend because I don’t like fighting.

So … guess that explains it.

Thanks Red Velvet … for solving this dilemma for me.

Time Flies

IMG_20120909_125704

Lately I’ve been cleaning my room. Well, sissy and I have and we found stacks of magazines. Some from the 1990s!

Remember the magazine from above? It’s from August 14, 2000. Time sure flies!

Guess Brad and Jennifer ate a lot of Red Velvet since the divorce … It’ll explain how they both got someone new …

*****************

Sissy and Bruno came home. Time to hang out with them a little before heading to bed.

Wild Wing Cafe

September 8, 2012 by Mellie Dee 4 Comments

Yesterday started out like any other Friday. Work.

But Fridays are usually different in people are more chill. Wacko, Tony C., Shelly and I chit chatted for a little bit while nibbling on a cookies that Shelly brought. They made fun of my language. LAME.

Then we went back to our workload. Wacko came after lunch and we chit chatted a little more. It was nice reminiscing about the old days. We tend to do that. He even sent a picture of himself when he first started lifting. His scrawny days from when I first met him. I laughed so hard. He definitely looks different.

20120907_175250

Upon leaving, I came home and took a nice hour nap. Then took Rocky to the vet for his shots. He has such a pointy nose. And a little crazy when he sees other doggies. He gets too dang excited.

Then I went home and got ready to meet Michelle and later Mallory at Wild Wing Cafe. Michelle wanted to do dinner and catch up and Mallory knew the guy that was going to play in a band there. So win win. They didn’t know each other but they do now.

We sat upstairs … the non-smoking area plus our view. Very nice. And I ordered a Blue Moon. YUM.

20120907_200510

Big Fat Fries [crispy wedge cut fries] | $3.29

If you haven’t known, I love fries … And oh my gosh, so happy I got to try these. The ranch isn’t even necessary it was so dang good! A MUST TRY!

20120907_211237

Single Order [10 wings, two flavors, served with 1 dip & celery] | $10.29

I got the flavors wild west and medium. And I loved it. Their wings are super greasy like say Buffalo Wild Wings which is why I love them even more because it’s more on the crispy side like Wing Stop.

IMG_20120907_223416

Best picture of us … Michelle, Me, Mallory.

The night was great also because in the beginning I got to talk to Michelle one on one. Then Mallory came and we all chilled a little, Michelle left, and I got to talk one on one with Mallory. It was a pretty great night. Also because of this …

20120907_233611

When Michelle left, Mallory and I moved downstairs to the bar. Do you see what we saw? Other than Mallory’s friend, Clinton, up on stage, there’s a girl sitting on a guy’s lap. Let’s just say they were acting a little inappropriate if you catch my drift.

IMG_20120907_230611

My Guinness and Mallory’s Vodka and Club Soda. We had these x2. Yum. I love foam on my beers!

I had a great time at Wild Wing Cafe and the food is actually really good. I would come back here for the fries for sure.

And today’s been a super lazy day. I stayed home all day. Snooze.

Hope y’all are having a good weekend!

1 Month Anniversary

September 6, 2012 by Mellie Dee 5 Comments

No, not with a boy. I wish …

Today marks 1 whole month at my first ever big girl job. People do that right? Keep track of their work-iversaries?

Don’t worry, I won’t be doing one every month. That’s just a little too crazy.

All I want to do is Think Good Thoughts about how lucky I am to even have a job! I might complain about how tired I am when I get home from work but I am really thankful to have a job. To be able to pay off my loans (slowly but surely). To be able to have an income.

Also, my team is a-freaking-mazing. So far I have nothing bad to say about them. They are down to earth and so chill. They all joke around (even BossMan) and it’s like a family. The age differences on our team is nothing but a number. And they are very willing to help you whenever you need it. I’m pretty sure they’re annoyed of all my questions.

5 summers. 1 winter. That’s how many times I’ve worked with Wacko in the past. This would make it the 6th. Whenever you start somewhere new, it’s always scary having to meet new people. Knowing he was going to be there was nice. He’s grown so much (I tell him that all the time) and it’s amazing to have witnessed it. I’ve never seen him talk so much and smile as much as he does now.

Happy Hours with the team … I think that explains itself. Pretty much explains it in the picture above … but I still have some real friends in Houston.

I get free fruit. You read that correctly. Only some teams do it at my work place and my team does it. And I love it. All you can eat fruit daily. Well, it’s more like first come first serve but I get to work before the majority does so I believe I have the advantage.

The only downfall of working in Houston is missing everyone in San Antonio. I left some comments on some of my friends’ wall’s on Facebook and I got a plethora of love coming through from it in less then a few seconds. I just wished I was literally there with them. Laughing and joking. I get jealous of my own friends for being able to see each other. Sad, huh?

source: off Facebook … obviously from someecards. No direct link though.

Anyway, if you know me, I’m all about helping kids with cancer. Check out For The Kids Dance Marathon at UTSA. They are already in full swing. I miss being a part of it but I know it’s in good hands. Like us on Facebook, help out, and just BE AWARE.

Peace & Love
