A New Winner

April 13, 2013 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Sad day. I gave Kym weeks to send me her address so I can send her her goodness. Guess she didn’t want it. 🙁 I’ve contacted her with every way I knew how.

So I have to choose a new winner … I went with the second one on the list.

Congrats Anna Zed!

Cloud Cafe

April 12, 2013 by Mellie Dee 6 Comments

Happy Friday y’all! I’ve been on a hunt for a local coffee shop since forever ago. Starbucks was killing me with all those cardboard cups. I needed a real cup.

Like the ones characters of F.R.I.E.N.D.S hold in Central Perk. Dork status. I know. Leave me be. Still can’t get over how that show could ever be cancelled …

Cloud Cafe pretty much fell in my lap. I pass this place a lot (in the 6 months or so they’ve been opened) but I never had the courage to walk in. It’s always scary going to a new place for me. I saw a deal on Groupon (where I get everything) where I paid $5 for 5 cups of coffee, tea, or bubble tea. What? Score. K. I’m down.

I’m currently sitting down drinking a big cup of Caramel Latte. With a pretty design.

It was empty walking in. Two employees were working just chilling because there’s not much people no one here. I’m sure they get tons of business in the morning or after work time.

It’s a very hidden shop which I love because that means it’s very chill and I can find a seat. The servers are super nice. They go above and beyond to help you out.

Miss Amazing explained the menu to me and helped me out. Hallelujah. I would of just stood there like a dumbass. Then she told me to sit anywhere and she would bring the cup of joe to me. I don’t have to move? Score. I love this place already.

I sat down to use the Wi-Fi but it failed. Instead of writing me off as my laptop being a stinker (which lazy people usually do in these situations), she looked up a way to fix it for me. A simple router restart x2. Thank you, Miss Amazing. Life would be bummer without internet at a cafe where I cannot blog.

There’s an Art Gallery where you can pretty much buy off the walls. And the art is pretty impressive. Paintings to drawings to straight up stitching? Yep.

They also have open mic nights. A piano sits in the corner. Miss Amazing, who I just found out is actually Miss Co-Owner, even busted out with some notes. She says she’s only learning but dang … another amazing thing to add to the list of stuff she can do.

Couldn’t help it. Just ordered a Hazelnut Latte. Sadly I cannot use one of my 4 remaining vouchers BUT shiet is so good, I don’t mind it. Blogging on the right and blog reading on the left. That would be Lauren’s blog on the left. She’s amazing. Go check her out.

It’s been a good 30 minutes or so and 3 customers already came in. This place is definitely a place to check out. Love it. I will be coming back with or without this Groupon. Hello Fridays off. You and I have a place to go now. 🙂

Thanks … No Thanks

I’m thankful I’ve never had to think about how much a car battery costs and just went and bought one when I needed it. A friend of mine had to get his car jumped every time he wanted to go somewhere because his battery died. I wish I could of helped him … but I felt I was bothering him instead. Glad he was finally able to get a new one.

I am NOT thankful to hear someone from my graduating high school class has passed away. We had way to many people in our school so I didn’t know him but the posts I see all over Facebook shows he was a good man. His family & friends are in my thoughts.

I’m thankful I was able to stand for 18 hours this past weekend for those that can’t. I believe I was born to help others.

I am NOT thankful for these monthly headaches that won’t go away for a good few days. The pain is always in the same place. If I throw up, it goes away. I’m trying not to soooo we will see how it goes.

I’m thankful for technology. I just found out Justin & Leah are officially engaged! It was a long time coming and it’s wonderful I can know about it so many miles away! I feel old. And super single.

2013 FTK Dance Marathon

After work last Thursday I sped to San Antonio. The drive was brutal. Being stuck in traffic for 2 hours was the best … let me tell you.

Spent time with my lovelies, Patricia, Shayna, & Marisol while we caught up and made bandanas. I couldn’t fall asleep and literally got a good hour and thirty minutes in. By that time I knew there’s no point in trying to sleep. Time wasted is the worst feeling in the world. Got my butt up and tried to do some blogging then got ready for the Dance Marathon.

I was going to do the whole hour by hour of how I felt but we all know that sometimes time goes by fast and sometimes times go by slow. The first four hours went by pretty fast especially since the Families and the Kids were there to cheer us on. But when they left and 1 o’clock hit with nothing much to do, insanity kicked in. Going outside and upstairs definitely helped a lot. I just wished it was a set thing that we were allowed to do. We did many laps around the center just to keep our sanity.

Some of us girls before standing up.

When the Families came back around 10am, happiness rushed over me. That in just over 3 hours, we will have finished our goal. The hugs I got from my favorite family (a mum and three kids) definitely put a smile on my face. They were SO proud of all I was doing. The swelling in my knees and my minor refracture on the ball of my foot was nothing compared to what they went through in the past.

We finally made it through all 18 hours without sitting down or resting. And we helped raised over $40,000! I wouldn’t trade my swollen knees to sit down. The feeling of accomplishment and knowing I did not cheat is the best feeling ever. I even squatted when I peed. TMI? I’m a squatter in public regardless if I had to stand 18 hours or not. Plus having these memories with some of the best people really makes it all the worthwhile. My only regret is not spending enough time with certain people. They were busy working the dang thing.

Throughout the weekend I found out who I can and cannot trust and who truly cherishes my friendship. I agree I sometimes only hear one side of the story but sometimes I get 2 or 3 sides of a story. People can say I’m bias but I always knew certain people were shady. The stories just confirmed it even more. I just never thought they would wear such a thick mask. That just means I don’t have to waste time.

Another marathon (dance wise) under my belt and may just be my last one. Mission complete. Happy Hump Day. Excited tomorrow is my Friday! Yippee!!
