It pains me to listen to people and see their pain and not being able to help. That even though I’m personally going through things, I have to be there for them. The things he feel, the things he goes through. Even though I cannot help him physically, knowing he can talk to someone about it helps. And for him to say my opinions matter to him gave me some comfort I was helping him in some way.

After listening to him and giving him advice, I finally understood the advice someone else gave me. That sometimes, things are out of your control. You just have to learn to let it go. That once the day is over, it shouldn’t be bothering you anymore. Addressing the issue is all you can do and if it doesn’t change, it doesn’t change. And I totally understand that now.
