Mental Health Week

December 13, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Mental Health Illness Happiness

I opened my Yogi Tea Friday and found this little quote:

Mental happiness is total relaxation.

I thought was perfect since it’s Mental Health Awareness Week!

I have not formally been diagnosed with a mental disorder due to the fact to being diagnosed with something else (not having to do with mental illness). I am now hesitant in going and finding another reason why I am the way I am. Receiving a diagnoses is both weight off your shoulders yet earth shattering at the same time.

For the time being, I am doing my best to work them out myself with the help of those around me. Though they can’t always physically be next to me, the surprise packages and  letters, phone calls and simple texts helps. But I’ve also told myself that if it ever gets to that point, I’ll go out and find professional help.

Buzzfeed did a Mental Health Week worth of posts which flooded my Facebook. Mental illness isn’t something that can be seen physically therefore many do not understand it. But these videos and articles help to show how real it really is. And seeing these things gives me hope on so many levels which I’m sure is how others felt as well.

You are not alone.

Remember that the only thing you can do is to reassure and show them you still care, especially if you’re someone they can trust because it’s very rare. Here’s a post of 18 Ways You Can Help A Loved One Going Through a Hard Time.

Don’t ever stop caring.

Below are more Buzzfeed posts that popped on my Facebook that resonated with me personally though there are many others posts and sources that are great as well. Researching and trying to understand is the first step if you want to reach out and help those you love.

Trying to be Girly

Mellie Dee | Winter

I get told I dress better when it’s my Friday off and during the weekends. Which … isn’t exactly false. Being dressed up at work makes me a little uncomfortable. Not too sure when I stopped dressing up at work but I guess I just got too comfortable and just started to look a little frumpy. But now that I notice maybe I’ll get back into it …maybe.

Rizzo Replica | Cracker Barrel

Friday I woke up super early and went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel with June. I surprisingly like going to Cracker Barrel for the shopping more than the food. I think the food is too greasy and it made my stomach hurt. Bleughhh. I’m done Christmas shopping for the most part but I can’t help but buy things when it reminds me of someone. This little figurine reminded me of Riz but I didn’t get it because it’s useless. But it’s cute nonetheless so a picture was well enough. Afterward we went to the mall so she could finish up her Christmas shopping.

Coffee with Edward

After dropping her back home, I went and met up with Edward. He was late but I didn’t mind sitting in the cold. It’s actually one of my favourite winter things. Sit in the cold bundled up and blog or read or something with a hot cup of something in hand. He wanted to grab coffee and catch up about life and the show. So we did for a good few hours until high school let out and we couldn’t stand the little kids. He ended up going to Target with me so I could pick up a gift for Ryland. I’m proud of everything he’s doing to get his life back together and for him to go back to school and for him to find something he loves enough to not quit yet work harder every day. Seeing people you’ve known forever striving to be better makes me so freaking happy.

Fire Pit | Christmas Party

Saturday was the work Christmas Party at Chama Gaucha. It was just chill hang out and drinking and eating meat. Nothing too fancy. It wasn’t too cold as I’d thought or maybe because they had these fire pits everywhere outside when we were waiting for our table. I really want one in my future home. It’s so cute! And you could roast marshmallows (bleugh) and play music around it like a campfire. teehee

Ann Mellie Dee Apurva | Christmas Party

Ann and I. Apurva and I. Liliana was having car troubles and couldn’t make it and the other person I asked said no. 🙁 I didn’t mind going alone but I’m lucky Apurva offered to be my plus one since I haven’t seen her in almost 3 months. It gave us a chance to catch up and talk about a lot of random things.

Easy Access Dress | Asos

You can’t see the bottom of my dress in the picture so here it is … Ann had asked me what I was wearing to the party and she didn’t believe me when I told her it was an easy access dress until I sent her this photo. It’s actually one of my favourites with the way it cuts like that. I didn’t realize how short it really was until I sat down. Whoops. But I was happy I finally got to wear this dress. I’ve been wearing dresses and shorts so much in Hong Kong that I miss it coming home. You’d think I’d wear more to work but … nah.

Ryland's 5th Birthday

Sunday was Ryland’s 5th birthday party a few months late. This kid is going to grow up uncertain of his day of birth. haha But it was nice to see everyone and catch up. This is one of the best well behaved kids I’ve ever met and I hope he stays that way. So far he still likes me so I wouldn’t give up hanging out with him for anything.

I went to the studio tonight and it was amazing how many new crew members we have! I’m only the “consulting producer” as Edward calls me but it was nice getting to work on the control board and help with the airing. I don’t know if I’ll be going every time like I did past seasons, but they know I’ll help them out whenever they need it.

I can’t believe Christmas is almost here. What days should I take off?!

100 Days Until I See Ron!

December 3, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

Okay, so this post isn’t about Ron but I just wanted to start that countdown because EEEP!

It’s Thursday which means it’s almost the weekend for most people! Lucky for me, I have tomorrow off! This is going to be a pretty busy weekend and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I know it sounds crazy but I do miss being busy. I miss planning and helping others with their big life events. I like seeing their happy faces. But having more free time means more time to get back into obsessing with my workouts. When I say obsessing I mean hours on end just looking at workout things like I did before my accident. I mostly just want to tone up and get back into shape. I actually pulled out my winter coat this morning that I use to wear in the beginning of college and it fits pretty well! The sleeves are a little too short; and it’s a little tight in the shoulder area but it’s always been like that since I have broad shoulders. That was a YAY of the day! And when Mum was cleaning out the bottom closet, she found my bridesmaid dress from B’s and SIL’s wedding which was two months ago. I put it on and it was way way loser than that day. Double YAY of the day! Just can’t stray off the path!

Back to looking at workouts and getting ready for tomorrow! Can’t wait to see some lovelies! Eepsssssss!

Happy December

Welcome December

via

Cuddle weather is here … but who are we kidding. It’s more like sweater weather for me. I love the cold weather and am so happy it’s finally here. I guess I’ll go look for a rando to cuddle with. Speaking of, people who get paid to cuddle … best job ever. Where do I sign up?

Rizzo 2 Years

Reusing an old photo but he’s just so adorable here! Two years ago today this little poopie butt adopted me into his family. He’s one of the handful of people (yes, he’s a person) that’s helped me through some though times. Here’s to many more years, Riz!

Sweater Weather Bunny

via

I received a postcard from Kathy in Hong Kong. Gah … every contact with them makes me miss them and Hong Kong even more. I wore the sweater they sent me yesterday and it’s one of the warmest sweaters I’ve ever owned! I am planning to go back around sweater weather in a few years so I can buy a bunch. Who wants to join me? Cuz I obviously need to stalk up if I can’t find anyone to cuddle with by then …

Thanksgiving Break Recap

November 29, 2015 by Mellie Dee Leave a Comment

***Super long post ahead but …. all Asia posts are now updated with pictures!! It took a long while but I can say I did something productive this weekend …***

I cannot believe that we all go back to work tomorrow. This week went by too fast since there was something going on every day. But so thankful to be surrounded by loved ones. My family was all going to go to B’s and SIL’s for Thanksgiving this year since it’s their first holiday as a married couple and I was going to stay by myself. But they decided to come down instead since I had to attend a wedding this weekend.

Mellie Dee Working

Wednesday || I had work while the majority took the day off. Luckily I only had to work a few hours but since one of my coworkers needed help on her project, I stayed an extra to help her out. I then went all over buying wedding and birthday presents and cake. It was Mum’s birthday that night so I took her out along with Dad and June to Thai Cottage. We waited for B, SIL, Jenny, and Sammi to arrive to cut the cake. They brought along their little poopies, Krypto, Pluto, and Joey. The gang was soon to be back together.

Flowers Yuck

Oh … and if anyone knows me very well personally knows I’m not a big lover of flowers. I mean, they’re pretty and everything, but they’re not something I would want anyone to waste their money on for me. I rather they donate that money to FTK or something. I might feel differently if it was someone I had strong feelings for and potentially love. But at the moment … not the case.

Dog Family

Thursday || The pup family together again. Uncle Rocky with their nephews, Krypto, Pluto, Bruno, Kato, and Rizzo. With Krypto and Pluto’s cousin, Joey.

Thanksgiving Dinner

I mostly just sat around working on random things (mostly stickers shopping) before prepping everything. We said smaller portions and we did make less dishes. But we someone still ended up with a lot of leftovers. The boys played video games afterward. If they were playing something cooler, I would of joined but instead, I went online to shop for Christmas presents. Check and check!

Mellie Dee & Jenny

Friday || We went and ate sushi for a late brunch and everyone headed shopping while I headed to Kim’s to work on the blog to where all the pictures are finally uploaded to the Asia posts. Then later that night we went to dinner with some family members since they haven’t seen B and SIL since their wedding. Jenny and I were snapchatting Travis the whole time. It was nice to see how he’s been doing. Cantu even texted me and we talked about random things to where he asked why I seem to go to weddings every month … funny he mentioned that because …

Amanda & Brent Wedding

Saturday || Amanda and Brent’s big day! I got ready and headed to Sugar Land to the church Amanda grew up in. She literally did everything in that church and now she got married there which I think is pretty cool. After the ceremony, we all headed to Brookshire for the reception. Look how perfect they are! I uploaded this on Facebook/Instagram and she loved it so much, it’s her profile picture! .. That makes me happy. Little things. haha

Mellie Dee Stag

I was getting hit on by the bartender. The second time I went up to the bar his pickup line was “Where have you been? I never knew how much in love with legs I was until I saw you walk away. Those calves …” I wish I had a butch gay best friend to take to these things. This is my … crap, I don’t know anyone and I’m awkwardly all by myself and I’m trying to act like I actually have friends face. I am horrible at keeping in touch so I’m not close to any of Amanda’s friends like I was a few years back.

Amanda & Brent Wedding - Sara and Will

The bridesmaids I knew were busy with their duties. Luckily Will and Sara came stag so I hung out with them most of the time. Will is dancing with a beer in his back pocket … When Will complimented me on my calves later in the night, I almost threw up because all I saw was the creepy bartender’s face. haha It was a fun wedding with lots of line dancing. Thank goodness for Will’s outgoing personality. If it wasn’t for him or Amanda and Brent’s friend, I wouldn’t have danced the whole night. I had a dance with Will where he spun me left and right and dips and all that jazz. I asked if he’s ever spun so much that he’s thrown up to which he replied yes. haha

Happy Mail

As if I wasn’t already happy seeing Amanda and Brent, the sweetest most caring couple I’ve ever met, tie the knot, I came home with packages! One of which is from Hong Kong! I miss them so much.

Sunday || I’ve been super lazy to where I stayed home all day laying around lazily with Rizzo.

Looking back at this weekend, it’s been a pretty sweet one. Two years ago an old friend tried to take her own life and she’s still here today. I even got an invitation to someone’s family event with whom I haven’t spoken to in a while. There is so much to be thankful for. For being alive. And I texted my happiness to the person I still always want to share my ups and downs with. I don’t do it anymore so I’m not too sure what came over me tonight. I know I’m hard to get along with at times, especially when my anxiety hits so, I’m thankful he’s still in my life after everything, along with everyone else.

Until next time,
